Very detailed drawings ...

Very detailed drawings and description of the construction process. However, the book has some errors in the pressure calculations. One would be well advised to re-calculate these numbers before proceeding with a build.

For someone who is ...

For someone who is already a skilled machinist, this would be a superb reference. For someone who is not, but has a good background in metallurgy, mechanics, engineering, etc, it's a great reference. For someone with little technical background, it may be too advanced to be an enjoyable read. Excellent job of putting the information into print. The only thing I did not like was the attitude. There are some disparaging comments about the black rifle crowd that did not need to be put into a book, particularly one about rifles. And while he does not make similar comments about hunting, I got the feel that he does not approve of that, either. Granted, the book was written in 1998, and his viewpoints may have changed since then. A lot gets learned in 13 years. Ignoring the negative attitude (consisting of about 3 paragraphs total), this is an excellent resource for the enthusiast with a solid technical background.
