Product Information

This 2-stage competition trigger kit includes a special hammer spring, selector switch, disconnector, disconnector spring, trigger, trigger spring, hammer and hammer spring. The first stage allows you to set the trigger at a 3-1/2 lb. DCM legal and the second stage is a 1 lb. letoff for a total of 4-1/2 lbs.

This finely honed, competition trigger includes all the specially modified parts shown and a special hammer spring (not illustrated here). When installed in your lower receiver, this trigger can be set for a 3.5 lb. DCM legal 1st Stage and a 1 lb. (2nd Stage) letoff for a 4.5lb total.

Note: This trigger is NOT available for Colt Lowers with "Block" over safety.

This is a small pin trigger, not for early Colt models

Bushmaster recommends using Tetra Gun Lube, CLP or Break Free when installing this trigger, and using a Moly grease such as KG-11 on the hammer notch. Any similar products should work fine for the installation process.

This is one of the finest ...

This is one of the finest tactical triggers I've had the opportunity to operate. This trigger is identical in feel to the trigger on the Army's Squad Designated Marksman Rifle. This trigger is highly adjustable for over-travel and weight of pull, and throughout the range of adjustment, maintains a sharp hammer fall breaking point. I have my trigger tuned with a 3-1/2 LB first stage and a 1 LB second stage break and it functions like a glass rod. I've never experienced FTF (failure to fire) problems associated with several other aftermarket triggers caused by a light trigger spring. Installation of this trigger requires a moderate amount of mechanical knowledge specific to the AR-15 trigger group, particularly in reference to the supplied safety selector switch. You must also have a quality lubricant on hand during installation to lubricate the disconnector spring for true two stage trigger operation.

I bought this trigger on ...

I bought this trigger on the strength of Bushmaster Guns. I have two factory made store bought Bushmasters which I love and trust, however this trigger is another matter. Never could get the trigger set-up. Bought the recommended lube, and followed all the instructions. I even had a buddy try to set it up in case I was missing something. The trigger was installed in a Stag Arms Lower that I assembled a year ago. I originally put a DPMS trigger in this build but decided to fancy it up a bit. After spending the weekend messing with the trigger I tossed it out and bought a drop in Timney. All in all it was a very frustrating experience. I can't say enough about Bushmaster guns but I don't recommend the trigger kits.

Not for 15-22!!!

I bought this trigger to go in my S&W 15-22. The problem with the trigger is not really it's fault... it's S&W's fault. The 15-22 was made to accept AR-15 triggers however, not mil-spec safeties. Everything fit and worked fine except the safety which is a crucial part of this trigger system. The lower receiver of the 15-22 is thicker than mil-spec so the safety doesn't go all the way through and therefore will not work.
The star rating is hard for this because it isn't the trigger's fault it didn't work but I can't give it 5 stars because I didn't actually get it to work so I tried to go with a good average.
If you have an AR-15 I would recommend this but it will not work in a 15-22.

This trigger rocks. I just put 200 rounds of Brown Bear & Silver Bear (which I was testing as well, due to high ammo prices). Installation was not hard. The instructions are made out as if you know what you're doing. Also the instructions tell you to disassemble parts of the trigger that are already disassembled. So read 2-3 times before you even start, play out the install in your head. At the range things went well. Nice first stage pull then you hit a wall which is the second stage the slightest of pull and BANG she goes. This helped my accuracy out big time. I'm glad I ignored the negative reviews. Some people just don't get it I guess.

You can't beat this trigger for the price, but for me, installation was not a do-it-yourself job. I am not an AR novice, and have removed and re-installed AR trigger groups previously, but I was not smart enough to get this trigger to work, despite three tries at installing it. For whatever reason, it would not release unless I first turned the safety to SAFE, then back to FIRE. However, my gunsmith installed it in a snap, and charged only $10, which was money well spent. This trigger was installed into a polymer lower, with a 24 inch stainless Model 1 heavy-barrel upper. For informal benchrest shooting, this trigger is fabulous. A very clean, creep-free 1st stage pull, then a slight but distinct hitch, and then, "SNAP". My groups immediately dropped from 1" to less than 1/2" at 100 yards.

For the money, you won't gain much/if any advantage by installing one of these. Set up was easy, but finding the sweet spot from 1st to 2nd stage left the pull at 5 lbs. That was on install, and after a few hundred rounds, along with re-adjustment. Another deal breaker is if you want to run an ambi safety, forget it. (Unless you're a machinist)

I have a Bushy XM-152ES which I bought several years ago. The stock trigger was terrible and I tried the cheap upgrade of new springs. Problems with light primer strikes and no reliable operation were immediate. It was clear I needed something better so another upgrade was in order. I considered the Rock River single stage or 2 stage upgrade, but decided to keep the Bushmaster all the same, including upgrades. I believe the Bushmaster 2 stage trigger kit is fairly new since I have not noticed any advertising on it. I also did not want to drop $200.00 plus for a so called drop in. I purchased the kit and began the installation yesterday, between bowl games. I pulled the stock assemblies without any issues, but ran into some difficulties getting the new trigger, trigger spring and disconnector pinned into position. I was trying not to force the parts together and perhaps did not use enough hammer force. It took way too long and I am not a novice when it comes to mechanics. I also did not want to have to take it to a gunsmith. The components had to have close tolerances. The included selector (safety) and hammer were no problem. I added the over travel and plunger spring parts and lock screws with no problems. The trigger is now safe, crisp and properly adjusted. Despite the supplied instructions somewhat lacking, I managed to find additional info on the Bushmaster web site. I am pleased with the operation thus far, although the weather is too cold for range testing. I am confident I made a good choice, despite the time involved. It was also a good education learning how this two stage trigger works.

Sometimes when I read reviews I just kinda want to laugh. Sorry, I use this trigger in a very well out fitted AR Bushmaster predator that keeps 6 tenths of a minute on a bad day with 75 grain PRVI Black Hills knock off ammo. It is a really good trigger. If you rated it low you may need a gunsmith to install it and explain it's features. The first stage has drag that sets you up perfectly for the second stage which releases around a pound. I have JP springs so I'm down to about 2.5 with about 12oz let off. I never have a problem with the trigger going back into the second stage for follow up shots. Although if you dont like the first stage's friction feel you can certainly tune it out but, I find it useful and really gives me a safe 12oz trigger at the end of the day. The stock 2 stage set up kind of has a take up that lets the trigger sit directly on the second stage and a pound pull later it goes bang. Very good trigger. If you don't understand the feel you might be better off with a standard trigger with a full 4 pound break. It is very purpose made and one of the originals of the 2 stage triggers...kinda all others copied it. After you learn to appreciate it during use you will love it. What some shooter may not be used to is that if you lay it down on the second stage and do not break the trigger you may need to manually push the trigger forward to set it up for battery. When used correctly it is a extremely positive break with almost zero overtravel.

Bought all recommended equipment, lubes, punches ect. Have worked on triggers before, but this 2 stage plunger adjustable mess is a different matter. Have spent over 2 hours trying to adjust it and the first stage is always too heavy and runs into the 2nd stage. I was hoping I could get this like my Springfield M1A 2 stage, but it was terrible. It is great for crisp follow up shots (just using the 2nd stage and never allowing the first again). That first stage never cleaned up for me, I'm very disappointed. I'm scrapping this and getting a drop in Timney.

This is a great after market trigger. Installation was easy, even for a novice like me. I suggest you have support of additional instructions. The instructions that are included are helpful with adjusting the trigger, however they are not geared for removal of factory trigger or basic installation of the replacement. I was fortunate to have access to strip/ build instructions which filled the gap. The upgraded trigger is a marked improvement over the factory model it replaced. The first stage is smooth and the second stage breaks clean. For performance and value I highly recommend this product.
