From a Marlin 917V rifle, this ammo provides astonishing performance! One of our first 200 yard groups of 6 shots had two flyers but printed four rounds in less than 1/2". The "flyers" grouped 1 3/4" E.S. In a HEAVY 90 degree wind at 200 yards, P.O.I. shifted from dead center on an MR-52 to 9 o'clock on the bullseye (5 3/4").Elevation from 100 yard zero to 200 yard zero was 4 M.O.A.The Poly tip gives the projectile a B.C. like a needle! There is absolutely no comparison to this ammo performance and that provided by a .22 magnum. They are worlds apart. This stuff drifts little and goes exactly where you point it. Don't believe it? Try it. The ammo is amazing!

Very good product other ...

Very good product other than 2 misfires in the first 25 shells. Using a Marlin 917v, groups ranged from from 1/2" to 3/4" at 100 yards.

I like this product. It is very accurate out of my Savage 93R17. At 100 it'll put 5 under a nickel. But i wouldn't hunt for meat with these rounds. I shot the first squirrel this morning and it was nothing but a furry bag of jello

I just started shooting ...

I just started shooting this round with my marlin, and as you all know if you shoot much is each brand and round is different even if you use the same grain. I would have to resight my gun. When I finally broke down and bought federals, I was in awe over the consistency of this round, its amazing! I would recommend this round to anyone, I shot 1/4" bullseye at 100 yds consistently. This round is awesome.

So far this has been the ...

So far this has been the best shooting ammo I've found out of my Marlin XT-17V and I'm not greatly impressed with the 17HMR. I still have a few more brands of ammo to try and I've heard the 17HMR is very ammo picky. This ammunition is cleaner burning and functions much better than other brands I've tried.

I am still playing with ...

I am still playing with different ammo for my H&R Sportster, the store I bought the gun from had these and CCI 17 grain jacked HP. Of the two this was by far the most accurate, average 3 shot groups measure out at.380, the CCI was out to.820, still sub MOA but the federal was the best of the two. Ground squirrels do not stand a chance, the devastation is unbelievable, like someone else posted, a foot shot will destroy a rodent. Seriously devastating round on small critters. If you are not hunting for meat and just want to rid the property of pests, this is the ammo to use.

I would not recommend ...

I would not recommend this for small game hunting. Its way too volatile. Fragments every which way, and destroys a lot of meat. For dispatching varmints and pests I would give it 10 stars if I could. Accuracy would get 10 stars as well. Im shooting a Marlin 917V with Nikon 2-7x 32mm.I only sighted it in at 50yds.(Strangely thats the same distance from my porch to my garden, hmmmm.)groups inside a dime. Like I said VOL-IT-TILE.I think you could hit them in the paw and it fragments so bad it would dispatch them. I shot 2 armadillos towards the front and both never exited and they expired within 20 seconds. A true varmint round!!

I just purchased a Savage ...

I just purchased a Savage 93 heavy barrel, thumbhole stock, and couldn't wait to see how she would do. Bought some Hornady 17 gr V-Max and some of these Federal 17 gr. A friend had told me that 17 HMR's were kind of picky when it came to ammo so I tried both brands. My rifle loves these Federals. .75 inch 5 shot group at 100 yds as opposed to a 3.5 inch group with the Hornady. I'll use the remaining Hornady's for plinking and the Federals for hunting. Buy some you to try in your 17 HMR.

Easily the most accurate ...

Easily the most accurate out of my Savage 93, with 1" 5 shot groups common, often a bit better than that. I've tested all of the manufacturers' offerings, in two separate Savages and while they are shot well, Federal's V-max load has been the most consistent, lot in and lot out.
