Product Information

Federal engineers spent years developing this "blueprint round," which delivered superb accuracy, enabling the USA Olympic Team to bring home Gold medals from Barcelona in the 1992 Summer Olympic Games. The solid bullet makes this round great for training and pest hunting. This ammunition is new production and non-corrosive.

The 719 is 1200 fps (high velocity) "practice grade" target ammunition. My Kimber prefers 1200 fps over the standard 1080 fps target ammo. I prefer the .22 high speed ammo for silhouette competition. This ammo is slightly better in my Kimber to the CCI Select brand. Both are adequate for club silhouette competitions.

After very poor accuracy with 500 of these I tried a year or so ago I decided that maybe I had a sub-standard lot. Recently ordered 500 more from Midway and took them to the range today. They are no better than the earlier lot. I'm shooting them in a Savage Mark II that will consistently shoot quarter inch groups at 50 yards using Wolf ammo. This stuff won't shoot inch groups. I won't try any more of this!

I like the brand, great accuracy for sure and never have a misfire, ftf, or jam of any kind. These are performance proven to me. Didn't give it a perfect score because I think it runs dirtier than other brands!

My last review was back in Jan 2010 and I have not altered my love for this ammo. I tried just about every brand on the market and still will stay with the Federal #719. After using it for several years I find it has not jammed or misfired once. Each lot of 500 I purchase is consistent as the previous lot with no adjustments to the scope. Easy to clean the guns with very little fouling. The next best is the Federal #810 (copper plated) and the #510. Where to get the ammo....MIDWAY, period. They have the most fair prices and the people are nice to talk to when necessary. The only negative I can add is the shipping cost which Midway cannot control. Love this site!

I tried this ammo even though I did not have high hopes for it after reading the reviews. Each gun is different, so why not. In my CZ452 it averaged .54" for ten five shot groups at 50 yards. American Eagle HPs went .58". Go figure.

This is the only .22 ...

This is the only .22 ammunition I use. It is very accurate and consistent. I have a custom Ruger 10-22 that shoots 3/4 inch groups at 75 yds, and a colt .22 pistol that shoots 1/2 inch groups at 25 yds.

I purchased a new ...

I purchased a new Browning Buck Mark UDX and fired it using four different types of .22 ammo; twenty rounds each at 5, 10 and 25 yards. The Federal Premium Gold Medal stood out above the others. The tight shot groups really surprised me. I will stay with this brand in the future.
