Gas piston upgrade for your AR-15. Switching to a gas piston operating system from a direct gas impingement one leads to a cleaner and cooler operating rifle. This should lead to fewer malfunctions and considerably more time between cleanings. The OPS-416 kit is a true drop-in gas piston conversion, installing easily in a few minutes with a minimum of tools or technical expertise.

For barrel diameters no greater than .875"

The conversion was too ...

The conversion was too easy, so easy I was afraid it wouldn't work. The whole conversion took maybe 10 minutes. It functions beautifully, and has reduced the funk inside the receiver greatly. No affect on accuracy at all. If you want a piston kit, I highly recommend this one. It's well made with it's cobalt and stainless steel materials, you will not be disappointed.

This is an update of my ...

This is an update of my previous poor review of this system. I tried the Adams Arms gas piston system and it also did not function. My barrel is the Wilson combat 16" 6.8 rem. with a midlength gas system. E-mails to Adams Arms revealed that I needed to drill out the gas port hole in the barrel. The hole was 5/64ths, I drilled it to 7/64ths, now it works perfectly. So now I also believe that the Osprey system would work, plus it is a lighter system, than Adams Arms.

I've just installed this ...

I've just installed this gas system on a 6.8 rifle, it worked for the first two rds then became a single shot, rather embarassing at the range. Took it home and dissassembled to check for problems, could not find any obstructions in the gas ports, quite baffling as I've installed an Adams Arms gas piston system on a 223 carbine with no problems. So I will be returning this for an adams arms gas piston system.

Ops-416 gas piston kit is one of the best additions to the ar-15 I've seen in along time. It changes the feel as well as cuts cleaning time.
