The Lee Ergo Prime Hand Priming Tool features many of the same innovative features as the Auto Prime but in a ergonomic design. The Ergo Prime has a highly sculpted body to fit reloaders hands perfectly with upgraded finger lever to provide unmatched sensitivity, and comfort and allows reloaders to install the tightest primers with ease. This new design also works great for those reloaders with older hands that might lack the hand strength needed to operate other hand-held priming tools. One of the great things with the Ergo Prime is the feature that primer sizes can be changed in a second with no tools or disassembly required, just remove the shell holder and swap primer trays. The Ergo prime features large square trays that accept all brands of primer boxes and has slide on covers for large or small primers.

Lee has definitely made an improvement on perfection. I have been using the old Lee hand primer for years now. If you like to hand load as much as you like to shoot you will like this new hand primer. I admit it was a little bit different getting use to the feel but after a few boxes my thumbs were very thankful for the change. If you are like me and load a couple of boxes or so during a loading, you know about the thumb comment. Lee put a little cage over the next primmer to be loaded on the tray cover. The two primer trays (large and small) have been strengthened a bit in this upgrade. Go for the upgrade you will not be disappointed!

I'm sorry to say that ...

I'm sorry to say that there have been some difficulties with this new product. I'm a good Lee customer--been buying Lee products since 2000. Anyway, within the first 200 pieces of 357 brass, the "elevator cage" of the small primer cover had been pushed out of shape. The hold angle is critical to get the primers to move into position and an occasional shake are critical to operation. I knew this from the directions and tried to maintain it, but occasionally (even with care), the primers failed to feed. Also, even though I was really careful, one of the 2 clips that hold the cover on the tray broke. I now have ordered 4 of the product code 234685--replacement covers. I KNOW more will break, as many previous reviewers have mentioned the issue. I'm also going to try to see if Lee will send me replacement(s). I will say that the metal parts of the tool are excellent. The plastic parts and the feed system are pretty darned weak, though.

I took it out of the box, installed the proper tray with the primers, I slid on the proper shell holder and I was off and running without a hitch. The primers fed properly without jamming, and the whole thing worked flawlessly! It seems very well made and solid overall, but like others here, I was not impressed with the flimsy ears on the tray covers (I don't expect them to last); But then again there is always duct tape to secure the old cover or even a new one from MidwayUSA... The point is that even if the tray covers are not up to par, the rest of the tool is absolutely great and works wonderfully. In fact, if they made a better primer tray cover, this thing would be just about perfect... especially for the money!!!

I use this product for priming all of my shells in many calibers, Very easy to use and much better than the original thumb lever priming tool from lee. WORKS GREAT!

Primer feeder jammed every 10-15 rounds.
Requires more strength to use that the old Lee auto primer.
The old Lee auto primer is far superior and far more reliable to use. Don't waste your money upgrading to this product.

Good solid Lee product

I have had the old Lee Auto Prime for a long time and the only reason I ordered the Ergo Prime was because I thought I would like applying pressure with my fingers better than with my thumb and I do. It also seems like I can feel the primer bottom out a little better. I am not yet quite as coordinated with this one as the old one but I'm sure that will come with practice. Primers can turn over but if you do not pay attention to every detail you should not be reloading.

Not for small hands

My hand is small, size 7-1/2. After I use this priming tools to prime 300 cases, a deep blister formed in the middle section of my right index finger. I need to go back on the original priming system. Furthermore, the loading of the primers onto the platform is not an intuitive task.

have always used on the press lee prime and loved it until small primer press started messing up and dropping primers and turning over on me so thought I would give this a try. tricky to get it right have primed only a couple hundred so far and have trouble with primers popping up and turning over also works best if I use left hand to hold down cover will squeezing, even with my troubles it is still faster than on the prime press so greast for that. I guess I will learn more as I get use to it and will soon love everything about it.

Great idea, VERY poor execution!

Causes more dents, and flat primers than any other tool I've used. Very cheaply made, and the quality control of this Lee product needs serious rethinking. Out of 50 cases, at least 20 of them come out with flat or dented primers which creates more work, and shoots costs through the roof. Lets face it, primers aren't cheap, and ruining primers is a big deal. I've had primers dented so bad from this tool that buddies look at me and wonder how some of them haven't blown up in my face!
I have yet to find the "Perfect" primer tool. But I can tell you, this tool is at the rock bottom of the list for effectivness! Do your self a favor and get a tool from a manurfacture that actually cares about the end user.
Due to this tool, I will NEVER buy another Lee product. They can't even get their shell holders correct. Lee's quality control is so low that I don't understand how folks haven't been seriously injured, or even killed. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND YOU DO NOT USE THIS TOOL, YOU WILL REGRET IT!

Lee almost got it right

Still has the same issue of flipping the occassional small primer over as the original auto prime due to excessive clearance in the cover. They tried to put a "cage" in the plastic cover to prevent dropping primers on the floor. Now large primers occassionly will catch and lift the cover. I fixed this on mine by adding a chamfer to the corner feed hole. Guess what, the old covers have a chamfer!!! It does feel better to the hand. Write accurate reviews as we are the test dummies.

This unit isn't much, if any, better than the Auto Prime unit. The tray covers still have the fragile "fingers" that hold them on to the tray and they break easily just like the Auto Prime tray covers. If you get stuck with one of these turkeys get a supply of rubber bands to hold the broken tray covers on until the new ones YOU WILL order arrive. Spend a little extra and get the RCBS unit-you will be much more pleased. I'd give this ZERO stars if possible.
