This Model 1 CAR Heavy AR-15 Barrel is fully chambered and ready for installation onto a host upper receiver. The barrel's heavier contour makes it less susceptible to heat-induced accuracy degradation (or vertical "stringing") during prolonged strings of fire, while also remaining light enough to avoid being a burden to carry in the field. Manufactured by E.R. Shaw, the barrel features a 223 Remington Chamber and a 1 in 9" Rifling Twist that is capable of stabilizing light- to medium-weight projectiles of up to about 69 grains. Includes a factory-installed barrel nut, handguard cap, barrel extension, locator pin and forged A2 front sight base with bayonet lug. Front sight post, spring and detent are sold separately.

Barrel Gunsmithing Notes:
  • Recommended barrel nut torque value: 30 ft-lbs minimum, then continue to torque in order to align the next available gas tube notch in barrel nut, but not to exceed 80 ft-lbs
  • The use of an AR action block, receiver block insert, gas tube alignment tool and quality armorer's wrench is recommended for barrel installation.
  • Due to the manufacturing process, small burrs may occur inside the bore near the gas port. It may be necessary to run a cleaning patch through the bore to clear any burrs before use.
