I have a 1943 M-1, the blue sky barrel on it was in need of replacement. Bullets were key holing at 50 yards. I ordered the criterion barrel. Replacement was accomplished with no drama or difficulties. Just study the procedure, and take your time. Tried it today and was rewarded with nice 2.5", 8 shot group with greek ammo from 80 yards. I wouldn't hesitate to buy another

Shot amazing! I own a few other criterion barrels and all shoot great. These guys know how to make a great barrel that aren't way over priced like many others. I had a gunsmith bore scope it and he said it looked "superb" no reamer marks or scratches very good lands also the bore and groove were tight. Thanks MIDWAY for doing your research on good products to sell.

Installed this barrel on my 1944 Garand with a shot out barrel and now can hit targets beyond 700yds with open sights. Don't bother searching for a USGI barrel just get one of these!

Improved my groups from 4" to 1.2" @ 100yds in a WWII M1 Garand. Worth the money. Needs some gunsmith work but you will be rewarded by tighter groups. I love my M1 more because of this new barrel!! Thanks Criterion & Midway!!

Installed with no problem on a Korean era 1941 vintage receiver, splines were nice and snug, etc., evidencing the kinds of quality manufacturing touches you would expect from Krieger, who is the outfit that produces this barrel. The primary difference is that their premium Garand barrels are single point rifled and these aren't. Assembled it with a Boyd's stock set and a set of Wolff springs and a new set of NM sights. Put all eight rounds in a nice tight one inch hole at 100 yards from a rest first time out, verified by a witness on a spotting scope and I have the paper. Loads were nothing exceptional, just good components; used WW 748 powder and the excellent 168 gr. Nosler J4 custom competition boatails. This barrel has also shot extremely well for me using AA 2520 powder, so it responds well to a fairly wide burn rate spectrum of propellants. I recommend this barrel very highly and the only way I feel you could better your rifle's performance with a more expensive barrel is at ranges that represent what anyone would consider the extreme for the 30-06 cartridge. 800 to 1000 meters is where the really premium barrels will shine, but you would still have nothing to apologize for with this mil spec part, it's @ $100 cheaper than a Krieger and similar units and it is legal for the CMP and NRA shoots. Try one out; I really think you'll be glad you did.
