This pump has failed me. ...

This pump has failed me. I have used it sparingly (pumped my Marauder approx 12 times with it- mostly top-offs - not even full refills) since I bought it 2011. I am very disappointed today when it failed. It builds up pressure with about 5 pumps and seizes up. (it's like vacuum lock -the up stroke is harder than the down-stroke) For a $180 pump I expected more. Now the hassle of contacting/shipping to Benjamin for warrantee recourse.

I have been using this ...

I have been using this pump for around 9 months and have had zero problems so far. I have a .25 and a .22 cal Marauder that this pump is used for. The .25 uses way more air than the .22 and I shoot often. Dont let the gun fall below 2,000 psi and it is quick to bring back to 3,000 psi. All PCP airguns should be stored under pressure so bringing a gun up from zero should never be an issue. As with any pump you must be steady and slow, its not a race and dont torque the handle side to side or back and forth, this is what wears out any pump. If I could change anything it would be to have a water remover built into it. It has good fittings and an accurate guage. Other than that it is a good sturdy pump and worth the money spent.

I did a lot of research ...

I did a lot of research before purchasing my Benjamin HP pump from Midway and the biggest thing I found is HOW to use the pumps. If you don't let the pump rest or pump too fast the pump WILL over heat and wear down and break. You should only pump for 5 mins or so and then let the pump rest for 15 mins (it's even in the instruction booklet). Your pumping strokes should be even, with about a one second pause at the top and bottom of your stroke. Frantic, fast pumping will only over heat your pump and cause it to fail well before it's lifetime.A hand pump is not the best or quickest way to fill your PCP gun, or very easy even, but it's definitely the cheapest way and if you don't have a local scuba shop or go somewhere remote it's about the only way. FYI, if you're 140 pounds or less, you're going to have a VERY hard time pumping up a gun past 2500 PSI.. it takes quite a bit of ooomph.

This pump rates a solid "DO NOT BUY". Mine is a few months over a year old and is headed back to the manufacturer for repair the third time!
