A properly installed ...

A properly installed CAR-type buttstock has a staked lock ring. This means the metal on the locking ring is actually hammered down in spots to keep it from loosening. This tool is not great for this set up. However if you just need it to install your collapsing stock for the first time, or you will not be staking your lock ring, this tool is great.

This is an absolute waste of material. Anything more than hand tight and this thing will bend instantly and mar your finish at the same time.

I'd like to echo the sentiments of another review, this wrench may not work well for staked or strongly LocTite'd castle nuts. However if you want a wrench for putting a new rifle together or taking apart one which hasn't been staked or glued with some insane adhesive this DPMS wrench is a great value for your money and works just fine; I've built several rifles using one and have had no issues.

Absolute garbage. Tooth broke off the first time I attempted to use it on a RRA CAR-15. Wish I had read the unfortunate experiences of others who purchased this piece of junk before I bought it. "Probably" works on a 1911A1 barrel bushing but I haven't tried it. Besides, I already own other tools for that. Total waste of money. On the flip-side, Midway delivered very quickly, as usual.

Very poor product... as others have stated, it's made of stamped steel and is not strong enough to back-off a factory tightened DPMS butt-stock nut. I'm surprised that DPMS would put their name on this tool. Don't waste your money.

This tool bent out of shape badly the first time I tried using it. Upon finally getting the nut to come loose, I noticed that the tip was bent to the point the it was about to break off. I went ahead and finished my work, and used this tool to tighten the nut back up, and SNAP... it broke right off, causing damage to the nut, and threads on the buffer tube. For the price, I could see having it as a "backup" or for a single use type tool, but if you plan on building or repairing more than one AR, I'd recommend a better one.
