Great scope.. Installed on my 45/70 Guide gun.. It really complements the gun without overpowering the looks as a larger scope would. The handling of the gun with the scope hasn't been affected as well. Holds zero!! This is a NO nonsense Heavy Duty Hunting scope.. Don't be swayed by the bells and whistles of other scopes for hunting.

I mounted this scope on my Ruger No.1 9.3x74R rifle with Control rings and base. The scope is clear and bright in low light conditions. I shot a boar at close range while it was running in a creek bottom. With the Leupold FX-II Ultralight rifle scope I was able to keep both eyes open to point and lead my rifle as I would a shotgun. My next rifle project will be a 45-70 and it will have a Leupold FX-II Ultralight rifle scope mounted on it.

I put this scope on a 45-70 guide gun Marlin. Scope is clear and bright, and seems to be very repeatable. I compared this scope extensively with the Weaver fixed K-series 2.5x 20. The Leupold was lighter and at least 2 inches shorter, a good bit clearer, and the Leupold's reticle was much sharper. For some reason however, the weaver had more magnification which was odd being they are both 2.5's. In my experienced opinion in various shooting disciplines, the 2.5 power is all one needs for 150 yard and closer hunting situations concerning deer sized game and larger.

I had this scope mounted on my 30-06 Mauser and it performed flawlessly. It endured numerous hunting seasons and dozens of practice sessions without shifting zero. The optics are wonderfully clear and provide a wide, bright field of view in all light conditions during legal NY hunting hours (sunrise to sunset). Hands-down my favorite big-game hunting scope.

This scope is of the finest quality, but something to take into consideration with low power scopes. I mounted this scope on my Ruger No, 1 tropical rifle in .416 Rigby, with 24" barrel. With Leupolds Ruger Low rings, the front sight was visible in the scope. I had to go to the High rings to get the front sight out of the sight picture.
