Part arrived at my door ...

Part arrived at my door on time as always thank you Midway. My main problem is it was said to be a gloss blue that matched an older Wingmaster, which mine is (1979), the problem is its more of a park finish, closer to that of my Mossberg 590A1. My other problem is it has a one and a half inch long scratch on the left side, looks to me as it was done with a pair of pliers, this is not Midways fault as the part was already put together maybe factory???? thats why god made touch up blue I guess, other than the finish, the fit was fine will test at the range and post a function review afterward.

Here is some information you should know if you purchase the Remington Magazine Extension Kits and you have a 870 with a Plastic Magazine Spring Retainer which can be seen if you remove the magazine cap. Quoting from the instructions:These shotguns require modification prior to the installation of the magazine tube extension. The shotguns do not use the magazine spring retainer clip. Instead, a plastic cap is held in place by two dimples formed into the magazine tube retaining the magazine spring and providing the detent action for the magazine cap.The two dimples must be removed before installation of the magazine extensions. The dimples extend into the magazine tube and prevent the ammunition and magazine follower from passing into the magazine extension.To eliminate the dimples, use a shotgun magazine tube dent remover or a round hand file and carefully remove the material.

These magazines have not been available for a long time! Fit and finish match the older Wingmaster Police and Wingmaster blued 870s. Finally, a completing accessory for that blued 870! Thank you, Midway USA!!

As far as I know, the blued steel magazine extensions have not been available for years now. The tube fit perfectly on my 1970s Wingmaster. I loaded six shells and they cycled just fine, just like you'd expect from a factory addition.The bluing is slightly different, being somewhat darker than the finish on mine, but it is acceptable and is certainly a much better aesthetic fit than the parkerized tubes that were the only ones available before. Now your Wingmaster or older Police model can have a factory tube that matches. Also, unlike the older blued tubes, this one is flush with the 18.5" barrel it's intended for; it does not stick out the front. Some say looks don't count on weapons, but a proper appearance with clean lines and matching parts show order, just one of many little details that add to the deterrence level of something that may be seen but not heard, as many violent encounters are stopped before they begin, by the prepared. Now that these are back in production, they are the only acceptable choice for owners of blued 870s seeking higher capacity.
