Have found this to be load of choice for CZ542 Varmint. Five-shot groups are 1" at 100 yds, and under 1/2" at 50 yds consistently. Does better for me than most of the expensive match ammo. Only Lapua Midas did well enough to justify the extra expense for my money. Five stars for accuracy and value.

As a follow up to my original post, I went through a full case this summer with great accuracy and no duds at all. That's 5,000 rounds without any problems except availability!

I've shot about 3,000 rounds of this in my Ruger Slabside and 10-22. Most in the Slabside. With the scoped and bagged Slabside, 3-shot, 1-inch groups at 100 yards are not uncommon. Very, very rarely miss a golf ball at 100 yards if there is no wind. It's the most accurate stuff I've found for my Slabside. For the 10-22, it's just fun to shoot. Had one misfire with the 10-22.

I tried several different ammos in my new Savage MkII and was disappointed in all of them. This ammo gave me a .30 five shot group at 50 yds. the first time.

Comparing the accuracy of several brands of rimfire ammo at 50 and 100 meters, Federal Gold Medal Premium out performed all of the others. The "others" included some very pricey Eley, SKJAGD, Wolf, CCI, Aguila and Remington. Out of my new heavy target barreled Savage rifle, the best group fired at 100 meters measured .168 inch. Rather incredible for both the ammo and the rifle. This particular lot of Federal 711B even beat out my all-time best at 100 meters fired with the old Federal Ultra Match UM1. Needless to say, I purchased all of this particular lot that I could afford to buy, which was also all I could find for sale. You can find me, my Savage rifle, and my Federal 711B ammunition on the firing line at the 2007 NRA smallbore rifle silhouette nationals.

I tried two boxes of this today at the range to compare it to the older white and blue box Federal Gold Medal 711B target ammo. The old white and blue box 711B would shoot 5/8 x 3/4" 10 shot groups at 58 yards in my 10/22 with target barrel. The 711B in the new box consistently shot 1/2 x 5/8" 10 shot groups. The 1/2x5/8" 10 shot groups are the same size I get with $7/box 22 target ammo such as the Fiocchi SM 340. I'll be buying a few 500 round bricks of this soon!

I usually shoot Eley Club Xtra or Match Xtra, but this was the only ammo available before a match. I shot some sighter targets before the match at 100 yds with my Anchutz 54 Silhouette rifle and this ammo printed 5 shot groups in the 3's. I was very impressed considering the modest price.

The Gold Medal Target .22lr on my Ruger 10/22 at 50 yds is incredible. I have been getting groups between .15"-.25" with this ammo.

Look. Reviews on ammunition should be taken with a grain of salt. Each gun will behave differently with different ammo. My CZ 452 shoots this ammo better than any other ammo I have tried -- inexpensive or expensive.

This ammo managed to print dime-sized groups at 25 yards shooting off the bench in my S&W 617. Excellent accuracy in that firearm, AND it's cheaper than the Eley and CCI stuff (which didn't shoot well at all in my 617). Sub-xring accuracy at both 50' and 25 yards, what else do I need other than a case or 3 of this lot?

Federal 711B is a good, predictable, moderately priced target round in my Anschutz 1712 Silhouette. Sight in groups are good and fliers have been my fault. I didn't give it five stars because because there has been a dud for every 150-200 rounds. I will probably still buy a case of this stuff for the silhouette season because it performs so well and costs about 25% less than the Eley Practice and about 35% less than the Eley Silhouex I've been using.

Performed amazingly at 50yds through my Kimber Hunter with a Nikon Buckmaster 4.5-14x scope. Just getting into .22 rifle shooting. Got sighted in and it was great! Much better than the CCI Green Tag I was using before.

Used Gold medal in my Cooper LVT today. This ammo shot very well at 50yds. One group down to .125 and a couple right at 1/4". It out shot my wolf Mt and My Rem eley. It did have a couple of flyers though. For ammo that is no all that expensive I would give these a try.

Pretty good round for the money. I Haven't gotten into the high end ammo yet but this is the best that I've tried other than the wolf ammo. I'm shooting 50 yards right now and this will get you 8 out of 10 shots in a quarter size hole with a couple of fliers per 10 rounds. I'm comparing brands at the moment and this one is in second from what I've tried. Great for the price.

This was a joint order, part of which was mine and the other part, which included the Federal Gold medal Ammo was for a friend. I have used some of it in a Cooper 57 and find it quite accurate.

Accurate and consistent performance for a moderately priced ammunition. Note: Federal WEB site has ballistic trajectory information. Quite useful.

Function is good but ammo has more report and flash than others I am currently using (SK, Lapua, Fiocchi). Accuracy from my Pardini SP from Ransom rest was marginal at best with consistent flyers from each group - 'almost' OK for practice but certainly not for a match. Of course these results are from my gun and this particular lot of 711B.

i shot this in my savage MKII BV and it shot over 1" groups at 50 yards, although it did chamber well and there were no misfires.

This ammo is what it is for $3.59 a box. Don't expect match grade accuracy, for that your gonna have to flip for the more expensive stuff. If you have a match grade rifle then you should expect to pay for match grade ammo. I find it better or eqaul to Wolf MT in the majority of my rifles. It does have some fliers, but not as many as Wolf MT. Also, this ammo is subsonic. If your gonna try to get it to cycle reliably in your auto loaders expect failures, most people with auto loaders should know this. Use the proper products for your equipment and you will have less complaints.

This is the only ammunition that was not powerful enough to cycle the action of my Ruger MK III (hunter) pistol. About 60% did not eject or partially ejected! The Ruger Company just suggested that I switch ammunitions. The ammunition was accurate, but was not as good as Winchester Super X.

I mistakenly purchased this based on the packaging, thinking it was the Gold Medal ammunition I have previously used. In a match chamber there is a definite difference in round to round diameter and chambering ease. Firing results were not match competitive, but for general plinking they were reasonable. So... for my purposes the ammunition is not what I expect, but for relaxed shooting or squirrel/rabbit popping it should provide acceptable results.

I compete in 50' slow fire pistol bullseye events on a very frequent basis. Frequently my scores are the highest in our league. My competition unit is a UltraDot scoped precision tuned Volquartsen Ruger match gun. I have been disappointed in the number of failures to ignite when the firing pin made a very distinct hit on the rim of the cartridge. I have had numerous feeding issues involving inconsistent cycling due to short stroking. My better groups with the GOLD MATCH run 1.25 to 1.75 which does not compare with those shot with CCI Green Tag or several of the Eley products. I have had VERY few problems with the two cartridges mentioned above. I will stick with the Eley in the future. Someone else can have my GOLD MATCH.

I purchased a brick of this thinking it was the same as the Gold Medal Target in new packaging. The Gold Medal Target was the most reliable of all the ammunition I tried in my FWB 93 pistol and tied for the tightest groups of 8 varieties of ammunition I tried. I would rate it as five stars and irreplaceable in its price range. This new "Premium" Gold Medal Target is definitely not the same. While it still functioned as reliably (no failures to feed, no stovepipes, no stuck casings and no failures to fire in 500 rounds) the accuracy was no longer there. It now shoots the worst bench rest groups of any ammunition I've tried - including Federal's own bulk copper plated hollow point. I'm deeply disappointed with Federal and that I will now have to start anew on a search for a accurate and reliable target ammunition to replace it.

Federal has changed more than the packaging of this ammo. I have shot many hundreds of rounds using the old Federal Gold Medal Target {711B} with 50 yard 10 shot bench rest groups from my heavy barrel target rifle well under one inch. This new production and name change to Federal Premium Gold Medal Target {711B} is pure junk. The best 10 shot group that I have been able to shoot with it was 1.75 inches. As well, I encountered several misfires.

Made direct comparison between this Federal Gold Medal, Eley Standard and Winchester Super-X. Same rifle shooting 5 shot strings alternating between types at random. 100 rounds of each type. Eley shot .75" groups consistently. Federal shot 1.5" groups consistently. Winchester shot 1.5" groups consistently. Winchester is a higher velocity small game type round but grouped as well as the Federal "target" ammo.
