Chip McCormick Match Grade Magazine with Base Pad 1911 Government, Commander 45 ACP 8-Round Stainless Steel

Purchased two of these for my new 1911-A1 Government. Both worked perfectly with no malfunctions. I intend to purchase a few more. Nice product, great price.

I have used them all but these magazines work in all my 1911s flawlessly.

I ordered three of these magazines and just about sent them back. One didn't trip the slide stop, and another did only intermittently. the problem was with my Springfield Armory 1911-A1, and not the magazines. A couple swipes on the slide stop with a file where it was binding on the magazine body was the fix. All three work perfectly now. Unlike more expensive magazines, these have steel followers and baseplates....I like that better.

Bought two for use in a PT1911. Fed both ball and JHP with no issues. Price is right, getting a couple more.

I bought two of these. I have used CMC standard and power mags in the past and have been really pleased with them. The match grade mags have all the things I like about the standard mags and a few more nice features like round count numbers stamped into the sides and also larger round visibility holes. I will definitely be buying more match grade mags.

I have been using the CMC magazines for years now and have found them to be durable and priced right. I used to use the Wilson mags and had many problems with them not wanting to function properly when loaded to 8 rd. capacity. I also had many problems with the removable synthetic bases cracking and in general being somewhat fragile when used in competition. I tried the CMC mags due to the very reasonable cost and was pleasantly surprised. They function flawlessly in all my 1911's and I now use them for carry as well. For darn near half the cost of the Wilson mags one cannot go wrong. I would recommend the base pads as a useful addition. Thank you.

I started with two. Great product. I was impressed with the quality. Works great with no hang ups or adjustments. I have purchased more and will again.

I've always liked CMC products and the Shooting Mag/Power Mag's are top of the line. All metal material gives me confident last shot lock up too.

I have four 10 round Power Mags, as well as three eight round Power mags, for my custom Colt 45 ACP; they work flawlessly. I am very pleased with their performance.

I have used these mags under very adverse conditions for over 3 years without one stoppage. They are the best bang for your buck!

These are the best .45 magazines available. Since switching to Chip McCormick Shooting Star magazines my 1911's reliability has gone up 110%. I haven't expierienced a magazine related malfunction with any of my CMC magazines with any type of ammo.

The magazine feeds all types of ammo in Colt. Have not experienced a single problem.

Magazine worked flawless on my Springfield Armory PC9105L 1911. I put throgh it Black Hills JHP,CCI Blazer/Remington/Wolf/Winchester/Fiocci FMJ, and Winchester silver tips......not a single jam. I only load them up to 7 rounds though, I never load them up to full capacity, as I"ve always found your more prone to feeding problems. Great buy!

Smooth... very nice and easy right out of the bad. Just enough tension on the spring.. loaded over 200 rounds consistently with no failures. Worth the price.

Good product but they're NOT Wilson 47d's! They do work ok in my 1911's and they are stainless. Loading the first round requires a little game with the follower then the rest load normally. My favorite thing with these mags is you can remove the huge bumper pad and you have a truly flush fitting 8 round mag.

I purchased three of these clips to use in competition. I use them in two different Springfield 1911 A1 guns and they have worked great. I have never had a feeding or jamming problem. Beware when installing the base pad. The screws will strip with very little effort.

I purchased 3 - 8rd McCormick mags for my new Kimber Tactical Custom II. These mags have functioned flawlessly with different brands of hardball and HP ammo. Another plus is that the spring allows you to load all 8 rounds easily without feeling it is too compressed and seat the magazine in the pistol with slide closed. I have found it difficult to get 8 rounds into other 8rd mags without using considerable force. I am concerned that the follower has too much forward play and may end up scoring the alloy frame in my pistol. Another negative is that the self-tapping screws supplied to attach the base pads simply will not in the stainless steel baseplates, unlike the nice Kimber mags that are already tapped for the base pad screws. See other comments below. That was a real disappointment with these mags and prevented a 5-star rating.

See above post. I was able to fix the jamming magazines by smoothing the sides of the follower.

I bought two of these mags and was very unhappy. When loaded to the full 8 rds. it would bind up and jam the gun. When I load with 7 rds. the mags function with out problems.

The base pad is not attached to the magazine when shipped. The self-tapping screws are much too soft to cut their own threads into the magazine base. Tap your own threads with a tap tool, or, replace the screws with a much harder self tapping alloy. If not for this FUBAR, the magazine may be worth four or five stars.

It got the two stars because of the price. The base pad screws do not fit the magazine. Thus, the base pad cannot be attached. The follower has a lot of forward movement. I am concerned about damaging my aluminum framed 1911. Don't want to go through the hassle of sending it back. Will buy from another manufacturer in the future.

I purchased 5- 8 round Shooting Star magazines and 3 of them stick when trying to push the cartridge up to the ready position causing no cartridge to be stripped off the magazine as the slide goes forward.

I am not particularly happy with these mags. Of the 9 that I bought, two repeatedly cause jams in my Kimber. The lip of these mags is 5 thousands wider than the rest. They jam with reloads and 230 grain hardball. I will be returning these to Midway.

Bought 2. One works fine; although tight getting 8th round in. The other won't load 8 rounds; have taken out spring, fooled with it. Something's wrong. Next time I'll get Wilson's.

I am very dissatisfied with this product. The fit is awful and the base pads would not attach to the bottom of the magazines.

I have used these magazines for three years in my Kimber Pro-Carry Stainless, which has an aluminum frame. After tens of thousands of rounds, I began having feeding problems. It ultimately jammed twice during an IDPA match ending any hope of a decent finish. I had changed the springs the previous year so I did not suspect them. I began examining the feed ramp in the aluminum frame. I noticed a significant gouge in the aluminum. Further study showed that the follower on the CMC magazines was being pulled forward as the last round in the magazine was picked up. Over time, the follower had gouged the softer aluminum. The gouge finally got so deep that it would catch the follower on the last round, preventing proper feeding of the final round. I proceeded to polish the gouge and then put 250 rounds through the pistol without a problem, even with the CMC magazines. I will be switching to Meg-Gar magazines, as their followers are designed such that they cannot touch the feed ramp. I wouldn't worry about using these mags in a steel framed 1911, but in my opinion, they are unsuitable for aluminum framed guns.

This magazine works well from the standpoint of reliability, but the special follower, if not fitted well at the factory, can be pushed forward while the gun is in operation, and the lower part of it can dig into the frame just below the feed ramp causing a deep scratch. I have two of these magazines, and one of them did this to my Colt Series '70 Gold Cup. Watch out if you have an aluminum frame gun for sure.

I am the odd one out, the supplied screws for the foot pad are a step away from useless, the bottom of the mag is not pre-treaded for them, and I am not a big fan of the feed ramp design.

I did not like these magazines. The follower moves forwards and backwards and doesn't maintain a constant angle. The follower would not hold the slide open on an empty magazine due to the forward movement. The packaging also states that there are 7 reasons ammo fails to feed other than a bad magazine, seems like they are trying to pass the buck on poor feeding. They also state on the packaging that "any Model 1911 magazine function best with bullets that have a smooth contoured nose, seated to an overall length of at least 1.260 inches" I guess they have never measured Federal 230 gr. Hydra-Shoks or Winchester SXT 230 gr. which both measure 1.210 inches. So do you use these with real defensive ammo?

I am not pleased with this purchase. I purchased 4, I was unable to tap the screws to attach the base pads. I followed McCormick's instructions. Returned them, sent 4 new ones that looked suspiciously (based on the marks on the screws) like the same 4 I had, down to a drop of coffee that was spilled on an insert in the mag package. The "new" 4 also would not tap. Midway provided McCormick's tel #. They advised that I should get a 4-40 tap. Obviously no one else has this problem, so I don't presume I am not the idiot here, but I don't think I should have to have a machine shop to attach base pads to a new mag...they should kind of work in the first place. Midway of course offers to do the usual, so I have to decide if I want to go to the hassle of packing them up again for another return or just keeping them sans base pads....

This product damaged a brand new SW1911. The follower hits the feed ramp hard every time the last round is fed causing deep scratches. Sure it worked, but the SW magazines work without damaging your pistol. What a fitting name "Chip".
