Sierra MatchKing Bullets 30 Caliber (308 Diameter) 168 Grain Hollow Point Boat Tail

This is THE finest, most consistant bullet I have ever seen. Weigh an entire box on a good scale and I will be shocked if the spread is over .2gr. These people know how to make a bullet and I have found nothing that will shoot in my .308 heavy as well. Quality that you can count on.

The Sierra 168 grain HPBT are performing as I expected. I have been shooting the Sierra 168 grain bullets in M1s, M1As, M14s, and .30 cal match rifles since 1975. I have never been disappointed in their performance.

The Sierra 168gr HPBT MatchKings are superb in my brand new, completely stock Savage 12 F/TR. Three shot groups at 100 yds are .24" ctc to .375" ctc and are easily completely covered with a penny!

I have shot this bullet in my .308 Win for more than 12 yrs. Every box I have ever shot has delivered the finest accuracy I could ask for. For 100yd to 600yd, I would not use anything else!!!

Very accurate bullet. Shoots half inch or better at 100 yards in my Savage .308. Best load I have tried in my rifle is 43.8 gr. Varget. This bullet shoots just as accurate as some custom match bullets I have tried, for a lot less money.

Very good first results, accuracy, and performance in a Remington 700 VS. I am still working on best load.

The best I have ever loaded for a .308 Remington 700 Varmint rifle. One inch (5 shot) groups or better at 100 yards, and consistently so. I use WLRM primers with H380 or H4895 powder on the hotter side,and a light crimp, using Lee Reloading equipment. Excellent performance, and ideal weight for long distances, over 200 yards. I have tried more expensive bullets that simply did not work at all. Best performance for a bullet no matter what the price.

In my experience these bullets are truly KING! Forget 3 shots-1 hole. I can put 5 of these babies in one hole consistently with my handloads. With shelf Federal GM .308 ammo, 3 to 4 shots-1 hole. That’s why I buy 500 @ a time. I use Lapua brass and IMR 4064 in my HS Precision rifle. -Happy shooting to U !!!

Just last week at fort Gordan I shot in the mid 180's out of 200 total points this was with a 300 win mag at the 1000 yard line. I only used the 168's because I ran out of 190gr SMK . but the scores show that the 168's fly good even out to 1000yards

The best bullet that left a 26 inch barrel on a (.308) Rem 700 VS!! Almost three in one hole. I find the best loads are using H380 and H4895 on the hot side. It helps if you crimp the bullets moderately.

Started out using this bullet about 8 years ago in my Savage Tactical .308. Has been a very fine shooting bullet. 1 in. or less at 200 meters. Use Lapua brass, 42.5 gr. VhitaVori N140, CCI primer, Springfield Armory Governmet 3rd. Generation scope (which is factory calibrated for this bullet)

I can hold 5 shots in one hole @ 100 yds. in my savage mod.12 with a 26" barrel. Sierra is the best around. using Varget or RE-15 with federal primers.

This is the most accurate 30 cal bullet for 300 yards or less, it also does well at 600yards. Do not shoot at 1000yds out of a 308...it goes subsonic and often key holes.The 175 is better for 1000 in a 308.

No other bullet compares. My custom .308 shoots one hole at 300 yards using Lapua Brass, IMR 4064 and FED Primers. The 175gr. Sierra HPBT is a better bullet for distances above 300 yards up to 1000.

This is the only bullet I will use in my M1A Springfield. For matches or hunting I think it performs the best. I use IMR 4895 for 2600 fps and shoot 5 shots under a nickle consistantly with a fixed 10X Mil-Dot scope. With open sights I shot a 10 shot string that had 7 shots under a quarter and the other 3, 1 was high and had a 1/4 inch of paper between it and the main group. Two were low , 1 at 7 o'clock with a 1/4 inch of paper seperating it from the group and 1 was at 5 o'clock with 3/8 inch of paper on it. Shooting a High Power match one day I ran a string, with hardly any wind to mess me up, at 800 yards (prone position) I got 14 X's with the other 6 in the 10 ring. That to date is the best I have ever shot. Let me add I've never done that again. They recommend not to hunt with these bullets but even at 800 yards they will put a coyote down with one shot. And the fluid body ballistics are awsome, with large exit holes. Weight retension is also something that I tthink is important in a bullet and I have recovered many bullet that still weighed up in the 150 grain range. With the small hollow point you get some expansion but not as much as a large hollow point. You mainly get the large conical shape wound due to the bullet being knocked off its axis and going end over end. This moves a lot fluid that makes for a one shot kill. I hunt in the Sierria Navada mountians and it's not uncommen to get a 500 yard shot( from one mountian to another) during deer season. I wanted to see how close, in weight, they were so I put some on the scale and everyone I weighed was 168 grains. After the first 5 being dead on I thought to myself, this can't last long, but after 25 I was convinced I bought the right bullet. In .308 cal. for the heavey 300 Win. Mag down to the .308 Win. I don't think you can get a more consist shooting bullet than the Matchking. That's not saying they are not out there, I'm sure they are for more money, I'm just saying in my opinion these work great. I have many friends that shoot the Matchking in 7mm Mags to 300 Win. Mags in weights from 168 grain to 220 grains and all of them think the same as I do. I have used these bullets to hunt ground squirrels, coyotes, pigs, deer, bobcat and bear and have only had to use two shots to down an animal twice and both time it was bear at 300+ yards. So if you haven't tried these get a box, load them up and see for yourself how accurate they really are.

I have used this bullet for over 20 years with excellent results. Recently I tested the Sierra, Nosler, and Hornady .308 dia. bullets, all 168 gr. match hollow points. Using a Remington 700VF with 26" barrel and a 700 LTR with 20" barrel shooting all three bullets loaded with Win 748 powder in neck sized R-P cases and CCI 250 primers on the same day at 100 yards, I got three shot groups averaging 3/8" with the Sierra, 1/2" with the Nosler and 3/4" with the Hornady bullets. Both rifles are stock with 1 in 10" twist barrels and only the triggers have been modified, to let off at 2 3/4 Lbs. In my rifles, the Sierra 180 gr Match King does even better than the 168 gr, especially at 300+ yards. Sierra bullets cost a bit more than the other brands but are worth the extra cost for their superior accuracy, at least in my particular rifles.

I have tried many different bullets but keep coming back to the Sierra 168 MK. Consistent .226 to .268 groups all day long in a REM 700 with 5R barrel using IMR 4064 or RE-15. Absolute best bullet ever.

With a Rem 700 XR100 single shot .308 (special run through Gander Mountain), I've never had a group go over the size of a quarter at 100 yards. This was the first bullet I tried to develop with my rifle, and I see no reason to switch. I've used RL15, 4064, and Varget in my test loads. This bullet worked well with all of them without exception. Right now I'm shooting golf balls at 300 yards on a regular basis. The 5-shot group size at 400 is under an inch. My best 100 yard group is .18" with Varget so far. Believe the rest of these guys...this is the best bullet for the money, if not the best period.

I use these bullets in my WWII O3A4 Sniper rifle for our WWII sniper rifle matches. They shoot better than Hornady's, and the same as Berger's. It was a no-brainer to use these bullets when comparing the price of Berger's. Thumbs up!

I put off trying these because I was a little hesitant about buying a 500pk of bullets I had never tried before. After hearing lots of good things I bought a box and glad I did. With Varget and Fed. primers my groups stay around 3/8in. at 100yrds. Before these 1/2in. was about all I figured my Savage would do or I could hold. I also like that Sierra's moly doesn't rub off like the Hornady bullets I was reloading. Unless hunting these Sierras are all I will feed my Savage.

Good bullet!!! I hold about .5 moa at 100 yards out of my Rem 700 vtr. Good for punching paper and for hunting whitetail deer and other smaller game.

This is the most accurate bullets i have tried in my 700 Varmint 308 with 1-12 twist. This load shoots 1/4 inch groups with Federal Match Brass , 42 gr Hod. 4895, Fed 210M.

I took this bullet last month to the State MBABR Shoot-off match using my 03A3 Springfield. I had the 2nd smallest group out of about 50 shooters. It was my first time to use this bullet in any match and I've never shot so well. It is a superior bullet if you are looking for consistent accuracy and match victories. I just wish I had started using it 3 years ago.

EXELLANT PRODUCT. I use them for my Rem 700 308 loaded with Win 748 and have 3 shot groups .1" - .25" @ 100 yards. I was using Hornady A-max but recently switched. The inconsistency with bullet weight with the Hornady was significant (+/- .5 grains), however, the Sierra was within +/- .1 grain. There is a reason most competitors are using them...THEY SHOOT GREAT !!!

This is the only bullet I use in My Rem. 700VLS .308. Five round, 1/4" groups at 100 yds. using Varget, CCI Benchrest primers and Winchester brass is common using bullet. I would highly recommend this bullet or any other Sierra bullet.

First used these about 15 years ago. They gave me the best accuracy with reloads for 30-06 of the many I tried back then. In those days, it was even considered a hunting bullet, yet experience soon had Sierra rightfully disclaim it as such. It is too frangible. For competition at long range, only the heavier versions of this same bullet do as well or better.

I was able to get one single ragged hole in the .2s with a Winchester M70 Stealth using Lake City brass, Fed GM 210 primers and Varget all loaded with Redding dies and press, plus I neck turned the cases. Outstanding, especially since I just started rolling my own and the rifle hasn't had any work done on it other than a shade tree gunsmith trigger job.

This bullet will really help you bring out the full accuracy potential of your rifle. I have been using them since 2003 and I will never go back to the expensive “match” bullets I used to use. You can’t go wrong with Sierra, the make the best bullets for long shots.
