Lee Pro 20 Furnace 110 Volt

Outstanding product. For the price it can't be beat.

Well, out of the box I would have only given it 1 or 2 stars, but once I worked the kinks out it's a pretty good performer. At first it wouldn't sit flat on the table, but that was because the holes for the pot support were in the wrong place and it was twisting the base plate. As for spout leakage that others complained of, well, I haven't had such problems. Of course, I did doctor the valve assembly a little... I processed 85 lbs of wheel weights yesterday with only a few tiny drips, and then today cast 150 rounds of Lyman 454190's with no leakage at all.

I have been using this pot since it first was made available several years ago. Holds about 20lbs of lead, heat control works very well, no problem with pot leaking. All in all, very good product for that price. I would recommend it.

Concur with other comments on the valve leaking. Constantly have to keep working the valve in order to stop the leaking. Also, had the control thermostat blow it's 15A fusible link. Once I had it all a part, found that the split nut holding the coils to the pot cover were rubbing on the coil contacts (evidence of arcing). Found this out after blowing out another control thermostat on an old Lee melter, and then using a multimeter to figure out what was shorting out the thermostat's fusible link. Now that I found the issue, I will add a couple washers (spacers) to the split nut in order to keep it from shorting out on the coil cotnacts (again). Oh, and now I have to order another 191446 control thermostat so that I can melt wheel weights for bullets before the weather gets too cold to make decent bullets. Other than that, great product.

I gave this pot a 3 star because as with other people's rating remarks - IT LEAKS. Lee says it holds 20 lbs. I can't get more than 17lbs of wheel weight/linotype alloy ingots in it. 17lbs comes right up to the edge and can't be fluxed without spilling over the edge. So the working load is 16lbs to flux properly and use. I do like this pot over the 10lb model because of the wider pot and faster melt time.

The pot does leak. It needs to be watched closely when first turning it on and when adding lead. The rod/valve that stops the lead from coming out has a tendency to come out of the hole and not go back in, as there are no "guides" to keep it in place and no amount of adjusting seems to help.

One of the few Lee products that I have been unhappy with. The twenty pound capacity and infinite heat control are good. The metering rod adjusting screw hole is so sloppily machined in the operating handle that the adjusting screw often pops out of the metering rod. The result is that the valve is then fully open with the operating handle in the down position. Only quick action with a hammer or screw driver to reseat the metering rod can stop the flow of molten lead. The short vertical clearance under the pot does not allow an ingot mold to be placed under the spout while actually casting. Stick with Lee's excellent production pot 4 and avoid this disaster.

This melter is junk you spend more time turning the stopper with a screwdriver to stop it from dripping than you do casting bullets. you get what you pay for.
