Includes an automatic bolt release that enables the shooter to simply pull back bolt slightly to the rear to release it. Also includes target grade hammer, hammer shims and hammer spring. Hammer is precision surface ground to provide a 2-1/2 lb trigger pull. Requires disassembly of the trigger assembly for installation.

Material: Steel

Hammer:

  • Hammer notch is precision surface ground, no stoning or fitting is required
  • Reduces trigger pull to approximately 2.5lbs
  • Includes hammer spring and shims

    Bolt Release:
  • Replaces factory bolt lock, and allows shooter to release bolt by pulling bolt slightly to the rear
  • Easy drop-in installation

Please Note: Some Ruger 10/22 models will require the use of two Ruger hammer bushings for proper insallation (product 510559). 10/22's that already have separate hammer bushings will not need new ones as the factory ones can be re-used.

Absolutely essential for highly accurate 10/22 shooting. Whether you have a stock carbine or 10/22 "T" model, this kit vastly improves the trigger, reducing pull weight and take-up considerably. Last weekend, I shot a "Rifleman" score at an Appleseed event with a 10/22 using this trigger & bolt release modification. The bolt release is a huge convenience. It lets you simply pull back on the charging handle to chamber the first round from a locked-open condition.

The stock trigger on a new 10/22 is so heavy that one cannot shoot accurately unless you have a few of your sandbags on top of the gun to hold it still. If you do any precision work on paper or hunting this is the very first thing you should add to your gun, as it really does make the trigger manageable and it breaks clean enough to get solid hits at 280 yards all day long! Stock 10-22, Bushnell Elite 3200, 15 MOA scope base, this trigger, and good ammo. That is all you need to make the gun accurate, the rest is just for show.

Works great. My 10/22T's trigger pull was about 4-1/2 lbs. The VQ kit took it down to just over 2lbs. Note, this kit includes a trigger return spring. Installing it can be a bit tricky, but doing so allows you to get the most of out the kit - so don't skip this step. The auto bolt-release is a must-have. Just pull the bolt and let go - works like a charm. I installed both together with the B&C extended mag release. Everything works flawlessly together. All-in-all, a great value.

Like everyone else, I wasn't quite happy with the stock 10/22 trigger pull so I ordered this kit. It took me about 30 minutes to install the hammer, bolt release, recoil buffer, and an extended mag release. This was the first time I had taken my 10/22s trigger group apart, so if you've done that before you could probably finish it quicker. The trigger pull is now MUCH lighter and there is no more fiddling with the bolt release. I had heard on several rimfire forums that the Ruger spring is better to use than the Volquartsen one so I kept it in and I am happy with the results.

I hope to post a better score at the next indoor shoot as I will no longer need to aim high and to the left to hit the bulls eye on my trigger squeeze. It is now nice and crisp.

Outstanding product-with a trigger assembly diagram and 10 minutes of free time, these parts delivered precisely as advertised. Bolt release is a major improvement, and the hammer is excellent--took my nasty 7-8lb stock trigger pull right down to around 2.5lb with only the slightest amount of creep. I really believe that for the price, the is the single best thing you can do to dramatically improve your stock 10/22. One word of caution...the new 10/22's come with a single-piece hammer, so if you have one of those, you'll also need to get two hammer bushings for this particular kit to work.

I'm thrilled with this since I got it on sale. However, the instructions for the auto bolt release were minimal and there were no instructions at all for the hammer kit. I managed to install everything correctly, and this is even my first rifle! I've never modified any firearms before and I was able to handle this. It's a good value for the money even without the instructions.

I would like to to see a person find a gunsmith that would build a forged stainless hammer, make a bolt release and get it to be as reliable as this stuff. Fair break for under 45 bucks. It's not a $300 match trigger but it is not too far off.

While the instructions are sparse, there are many online videos showing how to replace these parts. I did not use the VQ Hammer Spring, I left the factory one in. There was no noticeable difference to me using the new trigger return spring, so it may be worthwhile to leave your trigger as is.... Replacing the trigger pin with the trigger, sear, sear spring was not fun, but the hammer and auto bolt release were a snap. Brought my trigger weight way down with the VQ hammer, and the auto bolt release makes the rifle work the way it ought to. Take your time, watch a video or two before doing anything, and then you should have a good idea how to change out these parts.

First off, this kit comes with the bushings that are required to install in a newer 10/22. Install was into a 2009 made stainless steel composite 10/22. I don't have a trigger scale, but the differences are night & day. It's actually scary how light my trigger pull is now... this will definitely take some getting used to. I can't imagine what changing the whole trigger group would do. Thank goodness I decided to try changing the hammer before spending the money to change the whole trigger group. Coming with the bolt release makes this upgrade the cheapest & best upgrade for the money. Highly recommend!

I bought 2 of these, having never done anything like this before. My son and I disassembled his 10/22 first, then I thought "what have I done?!?", but we pulled ourselves together and thanks to an online video (the included directions weren't that great), we were able to completely put this back together and learn quite a bit about the action of the 10/22 at the same time. The trigger pull is amazingly light now -- quite an improvement! And what's best is that we could do the second one without even looking at directions for help.

There's a bit more creep but the lighter trigger pull already feels sweet. Will be shooting this weekend to put it through its paces... The instructions are adequate - but get your 10/22 manual out to reference the part numbers & “exploded view” in the back. Installed in about 20-minutes or so - took my time as I hadn't pulled the stock trigger components out before. As noted in other reviews - just the bolt-release feature is worth the price of this kit. The auto-bolt release is stainless as a quick FYI - which is nice since my 10/22 is also stainless, but where it “sticks out” in front of the trigger could look out of place on a wood stock or blued 10/22 maybe. Another FYI for newer 10/22 owners (with the hammer that has doesn't have separate bushings...) - this kit appears to now ship with the hammer bushings! I didn't need them but wanted to pass that along. Ordered on a Tuesday, shipped on a Wednesday, delivered on Friday - 4-days ahead of the planned delivery date... thanks Midway!

This is one of the simplest and fastest upgrades a do-it-yourselfer can perform for the 10/22. These parts are well-machined, and some hand finish work was evident also. They arrived drop-in ready, and the installation is practically a no-brainer. I heard criticisms about the instructions, but honestly, I never even looked at them. Anyone with the least bit of knowledge about this rifle will not have a difficult time with this 5-minute process. The results...immediate! A very nice trigger pull right away, and the more "intuitive" bolt release is a huge improvement. Highly recommend...

If you want to improve your trigger on your 10/22, this kit is the trick!!! My original trigger felt as if the safety was permanently "on"! Now, it is just over 2 lbs, and very crisp. Before you disassemble the trigger, get an exploded view, because there is not one included in the brief instruction papers. The bolt release that operates when you simply pull back on the bolt is worth the kit price by itself, but when you add the crisp, light trigger, you have a tremendous bonus improvement. Be careful when changing the hammer spring! If you hold the hammer spring guide in between wood in a vice, you can remove the old spring easily and change it without damaging the spring or the guide. Great product!

Good product and really improved my trigger. Went from 7.2 lb stock to 2.4 lb after. Does require disassembly of trigger group. This kit came with all shims and hammer spacers required. Why 4 stars instead of 5? (1) Trigger return spring not strong enough to consistently reset trigger after firing. Replaced stock return spring and works great. The lighter spring didn't give any appreciable reduction in pull weight. (2) A hint of roughness (creep) just before hammer drops. (A little polishing will probably help) I would certainly recommend this product as an inexpensive way to greatly improve your 10/22 factory trigger. Auto disconnect was easy to install as well and works great. Finally, I would recommend you use your stock Ruger springs. Midway as always is fantastic to do business with.

A great first modification for the seminal 10/22, this basic kit will not only reduce trigger pull weight and add a modern convenience to the bolt release, once installed, it also leaves the user with a better understanding of the internal workings of their rifle. This reviewer was provided instructions that were lacking what seems to be a common component of any well prepared instruction set: a well illustrated diagram of the parts involved. Such a diagram can be easily found on the internet, and I found several YouTube videos that were of much help, as well. Four out of five stars, very recommended.

As others state, trigger pull is greatly reduced but still has creep and overtravel, bolt release is heavenly, and hammer installation instructions are non-existent. The kit also comes with a lighter hammer spring (to speed lock time with the lightened hammer) and lighter trigger return spring (to further reduce trigger pull). But light trigger return spring didn't return my trigger, and light hammer spring failed to fire 5 out of 50 times. We put the stock springs back in, and it now works flawlessly.

Significantly reduced the trigger pull for minimal cost. Great for hunting/plinking, but target shooters will want more work done anyway. Bolt release works as advertised. Was pleased that it came with hammer bushings in the kit, as the new Ruger hammer has them integrated. Installation was relatively simple, but aforementioned bushings needed a little fitting work in order for them to allow the pin through. It wasn't bad, but cost it the last star in my book.

Great product, a very worthwhile upgrade at a great price. My only complaint in that the installation instructions were very poor. I ended up using the 10/22 diagram from the Midway catalog to completely disassemble the trigger assembly, switch out the parts, and then reassemble with the new parts. However, I'm not a gunsmith, nor do I play one on TV, and I didn't have too much trouble figured it out.

Purchased this kit to upgrade my son's 10/22 trigger. I had a trigger job done on my 10/22 several years ago by a gunsmith and thought this could be a lower cost alternative. Pros: This is a fantastic product and well worth the money. After completing the trigger job, my son's trigger is better than my gunsmith trigger job. Very crisp release at 2.5lbs. I am purchasing a second one for my 10/22. Cons: The directions are not as comprehensive as they could be. We needed to combine the provided directions with the 10/22 manual you can find at MidwayUSA to complete the job.

Offers a much improved trigger. I took the trigger group apart COMPLETELY, cleaned it all up, set the parts to be replaced aside, and reassembled using the mediocre instruction sheet and my Ruger owner's manual. I suppose it took an hour and a half or so. I'd recommend it to anyone who's sick of the horrid stock trigger.

Overall, an excellent product that provides dramatic improvement over the stock trigger and bolt release. Installation instructions are lacking however. Users should either watch the installation video on Volquartsen's web site or at least pay close attention when taking the factory trigger assembly apart. When installing the spring be sure to position it on the guide so that the end is held down by the guide ears or it might interfere with the hammer.

I purchased this pack thinking that the Volquartzen parts would be top notch. Well this one has an obvious blemish down the front of the hammer that is machined off near the sear engagement. The pull is a bit gritty and not as clean as some of my home jobs. Will probably last longer than a do it yourself but I was not pleased with the pull. Too long and gritty from the start. I'm going to try a power custom set on sale for $45 with sear and see if it's a better product. Bolt lock worked fine but that's an easy modification anyway. Maybe the first rate hammers go into the other packs by themself for the same price.

While this package is a very good deal over buying the parts separately, the improvement in operation after installing them is modest. Perhaps if I had purchased a full trigger/hammer modification I would have experienced a greater improvement in function. The bolt release by itself is useful, though.

Technically it works great. Reduced the trigger pull to slightly above 2lbs and the automatic release works flawless. Two reasons why I did not give it a better rating: There is zero documentation on how to put the hammer pack in (O.K. - it was not too hard to figure it out but at least some words around how it is supposed to be would be great - maybe even some words around where to put the shims and why the springs are needed would have been helpful). The seocnd thing is that the bolt release part is not blued. Not a big thing but looks a little bit weird having a silver part in a black trigger box. Bottom line: Technically great but no documentation and silver bolt release.

I purchased this hammer kit on sale to replace a butchered factory hammer in a used Ruger I acquired a while ago. The quality of all the parts in the kit are excellent! This hammer is one of the few replacements available as Ruger will not sell you any fire control factory parts which includes the hammer. As for producing a better trigger pull? Most of the aftermarket triggers including the Volquartsen will reduce the force required to release the hammer but that's ALL it will do. While you might find a slight improvement in trigger pull quality if your stock trigger group is really nasty, the reality is, you'll end up with a creepy/gritty/ over travelled trigger with a reduced pull force. You will never get a truly excellent trigger without the hand work by a experienced properly equipped human being tuning your trigger group in your specific gun. The automatic bolt release works flawlessly. It is an addition that all 10-22's should have. I usually just modify the stock release as it is easy once you now how. The release supplied with my kit was nickel plated not blued. I recommend putting your money towards a professionally done trigger job using the stock Ruger trigger parts. Unless you need an available replacement 10-22 hammer.

I might have been able to give this product a higher rating, had I been able to install it. I recently purchased my 10/22 and when I stripped the trigger group, only then did I realize that the new factory installed hammers are ONE PIECE and do not have separate bushings. Of course the Volquartsen hammer requires bushings and there were none in the kit. They of course are sold separately and they of course, were out of stock - no doubt because many other new 10/22 owners found one piece hammers like I did. Surely, somebody knew the hammer design has been changed, yet there was no indication from anyone that bushings would be needed to complete Volquartsen hammer installation on newer 10/22's. Before you buy this kit, disassemble your trigger group and make sure that you don't also need to order hammer bushings. I found the instructions totally adequate, but the lack of a warning about the possibility of needing hammer bushings totally frustrating.

Poor quality compared to past experience. Extremely rough surfaces, pivot hole in bolt release would accept the pin with out significant rework. Covered with burrs and stamping deformation.
