I installed this kit on my daughter's 10/22 in less than an hour. Part of the time was spent making slave pins - the installation was relatively simple. Trigger pull went from about 8 pounds to a consistent 2-1/2, and the finish on my parts was excellent. The 10/22 should come this way from Ruger!!

This product does what it says! It does in fact reduce the trigger pull to 2 lbs. I measured mine with an NRA approved trigger weight set, it came in just a hair over 2 lbs. As others have stated, this product comes with no directions; but if you are familiar with the disassembly of the 10/22 you can install this product in about 15 to 30 min. My trigger still has some creep and over-travel, but this due to the other stock parts. For the price, this is the best modification you can make to a 10/22.

This is an awesome upgrade for anyone with a 10/22. I had never installed anything like this before but I used www.ruger22.com and the website instructions helped. Important: you can skip a few steps if you are just installing this hammer. You won't need to remove the magazine release, magazine plunger and spring, or the bolt release plate. All the pieces worked well and my trigger action improved dramatically. It was a fluke that I found this item but I'm very happy with this inexpensive upgrade. I'll be shooting this rifle a lot more in the future.

Works as advertised. This is definately the best initial modification you can do to a 10/22. Instant "perfect" trigger. Using different combinations of the parts provided (shims, hammer, trigger spring, hammer spring) you can customize the trigger pull to your preference. Leave all the stock springs in and just use the hammer for a good but not overly light pull, or use all the VQ parts for a light pull.

I had planned on getting one of these for my Ruger 10/22 Carbine since I purchased the rifle but always seemed to spend the money on something else. Comparing the trigger on my rifle to the trigger on a friend's who had this nifty piece installed made me a believer and I had one shortly. It does require you to disassemble the trigger group of your rifle. This is not difficult, but can be tedious, esp if it is your first time. I recommend you have a clear table or work area and 1/2 hour or so of quite time to install. I am not a gunsmith but my brother and I were able to install it with little difficulty and these provisions. Before the unit was installed in my rifle, the rifle could be cleared, cocked, taken off safe, and held with the entire weight of the rifle and a 3-9 Tasco supported only by the trigger on your finger. You could even bounce it somewhat without the trigger breaking. I would estimate trigger weight before this hammer was installed to be a gritty 6 pounds or so. Now it is a crisp 2 pounds or so with the slightest hint of creep and absolutely no overtravel. It was such a difference that my shooting suffered initially just because I had to get used to it! The 1/2 hour of your time it takes to install this product is well worth it. My only regret was that I didn't cough up the dough sooner. As expressed above, this is certainly the best first modifcation you can make for your 10/22, and if I were limited to only one, this would be it.

I have now bought 3 and installed all 3 and the trigger pull is always between 2 1/4 and 2 1/2 pounds. It takes about 30 minutes to install but is the easiest way to get a decent trigger. I only had to replace the hammer and hammer spring and add the 2 shims. It's very easy and well worth the money.

Another excellent product from the people at volquartsen. I used all parts included with the hammer and installed them in about thirty minutes. Installatinon was fairly easy and pull weight on my trigger was reduced from a little over 6# to about 2 and 1 quarter pounds. A little mold flashing still remained on the hammer around the engagement surface but it buffed away with no problems. Overall I'm very pleased with the product.

I got home today and found my new hammer in the mail.Ten minutes later, I'm fumble fingered today, I had the hammer in. Oh,what a difference! I don't have a scale, but if the pull ain't under half the factory trigger pull I'll eat the gun! As far as instructions, I didn't read em, read some online, duh. A slow 8 year old with missing fingers could do it. Dive in, anyone can do it. Hammer well worth the money, and more!

I just finished installing this in my 10/22, all of a 20 minute job. Trigger pull before was 8lbs, after install, 3-4lbs! This was verified on my new Lyman Trigger Gauge, also from Midway. What the picture doesn't show, was that this kit comes with the bushings necessary to install on the new 10/22s, with the plastic trigger group/bushingless hammer. Great kit, okay directions. I found better instructions on the internet, complete with pictures, at a 10/22 help site. Very easy to install, great results. Buy it!

This must the be the best 40 bucks you can spend on your 10/22. Wow....I have purchased other trigger groups, and have spent much more money than needed. I must say....for $40 it turns your stock 10/22 into something that feels like it cost $500. Drops trigger pull from 7lbs to 2.25-2.75 depending on the manufacturing date on your gun. The machine work and materials are second to none. Sure my match guns trigger is a bit cleaner but it is not $200 better. Good buy. I think that the heavy hammer spring makes it cycle more smoothly too.

You really can't go wrong with this product. For 38 bucks you get the performance of a 150.00 trigger job. It may not break as crisp as a full match trigger but for the weekend warrior I must say it is not too far off. As long as your other internals are not worn to heck you will have great results with this product. I found on my RBCS tigger gauge the let off was 2 LBS 6 oz....not bad at all. The extra weight of the hammer and spring really make for a smooth acting action as well. A+ for under 40.00 bucks.

I ordered one of these hammers and it arrived today. I spent some time this week reading instructions and advice on www.ruger22.com/ so I was ready when the hammer arrived. Based on the advice I read, I had already made an assembly pin to aid in the reinstallation of the Trigger/Sear assembly. I was able to accomplish the entire job in 20 minutes. I now have a crisp and very light trigger. It feels like a custom trigger job from a good gunsmith. By the way, my kit did include instructions from Volquartsen. The instructions said that the assembly pin was included but it was not so the one I had made in advance from an old 1/8 inch drill bit came in handy.

You can't go wrong with this! I rounded the strut ball as called for in the instructions then installed the VC hammer and spring. Pull was reduced from about 8 lbs to 2 lbs which was a little too light for me, so I reinstalled the Ruger hammer spring (along with Wolff sear and trigger springs which I also bought) and now have about 2.5 lbs. There still is a little creep but it is consistent. I went to the range today - and I doubt that there is any other way to improve accuracy on a 10/22 so much for so little.

I think this is the best thing to put in your 10/22. It brought my trigger pull down to about 2.5 lbs. I have very limited experience doing things like this, but it was still a breeze. The hammer spring is a little hard to put in, but well worth it. Great product for not that much money. Especially when you live in an area that doesn't have any gunsmiths, like where I live.

Just installed this in a newer 10/22T. What an improvement, night and day just like everyone else says. Installation is not difficult even with the limited instructions that are given, take your time. There are some good resources on the web. The trigger assembly I have is the newer plastic housing and the original hammer had bushings on it. With that, the new kit does come with bushings but the I.D. of the bushings were too small for the pin in mine too go through, so check before you install them. Some people have mentioned that they did not know where to put the shims, the shims go between the bushing and the hammer, it takes up all the side to side play. Another tid bit of info is on the trigger\sear assembly,(you only need to disassemble this far if you are going to change the hammer return spring) it's easier to slave the "pin hole" that goes through the assembly before reinstalling it into the housing. What I did was take a q-tip and cut it to fit and then just pushed it through with the pin when it was in the housing. The rest you can figure out easily enough. No need to hesitate on this.

A very well made product. This turned a clunker of a trigger into a smooth action. Definitely reduces the amount of pull needed to fire. The reason I gave only 4/5 stars is that according to the instructions there should have been an assembly pin included for the trigger & sear that was not included.

This was a fabulous improvement to my 10/22 (and a friend's as well). Trigger pull measured on the Lyman digital gauge dropped from almost 6 lbs to just under 2 lbs. Really do need to re-learn how to shoot the gun! Installation was a little tricky, I was glad to have had previous experience installing other Volquartsen enhancements first (auto bolt release, extended mag release). The hardest part is getting the trigger plunger spring installed, then getting the sear/spring sandwich back in place. That part took quite a bit of time on the first go, less after I learned to move the "sandwich" just slightly out of position to clear the plunger. Tips -- since Volq provides no specific directions: 1. Pay VERY close attention to how everything aligns and should move together before you drift out the trigger pin 2. After you put the small spring on the trigger plunger, use a piece of ordinary tape to hold it compressed and in place while you work the trigger/sear assembly back into place. If your sear/spring "sandwich" comes apart, you'll probably need tweezers to get the spring back in place. Best of all is to not allow it to pop apart when you're moving the trigger. The hammer assembly itself was easy - just pull out the whole stack of washers etc, insert hammer & shims, and replace. 5 stars for results, dropped to 4 stars for lack of tips... Volq DOES offer instructions with some of their parts, BTW.

A really nicely made hammer which dropped the trigger pull significantly. The only reason I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 is because the hammer required a slight re-work. I had to grind a "hump" profile off the bottom of the hammer that was dragging on the sear, AFTER the sear had released the hammer. This "hump" would have required me to add .025" of trigger overtravel (after sear release) in order to eliminate the hammer dragging on the sear. I didn't want that much overtravel, so I modified the hammer instead. It was easy to do; I just used the factory hammer bushings as a profile template, and now everything works as it should.

I have to give this product a mixed recommendation. Yes, it does lighten the trigger pull, as advertised to approx 2.5#. Also, despite a complete lack of directions, it is easy to install so long as you are competent enough to dissassemble and reassemble the trigger unit (four pins). My biggest gripe with this hammer is that finish was extremely poor outside of the engagement area. Particularly, the radiused surface at the bottom of the hammer retained flashing from manufacture right up to the edge of the sear engagement notch. Without getting into specifics, if you are confident that you understand the operation of this component, you will have to perform some surfacing and polishing OUTSIDE the engagement area in order to get a consistent smooth pull.
