These work great in my Mossberg Pump. Shot patterns are not as pretty as a load of buckshot from a 12 gauge, but this can be expected, considering the pellets are stacked in line. Still, the patterns were acceptable and they recoil pretty heavy for a .410, which means they have plenty of punch. Five pellets of 000 buck are nothing to laugh at.

This load will keep 3 pellets on an 8.5" x 11" sheet of paper out to 25 yards when fired out of my single shot H&R, but it doesn't hold as tightly to the center of the page as does the 3 ball 2 1/2" buckshot load by Winchester. I give it 4 stars for its consistency and penetration but I'm not sure about its use on deer. Just like the shorter 2 1/2" load, I think it might be excellent for varmints and self-defense. An update to my prior post: At 50 feet this load will put 5 pellets within a 6 inch circle centered on the point of aim, and penetrated 5 - 6.5" of bundled wet newsprint. By way of comparison, Federal .357 magnum 125 hollowpoints penetrated 7.5" from a 4" revolver, and various .41 magnum hollowpoints averaged 9.5" penetration out of a 6 inch revolver. Overall, excellent patterns and penetration. The 12 gauge is the only other shotgun gauge to offer 000 Buck. I consider this is an unusually effective .410 load.

I have tested this ammo in my Stoeger Coach Gun, Saiga AK-47, and Bond Arms Derringer. They hold a goup of about 4 inches at 7 yards from the Coach Gun and Ak-47. In the Derringer, the group opens to about 6 inches at 15 feet which about as far as I would be depending on a Derringer. Should be a very good close range self defense round with low recoil. I would recommend stepping up to a 20 ga or 12ga for deer hunting for more pellets and more range.

Of about ten different 410 loads, this by far is the hardest kicking load. Groupings are better than the 2.5" version, and there seems to be a little more speed to them. Winchester's shells are top notch and I plan on saving and reloading these, but I don't feel confident yet in loading slugs or buckshot. I prefer the Winchesters slugs, and even Brenneke's slugs, but this is a solid performer and easily in the top three I've tried. My gun is a Springfield M6 Scout O/U.

These shoot real good from my 3" magnum Judge handgun. 5 to 6 inch groups at 10 yards, Recoil is way more than when shooting 45 long colts from the same gun.

I've used these in my Bond Arms Derringer for some time. They are great. I shoot at 15 yards at the range and put all 5 pellets on the target. These have penetrated 3/4 inch plywood with no problem and are excellent for self defense. They would be devastating at close range.

These are ok, but they are my 1st buckshot out my smooth bore .410. They almost made it to my expectations, high expectations for Winchester. I set up a range of 20yds,30,40, and 50yds. At 20 yards it just made a 1.5 in. hole. So at 40yds I got 1 out of 5 inside a 6in circle. I thought it would be some kind of accurate at 50yds it didn't even hit the paper. So in conclusion it would be so what reliable up to 40yds.The recoil is nothing if u r use to shooting a 12gauge. PS:These babies were going through penny diameter trees and going 3/8 through 4in diameter trees.
