We have used these radios for the last two hunting seasons, and they have worked flawlessly. We have not pushed the range envelope to see what they are capable of, but are getting an honest mile in heavily timbered and steep terrain. Battery life is good, as we leave them on for ten hours at a time for several days on one batch of AA batteries. The vibrating call alert is priceless so as not to spook any game for the person receiving a call. With the multiple channels and the privacy function, we never have to worry about sharing a frequency with anyone else. We are very happy with the palm sized little units and they have held up well for us.

I've used many different FRS/GMRS radios, and this product really stands out. Here's what makes it different: - Size. Probably the smallest GMRS radio ever produced. - Very good range thanks to the honest 1 watt RF output. This radio actually outperforms many 2-watt FRS/GMRS models (2 watts from 4 AAA batteries... yeah, right!) - Removable antenna. Get an external antenna for your car for greater range. - Exceptionally clear audio for both transmit and receive, especially considering the size of the unit. - very long battery life thanks to AA-sized batteries as opposed to AAA's normally found in FRS units - DCS codes in addition to the usual CTCSS tones (effective range is slightly shorter with DCS). - no gimmicks like stopwatch, digital compass, etc. Just a good, functional radio. This model has been discontinued, so grab it while the deal lasts! Note that this is a GMRS radio, and you DO need an FCC license to operate it legally. Of course, 99% of the people do not do it...

This product will operate with the rechargable batteries it comes with, but will also operate with three AA batteries. Carry an extra set of AA batteries and if you happen to lose charge on the others while in the woods you have a backup. The instructions are easy and straight forward. A set of these are a must for any hunter or anyone who will be in the woods.

Works well, and as advertised. Power management is excellent. Controls are adequate if a bit crowded, but that's the price you pay for compact size. There's a little setup involved to make it "hunt-ready", but the instructions are clear and correct. There are a lot of display icons, but most operation is extremely simple; still, all the bells and whistles are there if you want to mess with them.

The G-15 radios are very good, especially for the price. They are small light and work very well. Easy to tuck into a shirt pocket. They have held together well in a rough work setting. I can not believe the belt clips are still on. The charger units are fast and a charge will last me about a week of usage running a couple hours a day. The main use is keeping track of farm operations, and they come in very handy. The longest distance on the farm is about a mile and a half. Reception is clear and good at 2 to 3 miles as long as there is no obstructions. The only negative is with the privacy codes on, the range becomes limited to a little over a half mile. This does not present a problem for our use as they are used in a rural setting. We only use the privacy codes at trade shows and such... Over all a very handy and useful tool.

Good, functional radios. Work a honest mile through rolling timber. Codes seem to make for VERY CLEAR transmissions.

Very happy with the features of the radios, especially the small size. Good performance in the field and between cars.
