I have a couple of the older ones and just received another one today to use at a different location. There was an error in packaging and one piece of one the three piece collets had an extra from one of the other collets. Called Midway and they are sending out replacement for the collets. Excellent customer support. All of these Frankford Arsenal impact bullet pullers I have work perfectly, haven't worn one out or broke one yet. I use RCBS collet bullet pullers for jacketed bullets, but the impact pullers do the job better for lead bullets as the collet pullers slip on the lead.

Mine works great! It seems FA may have made some changes as the newer reviews are better. One thing I have done since I got mine was to pad the wood block with an old magazine to soften the blow. Have pulled .223, 6.8 SPC and .308 and never need more than 4 hits.

What everyone must realize is that these are probably made by the cheapest bidders and for what it is it works great if used properly. I admit I put the collet in upside down at first but soon after I figured it out. It works great and I use it instead of the RCBS press mounted collet puller that I have, I will probably sell it on eBay.

Excellent product. Worked the first time, and every time since. Compare the quality to other popular reloading brands. The shaft is made of metal, not plastic like some others. Three collets are included, verses others that include only one. All this at a lower price than anyone else! Highly recommended.

So far so good, have broken up about a dozen .223 bullets. It takes a couple good whacks to get them to break but at least you can look into the slightly transparent case and look for progress. Hasn't broken yet, I'd recommend for the casual reloader.

Sw-e-e-e-e-t. This puller is too good. Recently had to disassemble a bunch of .40 S&W LSWC's. They were fouling the bore on my grandson's Ruger P-944 so badly, I didn't think I could ever get it clean. I'll use Rainier Leadsafe's this time. They always seem to work well with minimal fouling. I whacked this thing on a piece of red oak backed up by the anvil portion of a large bench vise. No problem. Puller is as good as new. Excellent product at a great price. Comes with a set of three collets.

I have removed 38/357 (125g to 158g, jacketed) and 7mm Rem Mag, about a total of 50 this last testing session. I always hit it against a hard wood, and I've always found it worked very well. The first couple times I was unsure how hard to hit it and it took 20 tries to get my first 7mm out of the case, but now I've got it down to two or three hits and everything comes out - I see no signs of wear so far.

This is the lowest price thing I have ever bought that works perfect, just install the correct collet then a cartridge, 3 whacks on a hard surface and the bullet and powder fall out, then all you do is unscrew the collet cap, dump out the powder and bullet and start over, very easy.

This little tool has ended up saving me money over the past few years. Every once in a while when I am developing a new load for one of my rifles, I'll end up with a few loaded rounds that are too hott or something of that sort. At around .30 per round it paid for itself. I've read some people's complaint about the collet that comes with it being poorly made. My solution: use the shell holder out of your reloading press! Snap the case in, put them both in the handle, screw down the top and you are good to go. After each strike make sure the cap is tight and it will last you for years. Another tip is to use a nice chunk of wood to hit against. Don't drive it like a framing hammer. Just some nice solid hits and the bullets come loose. Great Product!!

I have, or had one that was about 15 years old and has pulled countless bullets with, probably in the thousands of mess-ups and mainly recycled rounds I acquire that were either old military or someone else's hand loads. Anyhow, it worked flawlessly for the past 15 tears then last night it snapped in two while pulling its last bullet! So here I am ordering a new one.

Works as advertised. Tighten the cap after each strike, rap with a stiff wrist (!) on the grain end of a dense hardwood block that's well anchored, and it works like a charm. I put some Duct Seal in the nose to avoid bullet damage, works well. No complaints, would buy again.

I purchased this from Midway as I had 700 rounds of .308 Match ammo that had bad primers. No problem for the Frankford arsenal puller! I just used a piece of end grain timber and I took on average 2-3 strikes per bullet. Some times the acme threads felt gritty, this was due to powder getting in the tread groves, just a quick clean with a rag and it was smooth as silk again. Remember to wear eye and ear protection, as pulling bullets is a very loud job, and the eye protection is incase the block or puller were to have a failure. I would recommend this to any of my reloading friends. Excellent value for money

Unbelievable how well and easily it worked. I highly recommend. I have never been disappointed with a Frankford Arsenal product.

Pulled about 50 rounds the first day, and it worked great. It is made of plastic, so I used a piece of wood on the grain end. I used a taping motion. It took 15-20 taps to separate a .308. The only problems I found were on a 300g 44mag, which is seated 10mm in the case, i.e. lots of tapping. If you think your going to separate a case in 2 blows, the tool isn’t going to last long and you will damage soft points.

I have to say that this thing has about the worst set of instructions I have ever seen. I almost threw the thing away before I figured out how it works. Instructions don't mention the basics, like putting the three pieces of the collets together and placing an O ring around them. Based on my experience with 45 auto ammunition: a. the specified collet #2, is wrong. It is a #3 (it came all three). b. you can't feed a bullet in nose first. The collet falls apart before you can get it to fit in. SWC bullets are especially challenging. c. You don't insert the bullet to the rim. You insert it to the extractor groove at the back of the case. I interpreted the rim as being the brass edge beside the bullet on the front edge of the case. Wrong. At least for 45 auto you need to take the collet out and insert the BACK of the bullet into the collet. It grips nicely around the extractor groove. Then insert the bullet/collet combo into the puller, tighten it up, and whack it. Once you figure that all out it works wonderfully! Just improve on the instructions and you have a great product.

Not a bad item for the money, works pretty well. Would like to see it clear rather than translucent blue to aid in seeing if the round is pulled or not. Would also like to see a beefier handle for my large hands. Padded rather than hard plastic would also make it more comfortable for long sessions. Although I did figure it out in short order, I think the instructions could be better.

I purchased this puller not too long ago, and have used it around 20 times now, I was confused about how it worked exactly and had to look up the instructions online, because I wasn't sure I was using it correctly. After the first 3 or so rounds, I gained some confidence in the puller and have really wacked at it to pull some tough rounds. I like this puller better than the new design, but I am worried about the stability of the product for long term use. The collets are easy to assemble when they come apart. 7 out of 10 total in the happiness department.

This is the first bullet puller I have purchased so unfortunately, I cannot compare its performance to others. What I can say is that it has thus far, worked great for the job. I have pulled a box and a half of heavily crimped 30-30 rounds that I didn't seat correctly. I have also pulled several heavily crimped cast bullets from some of my 45LC reloads without any problems. From the first use of the product I noticed that the plastic end will not hold up to lots of banging on hard surfaces. With that, I've decided to use a magazine (Guns and Ammo, Shooting Times thickness) or a similar thickness stack of newspaper for a bit of padding in which to bang the puller. Along with the padding, I also use a little patience. It may take a little longer, but many softer hits will remove a bullet just the same as fewer hard hits. I fully expect that heavy banging will break the puller. Using a bit of padding such as the newspaper stack and a bit of patience, I expect this puller to last a very long time. Thus far I have only used one collet but it hasn't failed me yet.

It works, and for an occasional pull, it's not bad. This is my second one: the first one lasted about 2 years, though it only pulled a couple hundred bullets. To pull a bullet, it tells you to strike a wood block and while this will work, it takes forever. If you strike a harder object, it will work faster, but you will break the plastic faster. Either way, it will break eventually. Still, not a bad product if you only need an occasional pull.

Quality of Parts: 4-stars Parts seem well designed. Fit and finish/workmanship: 2-stars. Aluminum collets had lots of casting flash that had to be ground down before it was usable. Plastic parts had plastic flash all over them which also needed to be ground/polished down before it was usable.

I used this puller on 38 rounds of 45 acp that I had seated and crimped with an inconsistent seating depth. The positives: It did the job, and I was able to work the bullets out far enough to take the crimp off the case. The Bad: The set of collets for 45 ACP is all but ruined. The flange that holds the O-ring onto the collets is completely off of one, and is fatiguing its way off the other two. Also, the collets chew up the hammer where they meet. Though it's done the job so far, I expected it to last a lot longer. Next time, I will buy a different brand.

Directions need to be more clear only because the method of operation seems so odd to first time users. It will smash the tips of my soft nosed Sierra rounds as the bullet comes out.

This product works pretty much like the similar product sold by RCBS. However, unlike the RCBS puller I have owned for over 20 years, the FA product is not as robust or of the same quality. My FA puller broke at the "hammer's" face. While it make have been due to striking a knot in the wood I was pounding against, the similar RCBS product has pulled hundreds and hundreds of bullets under like conditions and has developed craze lines, but has never broken. Still, this tool is a reasonable value among better choices.

This product will work... for a few times. The collet is made of soft aluminum. After about 25 bullet removals it is so distorted that it will not hold the case. Figure that if you use this thing it will cost you about 60 cents a round for as long as it works, which isn't long. After that... it's in the garbage can.

I bought one of the Kinetics bullet pullers from Midway several years ago when I got started reloading, and have used it with no problems for hundreds of pulls. About a year ago I opened a gun store, and bought several of these to sell in my store. I have had every one come back with a broken collet after minimal use. The aluminum they make the collets from is, in my opinion, either too thin or too soft. Even after assuming I may have received a bad batch and replacing the collets with the replacement collet kits, they simply broke again when used. I advised my customers who bought them to bring them back, and at no charge I replaced them with the RCBS line that I carry. My advice, either get the RCBS or the Quinetics line. There may be others that are great, but these are the only 2 I know for sure work 100% of the time. I like a lot of Frankfords products, but this is not one.

This is the only puller I have ever tried but I hope the rest of them work much better than this one. I was able to successfully salvage several .45 acp reloads that I screwed up on. But once the collet broke around the lip that the o-ring sits in, there was no more bullet pulling. Very disappointed in the quality of this product. Cost me far more than the recovered components that I was able to recover.

I had to take apart 50 - .38 special loads that may not have a powder charge. Less than half way through the lot the plastic head shattered into several pieces, one piece cut my cheek and hit my glasses. I recommend that you put the money that you would spend on this puller toward RCBS puller because the Frankford is NO BARGIN

I purchased this item because of the price. Very disappointed, even though it does pull bullets - after a few rounds the plastic shattered. I had to keep everything together with electrical tape just to finish what I was doing. And yes, I was hitting it on soft wood. They need to make this product more sturdy. Oh well, you get what you pay for....

The collets are poorly made and do not match. It just does not work.

I bought this one because it was on sale. I guess you get what you pay for. I shoot Hornady SST's and, after loading some that were too short, I had to pull them out. Nothing broke on the puller, but my ballistic tips were now blunt nose tips because there is no pad to cushion the bullet. I'll be returning it and getting the RCBS puller.

Cost me $15.00 to pull 7 bullets (308 with light crimp) before the collet broke. To me this means I need to spend 3.00 on new collets after 7 or so bullets, I'd rather throw them away.

Sorry, I cannot rate this tool as good, not even a little bit. The reason is that it will not open up a round of .357 Magnum 158gr LRNFP even with just a "regular" crimp (i. e. not the Lee Factory Crimp). This is not acceptable. Good basic idea. But it does not execute.

I read the instructions and followed them. The nylon collets stripped after 15 rounds and on the 20th round, the cylinder cracked completely off, flying across the room. I was not happy. I was pulling .280 REM reloads, and it also dented the soft lead noses. It broke within the first 3 times of using it. I've purchased another brand and had no problems. Maybe mine was not properly made or had defects, but I definitely had problems with this product and wouldn't recommend it. Obviously, other reviewers have had no problems, so don't base your judgment on purchasing a product on just one review.

During a reloading session my scale was bumped and I produced 30 rounds of 7mm Magnum bullets that were hot. I decided this bullet puller was the cheapest and simplest solution to save all the componets of the bullets. The first time I tried the puller I started with light hits and worked my way up. After about 15 hits the bullet and pouder fell out as advertised. I unscrewed the cap and found part of the collet that holds the o-ring on had broken off. My brass that I wanted to save had dented around the tapered neck and went in the trash. The lead tip of the bullet also dented. I tried it on about 5 rounds with the same results. The only component that was salvaged was the powder.
