My Pietta 1858 Remington has so far performed flawlessly. Fit and finish was a lot better than I expected for the money. Bluing is rich and deep and the wood on the grips is attractive. I also bought the R&D .45 Colt conversion cylinder and I shoot "Cowboy" loads with 250gr lead bullets. Accuracy is excellent and it is a lot of fun at the range.

I purchased a Pietta 1858 several years ago. I have been extremely please with the quality(fit and finish), accuracy and the handling in general. I use the Ox-Yoke brand wool plugs between the fffg(?) and the ball. Make sure you get the #10 caps and your in for serious fun. A little practice and your well armed.

This gun is my favorite. I did the R & D conversion to 45 LC. I use 250 grain lead round nose bullets with Unique. The bullet comes out of the 8" barrel at 810 feet per second. I save a lot of paper target with it. Most bullets use the same holes left from previous ones.

Fit and finish excellent. maintained tight shot group from 25 to 30 yards. The revolver fuctioned flawlessly during the first 100 rounds. Well balanced, and easy clean up afterwards. The big plus is the ease of removing and installing the cylinder.

Piettas are more accurate than Uberti and they are more durable! I own several from both makers and have never had any problems with my Piettas but my Ubertis have all had problems except for one.

This gun is 100% fun. Smoke, charcoal and sparks - especially if you use real black powder. If you use the synthetics it is much easier to clean! Okay, the first thing you need to know is that this (or any Cap & Ball) revolver will never put cartridge revolver companies out of business but you can have more fun with them. Buy a few size caps to check the fit on the nipples because caps that fall off mess up the action by falling in the hammer recess in the frame when you cock the hammer or are annoying "dud" cylinders. I like round ball the best. About as powerful as a 38 special. It is FUN and very well made for the $$!

I have the target model with the adjustable sights. I have found it to be highly accurate and even won 2nd place at the club shoot my first time out with it. I look forward to a second in .36

I have owned this weapon for about 7 months now. The fit and finish on mine is quite good with the small exception of the trigger arriving with a sharp burr on the bottom. The accuracy of the gun is amazing. Right out of the box it shot two inches low and one inch to the left at 20 yards. It appears to be durable, and it is reliable.

I have the 1858 in stainless, and it has perfect fit and finish. Very accurate w/cap and ball or 45colt w/drop in cylinder.

Having fired and owned BP rifles, this is my first revolver. Fit and finish was one thing that everybody seemed to rave about regarding the Uberti. Although I have no major complaints, there is a sharp edge on both sides of the milling in the frame behind the barrel. There is also a small gap on one side of the grip between the wood and frame. No big deal, but I've read lots of reviews about how the wood fits perfectly and there are no burrs, etc. Firing it is a literal blast. It's EXTREMELY accurate. At around 25 yards it shoots to sight, at 50 it's slightly down and left. It's incredibly consistent and gives great groups. Regarding the action, again, I've read reviews with terms like "flawless", but that's not exactly what I'd call it. Perhaps my expectations were too high since I'm new to BP revolvers, but pulling the trigger back too quickly overspins the cylinder past the index and I can easily drop the hammer at halfcock without much pressure on the trigger. Not what I'd call "flawless", but a fun and accurate shooter without much recoil. Overall, I'd recommend it. I'm planning on getting a Kirst cartridge converter in 45APC and will review that as well.

I have this pistol and would have won 5 stars if it weren't for one malfunction. The pistol unless cocked at a perfect rate and speed can over-spin or under-spin the cylinder causing it not to fire unless rotation is perfect. This might just be my pistol however, other then that great weapon, not the most accurate but you won't get that accurate unless you get really serious on loads and weights. I move a bit myself, still a great weapon.

I own two Pieta 1858 Remington’s, one with target sights and a 12" barrel, the other just as shown here (8" barrel, fixed sights). I also own 5 extra cylinders so I can load all at once and shoot a long time. When I got the second one I found it wouldn't take all the cylinders. I had to get a smaller diameter base pin, then it worked fine. The trigger pull on the second one was poor, scratchy and heavy. Some careful gunsmithing cleaned this up but if you're not prepared to do some work, look at the Uberti instead. Other than that it's a fine gun. I have put hundreds of rounds through both of them and they are still going strong and remain accurate. It is a lot of fun to shoot, that's for sure!
