The Hoppe's BoreSnake Bore Cleaner is a unique product cleans a bore in less than 10 seconds. With a single pull of the Hoppe's BoreSnake Bore Cleaner, you'll have a barrel that is shiny and clean. Its integrated bronze brush effectively loosens hard fouling and lead, then the woven cotton floss that follows picks it all up. Completely washable so you can reuse it over and over. The Hoppe's BoreSnake Bore Cleaner has 160 times more cleaning area than a standard patch, which makes for a cleaner bore in less time. The brass-weighted drop-through cord slips easily down the barrel. The Hoppe's BoreSnake has no exposed metal to damage the rifling or crown of your barrel. The Hoppe's BoreSnake Bore Cleaner is a great product to use at home, at the range or in hunting camp.

So far have used it on my tactical AR-15 and my bolt action 22LR. In a word it is awesome, I used a little Hoppes #9 where the wire brush part of the snake is and flossed like the instructions said to do. The I pulled through a few more times. After that put a little oil on to lube the bore. After about maybe 10-15 mins of work the bore has never been cleaner. I would recommend this product to anyone.

What can I say? Being issued M-4's (shorter version of the M-16) in Iraq, trying to keep weapons clean is a BIG problem. I was the only person in my platoon who had bore snakes for every NATO caliber, and spent the least amount of time cleaning barrels because of the Bore snakes. I had everyone from my fellow soldiers, to my Platoon Leader asking to borrow it because it worked so well. They've stood up to repeated uses, prolonged periods of time between washes, and less than optimal storage conditions, and performed flawlessly. If they can work in the harsh conditions of the Middle East, I'm very sure they will work in even the harshest conditions in the States. By the way, I still have all of my bore snakes; they survived the deployment. A testament as to how well they work and perform, even under adverse conditions.

Much easier to use than a rod w/brushes and pads, cleans better than a rod, significantly reduced time to clean 22 rifles.

I cringe at running a cleaning rod through my Marlin 39A. But I have no hesitation running this through it. A little Hoppes #9 on the brush end, a little oil near the middle and one pass through after each shooting session is all it takes. But, then, I don't believe in over cleaning a 22.

I love this product - best invention ever for the cleaning of gun barrels. Some have recommended using Hoppes on the brush and an oil a little further down. You can do that, or you can simply use CLP to make things even more simple. Some commented that it takes a lot of strength to pull through - I didn't notice that. There was a bit of resistance, but not an undue amount. One thing is for certain, it really does a good job of getting things clean, and I'll eventually have bore snakes for all of my guns. If you are on the fence about obtaining a bore snake, I highly recommend getting one to see for yourself. You won't regret it.

Best I have made for cleaning weapons. Better than using a cleaning rod. I have one for my .22, 9MM & 40 S&W and wouldn't use anything else ever again. Clean up is now a snap after a long day at the range. A little Hoppes #9, a few pulls with the BoreSnake and it's cleaner than ever. Even my wife cleans guns now!!

Hoppe's BoreSnake lives up to all the manufacturer's claims. The .22 version I bought quickly cleaned three rifle and a couple of handgun bores bright and shiny with one pull-through each. The 39-inch pull-cord end is ample to wrap around your hand and pull the device through the longest barrel. And you'll definitely need to wrap it around your hand. One thing the directions don't prepare you for is that it takes a LOT of strength to pull that cord through the bore -- so much in fact that I seriously doubt some ladies could manage it. On my first pull I expected the cord to break at any moment, which of course it didn't. A small amount of Hoppe's No. 9 or their new Elite Bore Gel applied to the bronze brush area makes pulling the cord slightly easier and would also be good for the bore. I thought it was going to be a problem getting it into and through the breech of my 10/22 but after I tied the bolt open with a piece of masonry twine the BoreSnake went through easily. I think the pulling gets easier after it's used several times. The device consists of four distinctly different areas: 1) The pull cord; 2) An initial "floss" area; 3) A bronze bore brush woven into the cord; 4) The main floss area, which removes the loose deposits. In use you simply drop the brass-weighted end of the pull cord through the barrel from the breech and pull the whole thing through. After a number of uses the cord can be washed with soap and water. The plastic packaging opens and closes easily and makes a good hangable storage container. In the field or at the range you can just stuff it into a shirt pocket. The BoreSnake may well be the greatest bore cleaning invention since the bronze brush.

I have found that cleaning my 10/22 is a facile process with this product. This is especially convenient because I can clean from the breech, as opposed to the muzzle.

It was long enough for my 24" AR-15 barrel. There's some effort required to pull the first section of the boresnake through the bore, but afterwards its cake walk. I would recommend only a light application of CLP to the brush area and just let the rest of the snake soak up the excess.

As indicated in the other posts, this product is quick, easy and simple. One thing that was not mentioned though was the idea of carrying one in the field in case you run your barrel into some snow or dirt. Great way to clean your barrel in such an event. By the way, it does get much easier to pull through once you have used it 6-8 times.

Many good 22 shooters will tell you. "He who uses a cleaning rod on their 22 rimfire ruins the barrel". I use this on my CZ 452 after every shoot. After over 40,000 rounds, it still shoots one hole groups. That would have been impossible without a product like this.

Traditional rods seem to scrape the sides of the bore and I feel I'm doing more damage than good. I put some CLP on the cord before the brushes and pull it through a couple of times. Done, with no damage to the bore, chamber or crown. I haven't used a rod in my .22 or .17 since I've owned these.

This thing is amazing. I wish I would have had one the past 50 years! I did not expect how thorough this thing cleaned out rifle and pistol barrels. It is truly amazing. A few pulls through the barrels and they are clean. Some BoreSnakes (especially small calibers) pull hard through the barrel, but just put some extra muscle on them and they will pull through. I even had some tough lead fouling in a .45 LC Barrel (that would not come out with a brush or a patch) and after working the BoreSnake through the barrel a few times and it was GONE. I have not even had to use any solvent. Thanks Hoppe's! I am a convert.

Incredible product. Works great and makes those small caliber rifles much easier to clean. The only thing I am worried a bout is the part where the brushes are attached to the strand. I am worried the bruses will eat through the strand and break it but so far so good.

I seldom give 5-stars to anything, but these things are awesome. Nothing I have ever used or tried does as good a job of cleaning a bore as these do. I own several in different calibers. They work. My only gripe about them is the price. It can get pretty expensive buying each caliber! Having said that though, I think of all the money I have wasted over the years on cleaning rods and other such nonsense, and then these look like a bargain. I doubt I'll ever go back to cleaning rods/brushes/patches/jags, etc. ever again!

This product does what it claims, making cleaning the bore into a one-step job. The bore is clean after one pass and the "snake" will clean several times before it needs cleaned.

Overall it works pretty well. I have a few for different calibers. I make sure I keep them in their packaging so that I don't get them mixed up. I wouldn't soley use this as the only cleaning method but for a quick or final run through cleaning it works.

I have Bore Snakes for .22 handgun, .22 rifle, 9mm handgun, .45 handgun, 30 caliber rifle, 12 gauge shotgun.... as you might guess, I like the bore snakes. I bought one, tried it out for a while, then progressively bought more as I tested each one. They are quick, easy, and seem to do a good job at cleaning the bore. I put some cleaner on ever few inches - leaving the last 4-5 inches dry. I pull it through the bored a number of times, the just to make sure, I use the cleaning rod with a copper solvent to get rid of any deposits left by the brushes. If you shoot a lot and don't want to spend hours cleaning your guns, you don't want to risk damaging the crown/muzzle of you gun, the the Bore Snake is a MUST-HAVE. It does take a little effort to pull the snake through the bore, but I think this has been dramatically over stated in the other reviews. Wrap the "draw string" around your hand and pull. It is not really comfortable, but I don't see it as a determining factor in deciding whether to buy a Bore Snake or not. Pro's: - quick - easy - thorough - saves you a lot of time Con's: - the Bore Snakes are typically dark colors so you can't tell if it is clean or dirty - if you use cleaning solution on it, it become VERY difficult to clean the Bore Snake - again, the dark colors make it difficult to tell if it is clean, but I can always smell residual cleaner in the Bore Snake. Buy it, buy it, buy it.

It cleans well, easy to use and packs up small. Don't wash it in your laundry machine, my wife smelled like Hoppes for a week (I rather liked it).

I have one of these for my .22 Buckmark, works great. Bought one for my target 10/22 to clean every 100 rounds at the range. The BoreSnake would not feed enough to drop the Brass plumb out the end of the muzzle. I didn't bring anything else to the range, spent 10 min feeding this through 1/4 inch at a time until I could just get ahold of the plumb and pull it out. I tried again after another 100 rounds, same thing, tried stretching the snake, twisting it, nothing worked. It was the BLACK part that is just supposed to drop out that was sticking, not the cleaning part.

Bought one for my Mini14. Shoot 40 to 60 rounds at the range every session. Clean after every session. Tried various combinations of solvents and placement on the snake. In every case, after several pulls through, the boresnake left deposits that required a dozen or more patches to clean. Waste of money, and did not reduce cleaning time.
