This book has extremely helpful information for beginners setting up their shop for reloading, first listing 16 must-have tools, then listing additional items that make reloading easier, more accurate and more enjoyable. Each step in the reloading process for pistol is covered in detail without getting long-winded. The sections covering case failure and excessive pressure symptoms proved invaluable for spotting defects when sorting and grading previously fired brass. There are sections covering casting bullets, big bore revolvers and even cowboy action shooting. Load data included for handgun cartridges is right out of their 48th ed. reloading manual. For fans of the Thompson Encore, there's a section addressing that firearm's special needs as well as a dedicated section of load data specific to it in the back of the book. This book would be a great value and twice what Midway is charging for it.

I was somewhat disappointed with the load data in this book. As a beginning reloader, I found the articles to be a great source of information. One of the themes that's stressed in the articles is safety. The author says to carefully follow each recipe. Imagine my surprise when I turn to the load data and there is no load listed for the 9mm using either a 115 or 124 grain FMJ bullet. The book has a wide variety of listings using cast bullets. For the author to omit perhaps the most common bullet weights and types for the 9mm makes this book less then desirable. If you're buying the book for the load data, I'd say look elsewhere!

I purchased this book for info on 10mm Auto recipes. I was disappointed in the conservative data. I use the 10mm for hunting. If I wanted conservative I would have bought a 40 S&W.
