Excellent powder measure! I use it with the case activated powder drop on my LnL progressive press. I load both .45 and .223 with it. It's consistent and easy to change drums between pistol and rifle as well as inserts. I'd recommend the micrometer inserts. It's +/- 0.05 grains with a Win 231 or Ramshot Tac.

This is a superior grade powder measure right out of the box. If you load a lot of pistol ammo, you might want to buy the micrometer metering insert for pistols. It really makes the smaller loads more consistent. Also the drain insert is handy for emptying powder. It's easy to change over, and the drain insert is really nice. In my opinion, Hornady should include one free with every measure. This is a great measure, would make a great addition to any reloading bench.

This is the best and most accurate powder measure I have used. I especially like the ease at which you can snap in and out the metering inserts when changing from one load/powder combination to another. I have a metering insert for each load that I keep with the dies for that cartridge, very handy. The drawbacks so far have been 1) you have to be careful when you take an insert out that you maintain control of the handle so you do not dump all of your powder out; and 2) you have to be sure the metering insert is oriented the right way or else it will not fully seat. It would be nice if the nut on the insert was clearly marked by the factory, I use a marker to indicate the proper direction. I would buy one again.

Powder measure maintained very consistant drops using all types of powder. It handled both light and heavy loads with the same consistancy. My unit is approximately ten years old and operates within the same parameters as when first purchased.

This is the most accurate powder measure I have ever used. It is very consistent with all types of powders. With most spherical and Hodgdon brand powders it will through powder charges within a 1/10 of a grain! It also seems to be very well made and I love the removable powder inserts.

Wonderful product! The action is nice and smooth with hardly any play. For my first few batches, I had to adjust the meter every 10 loads, as they were getting heavier. The secret is simply to put the lid on! Once I figured that out, it's been cranking out loads without issue!

I initially had some problems with this powder measure and was getting very frustrated and I could not wrap my brain about why it was so inconsistent throwing heavy charges than lighter charges with a high degree of variance. I finally figured it out. 1) Read the directions. I failed to do this and it would have saved me a lot of frustration. 2) By reading the directions I figured out that I needed to remove all the oils from the measure. I missed this step the first time and after I removed the oils the powder is not sticking to any of the internal parts like it was before, which was causing the large variance in powder throws. 3) Install a powder baffle. I purchased the baffle for a Lyman #55 measure. It worked wonders to increase the consistency. 4) Keep the top on the measure. For some reason this affects the consistency greatly. After I figured these little thing out I could not be happier with this measure. It is very easy to use. The quick change metering inserts and quick drain tube make it extremely easy to keep track of settings. Just purchase extra metering inserts for each load and you don’t have to mess with fine tuning the powder measure each time. After I figured out my errors and fixed them. I would recommend the measure to anyone and would purchase it again.

I recently purchased this measure. I am generally happy with it except that the charge weight decreased with the hopper level. I found that a baffle plate for another measure worked wonders. The charge weight is far more consistent now. In my opinion, the baffle should be standard. I have never used another measure that was as easy to empty using the optional empty charge tube. It works just fine!

Solid unit but it cuts the powder and usually throws within 1.5 grains. I use a trickler and a digital scale for rifle reloading.

This is a very well made powder measure. It has proven to be very consistent with powder charges of over 10gr. with all types of powder, especially after I added a Lyman baffle. But to get really consistent charges of under 10gr., especially with flake powders, I added the handgun rotor and metering assembly. The addition of the smaller metering assembly for handgun loads and a baffle makes this a great all-around powder measure.

Got one of these in combination with a Lock-n-Load AP press. While it is about as accurate as it gets for a powder measure of this type, consistently throwing powder charges plus or minus 0.1 grain, it does have one rather large drawback: the hopper is made of a plastic which self-destructs when in contact with at least one brand of gunpowder! I learned the hard way that extended contact with Bullseye causes the plastic powder hopper to warp, blister, and bend, making it ugly and possibly unsafe. BOO to Hornady on that count; the powder hopper on my RCBS Uniflow NEVER did that. It escapes explanation why Hornady would build a powder measure part from materials that self-destruct upon contact with...gunpowder. Be REALLY careful with this one. Since I had to replace the powder hopper, I don't let Bullseye sit in it for one minute longer than necessary. So far, I haven't had a repeat of the melting powder hopper phenomenon, so perhaps that's the key. FYI, you can use this measure perfectly well with an RCBS Rock chucker or other single-stage press.

I have several other brands of powder measures (green, blue and orange) and this Hornady measure cannot throw a consistent charge! I even bought a powder baffle from Hornady and it didn't help! I then took a Lyman no. 55 powder baffle out of my other powder measures and tried it but no luck. I have tried several different powders (ball, flake, etc..) and no luck. I can get it to throw within about 5 grains for some powders, but others it is across the board. I have never seen this before in a powder measure. I will be selling this soon.

Unfortunately, I have not found this measure to be particularly consistent. Mine performs reasonably well with ball powder, but with flake it can not be relied upon. I have tried both the factory insert and the micrometer pistol insert. I personally believe the measure could benefit from a factory baffle. I made one out of an aluminum can which improved consistency somewhat but still not to a satisfactory level. I also feel like the exposed steel on the rotating drum and the metering inserts are particularly susceptible to excessive rust. These pieces are covered in a light surface rust from nothing more than finger perspiration. I would normally blame myself for not adequately protecting the surfaces with a light coat of oil, but the directions explicitly say to remove all oils or greases to avoid contaminating the powder. On a positive note though, the metering inserts and the powder drain insert are very convenient and easy to use.
