Great product for the price. I used a Sinclair rest in the past and just purchased the Caldwell. The Caldwell has equal build quality with easier to use adjustments for half the price.

I’m a new benchrest shooter and was looking for a good solid rest that wouldn't break my wallet. The Caldwell Rock BR fit all my needs and 16 out of 20 of us are now using it. Great rest at a great price. Thanks!

Unlike a few others, I had absolutely NO problems assembling or with threads. Everything was machined top notch. The only downgrade I could see was in the bag and bag clamp design. It is WAY to wide for a thinner stock such as a remington 700 adl synth. I actually had to shim the bag space with plywood. That and it came with a couple of paint dings...but the rest goes together well and works great. CANNOT use (or needs) the extended center post caldwell sells. Threads are not the same as the "rock" and it will not fit.

I got the Caldwell "The Rock BR" competition rest. I have one word to describe it. OUTSTANDING!!! I like the way it's made. Adjustments are easy to make, and it was easy to put together. It is a outstanding rest. The sand bag that came with it fit my bench rifle perfectly along with my hunting rifles. I will be showing it to my friends and advising them to buy one. Thank you MidwayUSA!!!

The included bag is a bad joke; Midway should really sell it without a bag, but the rest itself is exceptionally well made for the price. Cast iron, stainless steel & aluminum construction with a ball-bearing supported main shaft. I ordered a Protektor bag along with it, and the combination works well. The assembly diagram is a bit small and hard to read, and the instructions themselves are incomplete, but with a little common sense, the rest went together well. All-together, this rest is an exceptional value.

I have been extremely impressed with the Rock BR. The adjustments are all extremely smooth. The cradle has a great range vertically and for windage. I have shot off of many other "high end" rests and this is by far my favorite. Great product!

This front rest is excellent! It is meant for bench rest shooting and the bag that comes with it is perfect for that use. For those that are complaining about the front bag, 1) it doesn't come filled, you have to fill it yourself, 2) it is meant for bench rest rifles in bench rest competition. If you just need a rest to sight in your deer rifle, get the Rock Jr. It's a lot cheaper and comes with the front bag a lot of the complainers seem to want.

This rest has an improved windage top. The windage adjustment used to just pivot. Now, it moves from side to side with plenty of windage adjustment and it can be swapped over for left hand shooting(THANK YOU). I shoot benchrest matches rimfire and centerfire and this rest is as good as my expensive rest. I had to tighten up a few things but other than that, I would buy this one over the other one at more than half the price.

I think this rest is the best dollar for dollar. It is rigid and heavy enough for precision long range shooting. The only negitive is the bag that comes with it is terrible, Spend the money for a better sand bag from Caldwell.

I was looking for a decent front rest for F-Class competition and after seeing a few of these on the firing line I decided to get one. I have used a Sinclair front rest in the past (buddies) it was very nice, not worth twice the price. The Calwell BR Front Rest is very well made, Machine work is very good, and I don't agree with the lower ratings either. Great product reasonably priced.

Well made. The rest bag is questionable and I may upgrade. A great value for this item. I am satisfied with the workmanship. I shoot a 1,000 yard light gun and I can't wait to try it out. It sure beats what I have been using.

I had no problem with assembly. All parts were included in the package and all fit and function is smooth and precise. There are no flaws in the finish. The included rest bag is not adequate for narrow forearms so I would recomend the better rest bag attachments that give a better forearm fit. The metal adjustment ears that contact the bag ears are not attached therefore they could accidently fall out and become lost during transport. There is a small hole in each metal ear so you could rig an attachment with strong cord or a not so thin wire to prevent loss. The rest is of sufficient weight to remain anchored to the bench. It does not move around during and between shots. This rest is a top value and has the features of rests costing hundreds more. If you want to see how consistant your rifle can shoot while working up loads or shooting varmint class competition this rest is ideal for the price.

Very nice rest, works well. That said, the front bag that comes with it is just worthless. I know what you're thinking... "How bad could it be?" I thought the same. However poor you can imagine that it might be, it's actually worse. Just two nylon rectangles sewn together in an H-pattern. Too small, thin, and not reinforced at the seams or mounting holes. Junk. They'd be better off not including it and just telling you up front. Save yourself some time and shipping cost reordering and get another bag at the same time. Other than that, it's a great rest for the money.

Well worth the bucks!! Best shooting rest I ever used. Easy to set up and stays where you put it. Nice to have all the hand adjustment within reach, without Allen wrenches or screwdrivers. You can dial it in and it's there shot after shot.

I hate people that use web postings to blame others, but here goes. Those people that are complaining about the "thin useless" tri-lobe bag are either not filling the bag with sand or not shooting a bench rest rifle with a standard 3" flat bottomed front stock. The rest is first class and if I would make any recommendation it would be to install a keyway on the fine adjustment screw to prevent the cradle from trying to rotate when you are making elevation adjustments. The lock screw alone has to much rotational play.

This is an great rest and is as good as many at twice the cost. The only drawback I can see is I frequently change out my medium and wide bags when I switch guns. They could have come up with an easier way to change sand bags without removing 4 bolts with an allen wrench. They could have made it where you slip the one side of the Bag Plate under something and the other side would snap into position or be held down by some kind of a latch. I have sent this comment to Battenfeld Tech.

The Caldwell Rock BR Competition Front Shooting Rest is an excellent piece of equipment that is topped with an embarrassing front bag, bag attachment, and free-floating tension plates. Anyone using a mechanical rest of this quality should have a decent bag, such as the Protector Owl Ear, or even a Caldwell Front Bag. A portion of a sock filled with cob media would be a better option than the bag included with this product. Except for the included bag, I highly recommend this for the shooting bench.

My first true rest. I usually use sandbags and 2 x 4 's it really does make a difference! Huge difference. Now instead of moa or more, it is sub at 100 yds. same gun same ammo. Once in place, using a different front bag, HOLY COW!! One ragged hole. (except when i pull one} The best birthday gift yet!!

Caldwell made an excellant bench rest. So easy to make adjustment while the rifle is on the rest. My old rest was a pain in the butt as I had to keep moving my rifle on and off of it to make the necessary adjustments. The windage adjustment is very handy to have so you don't have to keep moving the base left or right. I also bought the Caldwell narrow front rest bag as I shoot different military rifles and it supports the rifles better than the medium bag. All in all a great rest for the money.

Depending on how often you shoot from the bench depends on whether or not you should buy the Rock. If not so often look at Caldwell's "Rock Deluxe." If you buy the Rock, you must buy the proper rear bag and front shooting rest bag. The two lobe bags that come with it are a bad joke (not big enough, low quality and do not provide much support). When you buy the front rests that fit, make sure you buy the right size for the forend of your gun. The average hunting rifle like Rem. 700, Savage 110 need the "narrow sporter" to fit snuggly. The Rock is no doubt very solid and can handle any of the high calibers (300's etc.). The only legitimate dislike I would have is the windage adjustment. To be effective it should slide, not turn. Also, when you screw the base down, use lock tight or something to prevent it from vibrating loose. Overall a good buy, easy to use and makes life at the range much easier, especially when sighting in that new firearm!

Way too high for a true benchrest rig. If you shoot in the wind, pass on this one. Included bag is a joke. Overly complicated and the machining leaves a lot to be desired.

Wind age adjustment rotates rather than sliding resulting in not enough travel. Ball bearings rotate on bottom side of painted wheel, needs flat spacer as bearing surface.

Expected a better product. The forearm bag is inadequate for serious use and the cradle can not be lowered enough to accommodate most rifles when using standard size rear stock bags.

Just received one of these and on assembly found two problems. The screw hole that holds one of the bag straps was drilled and tapped "out of round" so the screw slips in the threads. Also one of the knobs was cross threaded into one of the bag ears. Have contacted the company on the instruction sheet, as they say not to contact where it was purchased.

I like this product especially at the price they sell it at but I had a bad experience with this one. I ordered the BR Rock rest (second day shipping) at the last minute to have another rest for a Prairie dog hunt my son decided to go on with me. I got out the new rest in the Prairie dog town and after setting it up realized the top was sloppy loose. I had the wrenches with me so disassembled it in the field and retightened the metric socket head cap screw (#33 pt # 1002587). After a few minutes of use it was sloppy loose again. Took it apart and this time backed the hand wheel (#8 Pt#1003296) up against the top so it could not work itself loose. It was a pain having no elevation but we got by that afternoon. The next day I bought some bearing mount loctite and used it on (#7 pt #1006395) the ram between it and the male dovetail block (#10 pt#1001181) and used thread lock on #33 the socket head cap screw. This seemed to take care if the issue of coming loose but I figured that I had just screwed myself gluing all this together and decided to purchase either the ram and male dove tail block or an entire new top like I saw on midways site. Come to find out that Battenfeld does not make these rest and there are no parts available to purchase. When I return home I called both Midway and Battenfeld. Midway was very helpful and offered to exchange it for a new one (I probably should have taken them up on it) but had enough time invested into something that there was no guarantee I would get another just like it. I am having a machinist make me the spare parts I need, he has it about completed and it looks much better than the original. Battenfeld was of lil or no help. Sorry for the long review but bottom line it appears that there are many good rock br rest sold but I would not buy this product again. Instead spend the x-$ and get a Sinclair, my old one has served me well for a lot of years! I like the rest but gave it a poor rating because of very poor quality control with no parts available to back it up makes this product worthless if you have any problems with it. It’s a shame that just a few small things can make such a big impact.
