I have a HK USP Compact .45 currently and had a SW99OL and this round performed flawlessly in both. The USP pistol is fairly picky and has no issues with this ammunition. Considering my HK is a short barrel, the performance is excellent. I have tried many types of ammunition but this is the best I have found so far. So good, I have my wife carrying them in her Glock 26. Needless to say, she loves them. Thank you Federal!

I've shot these from my Kimber 1911 45 ACP, they are a great carry load, they feed and eject with no problem, and perform as they should. I use them for home/personal defense, not a practice round. I used this round to control a possum problem I had at the house, they performed perfectly, one shot did the job, clean entry, and you can imagine the exit.

About the best defense ammo I have tested. These open up and some of the other hollow points I've tried mostly just fill up and don't open very good.

Best non +P ammo on the market. Excellent power and extreme reliability. My Colt Commander and Springfield 1911A1 Custom loves it. Never had a failure to feed and I have put hundreds of rounds through both of them. This is my carry round period. Nothing better on the market at the moment.

Feeds very reliably in my customized Combat Commanders. Very accurate and no failures. I really like the low muzzle flash in low-light conditions. My carry round.

This round was the only 230gr round that mushroomed reliably in tests I did into wet newspaper stacks that were fired from a 3.5in (Officers Model) barrel. Accuracy was also superb through a 3.5 and a 5 inch barrel.

This stuff packs a mean punch! Great full power defense round. At combat distance, 10 ft or so, my little Colt Defender throws all seven rounds into a 2" circle.

Function is 100%. Accuracy is 3" @ 25 yards from my totally stock norchinko which is as well as it does with anything else. Energy is outstanding for a non +P. One of the best non +P loads on the market. If you want a +P go to black hills 230 JHP.

Federal really did their homework with this outstanding round. Defensive shooting from 7 to 25 yards gives accurate one shot drops reliably. No malfunctions, misfires or any other problems. Every shot is a consistently charged round, no "hot" shots or squibs. In low light conditions you don't suffer from flash burns for follow up shots, whatever powder they're using delivers consistent velocity and low flash.

This was the first brand of defense ammo I purchased years ago and it's what I still carry in my Springfield 1911 Mil-Spec and Service model Springfield XD .45 ACP. I have some +P ammo and other defensive ammo, but the Hydrashock is my favorite. It has been around a long time and with a proven track record. Other manufacturers compare their rounds to the Federal Hydrashock as it is the standard in personal defense.

My own terminal performance testing in wet newsprint and on feral hogs, and muzzle ballistics testing over a chronograph, mirror the all the test results on record - reliable consistent expansion and very consistent velocity. Also low muzzle flash and very clean burning. It feeds 100% in all 3 of my 1911s. Accuracy from my (accurized) carry gun is an honest 2" at 50 yds and also excellent from the 2 stock guns. My carry load for years and one of the best, perhaps the best, all around .45 ACP defense load on the market.

I have put 5 boxes through my Springfield XD without a single malfunction. Shooting textbooks, they way out-performed the Winchester defense rounds for depositing energy and penetration (~3" in hardcover textbook). I have carried this round everyday for four years now and would never select a different one.

I have carried this ammo since they came out in the 1980's. I have seen them recovered from ballistic gelatin, wild boar, deer. The wound channel is enormous for a slow 230 grain round. I lend that to their accurate & controlled expansion and the kinetic energy transferred from the internal tip. I shot hundreds of these rounds through my Sig P220 at Gunsight in the 80's. As a test I did not clean my gun the entire week and did not experience a single misfeed, misfire, stove-pipe, or malfunction. I could not say that for the plastic Glocks, Berettas, or Smith's that were in attendance. An excellent round that you can bet your life on... it has saved mine countless times!

This is my carry round. I've shot over a dozen different rounds from my Kimber Stainless Target II and this seems to be the best combination of performance and accuracy. Too bad it's not sold in bulk, I'd buy!

I read an article many years ago where the LAPD studied nationwide police shootings. This round came out as the best one shot stopper in their study. Since then I've carried them on duty many years. I've shot hundreds of them over the years without any malfunctions or complaints. They function perfectly in my Glock Model 21. Since the Glock has an inertia firing system that sometimes fails to pop a Winchester primer on handloads, I feel better about carrying the Federal Primer, which ignites more easily.

Great defense round. I shoot 4 2inch groups out of 1911 at 10 yards. Shoots great. Fires every time I have to rotate my ammo out when I can find it. I would recommend this ammo for any 45 as a carry round.

Between the many years of personal use with not a single failure through well over 1000 rds and the numerous studies and reviews that have been done on this round I have no doubts whatsoever that this is one of, if not the best handgun defense round ever produced in any caliber. Hydra-shocks are one of the few things I just don't have to worry about letting me down. Period.
