Excellent quality, drop in fit for Springfield....MANY milspec and GI Springfields (yes even in .45) use the .38 super sized firing pin as it is lighter and along with their use of titanium pins allows them to pass the drop tests to sell in California without adding a nasty firing pin safety (which I hate so I guess that is not the worst trade-off). So if you ordered a firing pin for your .45 and it was too big to fit out the hole in the breech-face now you know why and which one to order. I like the contour of this .38 super pin better than Wilson’s...they are both very well made but this one is my favorite. See my comments on the Ed Brown extra power 1911 firing pin spring, which you'll want to order with this pin for your Springfield milspec or GI that uses these pins. I've been very pleased with Ed Brown's parts quality and designs. Perfect machine work and finishing, top notch quality materials. These days I'd say better than Wilson (and I'm a Wilson dealer and get that stuff at cost...I paid for this stuff anyway by choice) in a standard .45 firing pin. Either Ed's or Wilson’s bullet-proof are fine choices. In .38 super/9mm Ed's follows the original contours and shape better. They probably both work great knowing Wilson’s parts as I do but I ordered the one that looked better. They work great in my gun on such a cheap part you may as well buy one of the best couple brands...silly not to!
