After trimming cases the burrs that are created must be removed prior to loading. The Lee Chamfer Tool is the perfect tool for the job. Made of hardened steel the unigue design cuts fast without chatter. One turn does the job. Chamfers and deburs inside and outside necks of cases. Can also be used to remove the crimp from primer pockets of military crimped brass.

I may be last one to find this out but this little tool works great in removing a military crimp from 223 brass. I simply put the empty case into my electric drill (mouth first). Tighten till snug, then as the case spins simply insert the tool into the empty primer pocket to remove the crimp.Tool will remove the crimps as fast as you can reload your drill.Amazing. Now I can salvage those military cases I had stashed under the bench.

Follow Up Review - After a few thousand rounds of .223, the Lee Chamfer Tool is starting to dull a bit. It still works, but now needs 2-3 pulls of the Zip Trim instead of one, which only adds about a second per case. I'm buying a couple of more Lee Chamfer Tools. They're still cheaper than making a carbide chamfer tool that would last a bit longer. I plan to rotate the chamfer tools from .223 to .308 to.... That way, I expect to get 2,000 case chamferings (inside and outside) on each case neck diameter, which is still an inexpensive tool. I'm goofy enough to try to sharpen the chamfer tool, but at this price, why?

First of all I am not a high volume reloader (maybe 150 rounds a month sometimes more or less) but I still look for quality in my work. And in this context I have to say that most of my reloading “bench-ware” is from Lee and serves wonderfully for me and that for many years. I love their products--you get good quality for a small prize as many have stated before. And their chamfering tool is no exception. However I wish it would be a little bit bigger so I can use it for the .500 S&W Mag. cases, too. For all my other cases .44 Spec. up to .45 LC and .45-70 Gov. it just works great. I ordered a few more of these (they were on sale at MidwayUSA) in case it dulls or gets lost.

Works great, especially with the zip trim. One pull for the outside, 1/8 pull for the inside chamfer and its done. Doesn't require a lot of pressure on the tool to get it to cut. Be careful when chamfering the inside of the mouth, its easy to over chamfer if you are not paying attention.

Look at the price, folks. Look at the price! It can't be beat for the price. Combine it with the Lee Zip Trim and you're in hog-heaven. I keep around half-a-dozen of these and the pocket primer cleaners around. When they go dull, big deal--throw 'em away. You're simply not going to find a better VALUE anywhere.

I believe that this is the best tool for chamfering and deburring. I own another major brand tool and the Lee tool chamfers, smooths, and deburrs faster, smoother and at a much lower price.

This product worked great for doing small amount of brass. Fingers get sore after a few brass is done. They could make it a bit longer and that would help wonders! But for the money the Lee is WELL worth the money! I would get one again anytime!

Cheap and it works. It came with my kit, looks like it will do 30-30, 44 mag, 500 mag, and it may be a stretch but 50 BMG. I put the shells to it and it is close.

Absolutely fantastic. Works better than my grandfather's RCBS drill trimmer. The edge of the casing to the bullet is so smooth you will never have any burr problems. I’m using it on .45 ACP brass and it works great!

I have had no problems with this chamfer tool except one. The problem is with 9mm brass. Due to the short size of the case you can only chamfer the inside, when doing the outside you must remove the case from the case holder and hold it by hand. I find this irritating. With longer cartridges there is no problem. There is also the possibility of rust forming as the finish is fairly weak.

This tool I felt was great for my pistol cases, but when I tried the .270 short magnum cases the shoulder of the case was to broad for the tool to reach far enough to chamfer the outside. It will not work for the short mag.

I am just getting started, and on a budget. This is a great tool for the money, as is a lot of LEE products. Anything with a bigger case than a 7mm Rem-Mag may not fit for outside deburring. Works great for inside chamfering and for touching up the primer pocket edge. Could be a little longer for ergonomics, but I like it.

They do tend to wear out after hard use (I am a small commercial reloader), but you can have a pocketful of these for what the others charge for one. Also, when removing primer pocket crimps with the tool in the lathe, the Lee is not nearly as prone to overcut and turn your primer pocket into a funnel.

The tool cuts smoothly and does the job well. What I do not like is its size. When deburring 45 acp, the case mouth goes so far inside there's not much case left to hold on to. That situation would be worse with some smaller caliber handgun cases, however with rifle cases or long pistol cases, ie. 45 LC, this would not be an issue with me. Worth the money though.

Works ok I guess, not as good as others I have seen. it doesn’t really cut that fast and when you are deburring the outside of a large case like a 30-06 it leaves a mark on the side of the case but it is only cosmetic.

This is another great product from Lee. I only gave it four stars because like many others I couldn't use it on my 300 WSM. Worked great for my 7mm Rem Mag so I was very disappointed when my 300 WSM brass wouldn't fit. I modified it so my 300 WSM would fit by putting the the chamfer tool in my lathe and cutting away some of the inner wall of the tool now I would give it five stars. You could do the same thing for short pistol brass just shorten the depth of the tool. As for it being small to hold on to I plan on making a wood donut to press it into. Lee makes the best reloading equipment in my opinion but they could improve on their chamfer tool.

Works very well, especially for the price. Harder to debur on larger calibers and short cases. Give yourself a break if doing more than 50 cases at a time, otherwise it's great.

Good for most cases, but BEWARE, will not chamfer/deburr outside of Short and Super Short Magnum cases. The shoulder is too wide for the tool to slide sufficiently down the neck. The tool rests on the shoulder instead of contacting the case mouth. Good for other applications though.

Well, it does chamfer. After a fashion. As another reviewer mentioned it does have a tendency to push metal as much as it cuts. Difficult to get a consistently centered internal chamfer leading to runout issues. Outside chamfer is particularly difficult to keep concentric and not too deep. If you want to break the edge it's fine, anything beyond that it's not the right tool for the job. Mine went in the trash replaced with a Forster for outside chamfering and a Sinclair carbide VLD cutter and handle for inside chamfering.

As others have stated, it can't be beat for the price. All I have to add is that it will not chamfer the outside on 458 Socom cases. The tool hits the shoulder of the case before the mouth of the case reaches the cutter.

This tool is ok for deburring the inside of cases, but it is so short it becomes painful to hold onto after a few hundred rounds. Also, it will not deburr short pistol calibers on the outside of the case, because it is deeper than the length of the cases.

Barely useful at all on my 250 savage and 300 savage cases. You can remove burrs, but it takes more work than it should, and it's easy to scratch a ring around your cases if you're not watching what you're doing. Any other (Lyman, RCBS) will work much better for you.

very dull, takes a while to actually chamfer the outside of the cases after they have been trimmed. takes about 6 pulls of the zip trim to remove all the burrs from the case and then another 3-4 to chamfer the inside of the neck. very poor quality and wish I had spent the extra money on a real tool.

Waste of money. After a week of using, couldn't debur the outside of case necks anymore because it had gotten so dull already. Chamfering the inside of the case lip isn't much better. This thing went dull in the first couple hundred rounds! Go with the Frankford Arsenal, it's stayed sharp after hundreds of rounds in the same time period!
