I have had this scope mounted on a Springfield M1-A Scout rifle for a few years now. It has taken rough handling, serious weather extremes, and thousands of rounds, all with no problems. It is easy to use, and very fast. It has served extremely well in actual field conditions, under quick-shoot situations. An excellent scope choice for the serious professional operator.

Like the above, I have this mounted on my M1A SOCOM and love it. I am using Leupy's low mount rings and the combination allows me to co-witness with a solid cheek weld. No cheek piece needed. Very good eye relief. Perfect setup for my slightly aging eyes.

This is a super scope. Crystal clear optics, bright, good field of view, and the crosshair really stands out even in low light conditions. The eye relief and side to side viewing(eye box to some) range is not critical either. Much better than several other scopes I looked at. This scope replaces an older Leupold IER scope on my Marlin guide gun. Like one other reviewer, I load heavy 350 and 400 grain loads. No problems with the old scope or this one. I no longer worry about scope cuts and after using a scout scope setup I can acquire and track running game even quicker/better than before. Another benefit is I have found an POI/Accuracy improvement with the scout setup. I do not know if the base being mounted to both the barrel and receiver results in greater stabilization of the barrel, or if being attached to the barrel the base and therefore the scope moves along with the barrel as it heats up and cools down is the reason for my POI and accuracy improvement. I suspect a little of both. I have found that my point of impact remains essentially the same whether the barrel is very hot or extremely cold. This was not the case before. Also, my overall 5 shot groups improved from an average 1.5 MOA to around 1.0 MOA after installation of the scout scope system. I noticed one other reviewer's problem with the reticle breaking. In the information included with my scope it tells you where not to mount the scope rings due to the possibility of reticle breakage. In summary I could not be happier with my scope or the scout scope system. Those who have not tried it do not know what they are missing.

I bought this scope for a Springfield Armory M1A Socom 16 and I used Warne rings (midway # 216902) and the combo is great! Scope is clear and eye relife is perfect for the forward mount of the Socom rifle.

Have these on two Marlin lever guns with XS scout mounts. They don't bat an eye at heavy recoil, and have all the legendary Leupold crispness and light gathering qualities you could ask for. Can't go wrong with these.

The Leupold FX-2 "Scout Scope" is everything I hoped it would be. The optical clarity is excellent. The eye relief is as promised. The click adjustments are precise. The finish is excellent. I've been using mine on a 45/70 Marlin Guide Gun as I develop some serious loads with 350 and 400 gr bullets and the Leupold shows no sign of trauma. In years past I've used Burris scout scopes and the original Leupold IER; the FX-2 is the best scout scope yet.

A cheap scout scope cost me a buck one cloudy morning when the buck stepped into a thicket, and I couldn't see him clearly enough for a shot. Obviously, I needed a scope with better light gathering abilities. I thought long and hard about this Leupold scope--it cost 4 times as much as the rifle, a surplus Mosin-Nagant. But I bought this scope, and I am VERY glad I did. Holding it beside the other scope and looking through one and then the other one, this Leupold is MUCH brighter, especially in late afternoon. The optics on the other one seems like on a child's toy compared to this Leupold. Note: it comes without lens covers. You can buy the Leupold screw in covers, but the inexpensive Butler Creek "Bikini" cover fits it like a charm. It's Midway's # 290696.

I had been intrigued by a scout style setup for sometime.. have tried a red dot in the position before but never a scout scope.. was a bit skeptical having used various pistol scopes (I know.. different eye relief, but still, similiar) I am REALY impressed and really, really like it. Have it mounted on my 45/50 guide gun. I am very impressed with how easy it is to get a sight picture, the field of view, quality, etc.. (Have several highend Nikons, Leupolds and Zeiss and have tried just about every other brand out there short of really expensive Euro glass). I think it's the ultimate setup for a lever action. I will be taking the almost new VX111 1.5-5 off my Marlin 35 Rem and putting one of these on it. My son's 30/30 may get the same treatment and sell off the VX1 1-4 shotgun scope. I would say it's ideal for a young hunter too.. no magnifaction to contend with and zero risk of getting popped by the scope

Bought two of these. Mounted them on a guide gun in 45/70 and a M1A socom. Clarity and durability are top notch. Even after a forty round session with the 45/70.

Very nice, clear scope. It broke a reticle but was fixed by Leupold with no problems. They even replaced it with a reticle of my choice which was very nice of them. I had them put on the German post type with heavy crosshairs. The only thing I dislike about this scope (and why it didn't get a 5 star), there is no adjustable eye piece. You just can't adjust it for individual eyes so make sure your vision is great or wear your glasses. I have this mounted on a Marlin 45/70 Guide Gun shooting some pretty hot 350gr loads. The scope stays spot on. I'm going to give it a try on my M1A Scout Squad.

I agree with all good reviews. Great scope. I have both this Leupold Scout scope (2.5x28) and the Burris Scout scope (2.75x20). The Leupold is on a SOCOM 16, the Burris on a Browning BLR LW 7mm-08. The Burris is almost an inch shorter in length, making it a bit more ergonomic for me. Both are mounted with Warne quick-release rings. Both have lifetime warranties. Both have great clarity. Both have precise, repeatable adjustment (clicks). The clinchers for me? I will opt for the Burris next buy because of 1.Overall length, 2. Greater magnification, 3. Price (Burris currently $62 cheaper), and most importantly, 4. Burris can be adjusted for my eyes/glasses, unlike the Leupold. Still, a tough choice. I guess that's why, in my indecision, I have both.

What a great scope. I have mine mounted on a Mauser Kar 98. Form the first shot to the twentieth POI remains the same. Crystal clear optics and a nice sharp crosshair that is easy on the eye for those times you are staring down the scope for long periods of time. The elevation and windage adjustments are accurate and repeatable. You can go 20 clicks up or down all day long then go back to your zero and your shot is right on target. I think this is a great LER Scope.
