I installed this safety today. It dropped right into my 870 and works perfect. The oversized head makes it easy to take the safety off as you move the gun on target, I can disengage it with the middle phalanx. This makes for faster shooting than with standard size safety. Recommended to all who want a left handed safety on the gun.

I bought two of these safeties, one for an 870 express that is at least 23 yrs old (2&3/4 shells only) and the other for an 870 Marine Magnum. Both of these safeties work great. I'm very happy with this product. My only complaint is that it doesn't have installation instructions. But I was able to install it anyways.

Machined well and works as advertised. You have to use the first review as instructions, but drops right in a operates great. For someone that has been shooting and hunting with an 870 for 20 years, finally having a lefty safety feels great. I bought a second one to install in a friends 1100.

Highly recommended for southpaws. Works exactly like the factory safety, except backwards. Oversized head is a nice touch. I gave it 4 instead of 5 stars only because it came with no instructions. Use the instructions in William Clayton's review to install it.

Works as advertised. Installed on a 70's Remington right handed 1100. The reason for 4 stars is because it required some modification to engage properly. Specifically when going from "hot" back to "safe", it would hang up on the back of the trigger. I believe it's because the edges on the trigger slot were rough machined and had a burred edge. A slight chamfering of the edges with a Dremel and some light grit sand paper helped and now the safety works consistently. The over sized safety button is also very nice.

Drop in installation in an 870 in 5 minutes with very little effort and minimal tools. Make sure your weapon is unloaded of course. Remove the two pins holding in the trigger group, remove trigger group, remove the retaining pin for the safety spring and ball. It is not necessary to remove the spring or ball from the housing. Push the old right hand safety out, put this one in, making sure the trigger cut out lines up with the trigger. Reinstall everything in reverse order. Test for proper operation before you reinstall! Has the added benefit of oversize safety button on the left side. I picked up 3 for all my 870's.

Product installed easily but, safety disengaged a little harder(and with a loud snap)then when safety was engaged. A little emery cloth on detent area and it worked fine. I would recommend this product to southpaws.

I put one of these in my New England Firearms Pardner Pump (870 clone). I had to remove some material to move the slot further up in order for it work properly (if you do this, make sure you DO NOT widen the slot any or it will be unsafe), but this may be because of slight differences in the Pardner Pump vs. the 870. So, it will work in a NEF Pardner Pump with slight modification. It's really nice finally having a left-handed safety!

The safety works as advertised. No instructions, so follow the instructions provided by William Clayton, below. It really is that easy. Also, the "J" lock isn't on this safety, if you used it instead of a trigger lock. Otherwise, a real Godsend for lefties.

This item is unsafe. I installed it on my 870 and when it was on 'safe' it still allowed my gun to fire. I have a Wingmaster. The design is poor. If you look at the back of the trigger there are two hinges. The factory safety plug comes with a design that allows both of the hinges to be engaged on the safety pin. The design of this safety has only one side of the trigger engaged. When I researched others who make replacement safety pins, they have the same design as the factory model. I hope whoever has purchased this will double check and recheck to make sure their pins work in all situations. I am an extremely safety conscious person when it comes to my firearms and this product on my 870 is dangerous. Maybe the design works better on other models, but not the ones with the trigger design of my shotgun.
