Works great in 38 special. Burns clean. The burn rate seems to work well for +P loads in 2" barrels. Also works well in my 32 H & R Magnum Ruger Single Six. I use this powder with success when I need something just a bit faster than H110. Follow your loading manual carefully with this one, like all faster burning powders. Watch out for double charges. I start with lower charges and work up VERY slowly. HS6 won't disappoint.

Excellent metering. Consistent loads in 38 & 357 using a S&W 686 revolver. Provided a smaller muzzle flash than Alliant's Blue Dot for my loads pushing 158 grain Rainier Plated Hollow Points.

A great powder for any semi-auto loading. Same as Win540. Sometimes used to make major power in 9mm. Works well in 9mm to 10mm or .45 with heavier bullets. Also good in .38 up to 44 Mag. Does not match H110 for velocity in mag revolver loads, but does well and is a great for medium loads. Perfect for .40 S&W, but Longshot can give higher velocity in hot semi-auto loads. Works well for med to heavy loads in most all handgun calibers and can't be beat for reducing the no. of powders on your bench. Seems cleaner than most ball powders too.

Sounds like one of the reviewers got a bad lot of this stuff, I never have unburnt powder eject onto my arms or forehead with this powder. I use Federal SP primers and get excellent ignition every time. I will say however that this powder in .357 SIG, using 124 gr. Hornady XTP-hp are a great combo. The load data for this powder and those bullets is in wide circulation. I can tear out any target center from 15-20 feet using that combo in my .357 SIG.

As handgun powders go, this one burns pretty slow and is relatively hard to ignite. I've never gotten good results with it without using magnum primers. With standard primers, I commonly found unburned powder ejected from my 1911 onto my forehead and arms. This incomplete burn of the powder also produced very bad accuracy. However, WITH magnum primers it makes *very* accurate, hard hitting 9mm cartridges for my Hi Point carbine. Haven't tried magnum primers with it in my 1911, but plan to later.
