Fit my 1895G perfectly! I didn't even need to drill new holes in the stock. Though if it were necessary, Pachmayr DOES state in the instructions that you may need to fill the old holes with wood filler first! Wasn't the case with me, luckily. Off with the old and on with the Pachmayr in under 5 minutes, and it works nicely. Less bruising after putting a box of maxed out handloads through it. Oh, yeah, they also say in the instructions that since gunstocks vary, there may be a slight variation in how it fits your gun. I imagine this would especially be the case if you have a synthetic stock. Regardless of what may have been said in other ratings, I highly recommend it. If it still scares you, buy a Hi-Grade pad and pay extra for a gunsmith to size it for you!

Fit was a bit oversize for my .45-70 1895GS. I installed it then traced around the excess with a white marker. I then removed it and sanded off the excess using a small hand sanding block with 120 grit sand paper. Fit now looks professional and the pad absorbs much more recoil than the original "brick" stock pad.

I tried this pad on three different Marlins. It fit very well on one, not so well on the others. The worst fit was well over the .050" tolerance stated. Seems like there is quite a bit of difference in the dimensions of the stocks. Not really the fault of the recoil pad. You will be rolling the dice. Might fit well, might not.

The fit was not perfect but was willing to live with it. I believe it is luck of the draw as to if you get one that fits or not. The recoil reduction is much better and that is the main concern.

Fits is very poor, not even close on two 1895g and did not fit either one.

Prefit pad was too small for the stock by 1/8" top to bottom and 1/16" side to side.

On the plus side, this is a very well made pad, and the screw holes line up precisely with the factory holes. On the minus side, and this is a very big minus, the pad sent to me was 1/8" undersized all the way around when fitted to my 1895G. I could have adjusted an oversized pad, but I can't add rubber to an undersized one.

Ordered one of these for my 1895GS Marlin and it was undersize. Gunsmith says he hasn't seen one fit right yet.

As per other reviews, I was dissatisfied with the fit of this pad. It was too small and the pre-drilled holes did not line up with existing recoil pad holes. Although Pachmayer includes a drill bit & screws to install adjacent to existing holes, the Pachmayer holes slightly overlapped the factory holes, making installation impossible even if the pad had been the correct size.

Save your shipping money for you will surely be sending it back. Mine came in undersize. Maybe Pachmayer needs to actually see a Marlin before making a pad for it.

How are you supposed to use it, if it doesn't fit the rifle it was made for?

The quality of the product is excellent, but it will not fit. There is about 1/8" gap on all sides. I read the other reviews before ordering, but I thought I would be one of the lucky ones with a proper fit. I was wrong. I don't know if the pad is undersized or the stock oversize, but it comes down to the same thing in the end. Save yourself the trouble and buy a non-prefit pad and fit it to your stock.

Bought one of these to tame the kick on my tuned 1895GS with handloads, and while it didn't really help at all compared to the original pad, I can say that it was considerably undersized all the way around. The holes lined up and it screwed right on, but that hardly mattered with as much extra space as it had. I'd rather have one that's a little large, as you can trim it down, and the corner of the stock won't bite if it rubs your shoulder. I will be reinstalling the original pad.

Worst gun related product I have ever purchased. It was far too narrow to fit on either my 1895 or 1894. If that wasn't bad enough, Pachmayr was rude and unresponsive when I contacted them about it. I will never buy another Pachmayr product and if you choose to waste your money on them I wish you the best of luck because apparently your odds of getting the product advertised are slim to none.

The gentleman from Oregon is right on; Pachmayr needs to get their hands on a Marlin 1895G and THEN make a prefit recoil pad. Absolutely worthless; I put the stock pad back on and added a LimbSaver slip-on pad. Save your money.
