Works great first one I ever owned. I mounted it on my SKS-D with a Tapco stock and within 30rds was dead nuts. Dot has to be set on 11 in highlight areas but was a perfect dot.

If you plan to buy a Red Dot sight you will need to have 20/20 vision with or without glasses in the eye you aim with or the dot will look like a cluster of grapes, as I have heard it called, mine did without my glasses. With my glasses on the sight has a nice round dot outside, inside you get glare and the dot is not so round. I mounted it on a forward Quad Rail mount on my AK47. It looks very nice and it is a very good sight. Like I said, the dot is round. The sight is light weight and compact, holds zero well, lenses have a slight tint to them, which helps in bright sunlight, Works in bright sunlight on setting 7, 8 or more. Looks very nice with Butler Creek flip open caps. The tube diameter is 38.9mm, eye and objective, so that will tell you what size caps to order. The mount is cheap and hard to deal with because the front screw slides back and forward to give some lead way in mounting. Once you do get it mounted it works well, if not use a light hold lock tight. After reading all the reviews I decided to try one and I agree with all of the good reviews it received. Buy one, people may roll their eyes who have never had one but you will like it and the best part you save a-whole-lot of money.

I bought two of these, one has a sharp round dot, and the other kind of fuzzy and oval. I kept the good one for use on a buckmark, works great. These are made in China so QC is hit or miss. Still a good buy for a informal target or plinking gun.

I bought this to see if I'd like red dot sights and have been very pleased. The manual that came with it said not to use on anything more stout than .357 mag, but I wanted to use it on my .44 mag. Through several hundred max loads it has performed flawlessly. Never had to re-zero and the only thing that's come loose are the mount screws--no big deal, just check them now and then. I'm going to mount it on my .454 Casull today to see if it will hold up. At 1/10 the cost of other red dots I can't lose much. If you set the rheostat too bright it does look like an octopus but when set correctly it's just fine. Optics are nice and clear and target acquisition is excellent with both eyes open.

Easy to mount, easy to adjust, and easy to use. Iron sights just don't work as well as they did when my eyes were younger, and this red dot is a good economical solution. Other more expensive sights might be better, but this one is a good value for the money, in my opinion.

I put one of these on my Ruger 10/22. It works very well for the price. I had to dremel an extra slot into my Weaver base so it would fit (also had to do the same thing on some weaver bases for mossberg 500's to mount this unit for customers at a retail store). There are other bases available with more slots (at least for a 10/22), and I suspect that wouldn't be an issue. If you're looking for a cheap red dot for recreational shooting/small game hunting with a .22, this is a great buy.

Easily mounted and correctly positioned for gun balance on my Ruger GP100 357 Mag 6"Revolver with a 6" B-Square scope mount. Lots of choices for positioning scope forward if needed on the 6" mount rail. One ring is fixed and the other is slotted to accommodate where your base slots are cut (distance between slots). Red Dot is super bright. Rings hold securely and can be tightened almost too tight with a quarter from your pocket. Clicks for windage & elevation have clicks for adjusting. Will rate holding point of impact and the useful distance in later reviews once I get to the range. Nice so far!

WOW! Mounted it on an Ar-15 and expected mediocre performance. Was pleasantly surprised at how fast target aquision is! Both eyes open, no magnification. Be careful while sighting in, caps are so small, I almost lost one.

I'm giving this a five star simply because of price. I bought it originally to mount on my Mossberg 500 for a 3 gun match but at the last minute put it on an SKS-D for the same match. It performed well except that I had to have it on the highest setting to see the dot. It was a very sunny day and the dot washed out at any other setting. I noticed that at that setting the dot was not originally a perfect circle but was adequate for use in the match. It held up well and I actually didn't miss with any shots. This is the first red dot I've used and was pleasantly surprised with the ease of target acquisition. If you are just getting into red dots, this is the one to get.

I bought the Tasco Red Dot for my Ruger Mark III Hunter. Since I've never used a Red Dot of any kind, I liked the idea of spending $30 on my first to see if I liked it. I find the Mark III stock sights so accurate and so easy to use that my excitement to attach my Red Dot was mixed with doubt. Once I got the dot zeroed, I found the Red Dot awkward to use. But after a few hundred rounds and getting accustomed to shooting with both eyes open, the Tasco Red Dot has become my second favorite accessory next to my thumb savers and speed loaders. Today, my third outing with the Tasco, I was consistently hitting soup cans at 75 yards with the Ruger. For some that might be easy, but for me 10 shots one can was normal. Now the ratio is closer to 10 shots 5 cans. ADDED BENEFIT: Here's another added benefit that I didn't count on nor had I read anyone else mention it. The dot is a bit shaky but it really reveals trigger problems you might have. I have a four o'clock pull that's visible through the scope. The dot moves more obviously than the fiber optic front sight. Second, since the dot can be moved out of the scopes field of view, using the scope has helped me with my body frame mechanics and has definitely helped me with Quick Target Acquisition. RECAP: I went inexpensive to see if I liked using a Red Dot. I didn't like it at first, but after some use I love it. Now with almost 1200 rounds the Tasco is still on Zero. I would recommend the Tasco Red Dot. Quality for the price-great. Value-awesome. Function-as promised by Tasco. To anyone in doubt, you've spent $30 on things that sit unused in your closet. This won't be one of those things. You'll see.

I use this on my M4. Received a little flak from fellow CQB shooters for not buying the Aimpoint sight that most other M4s use. I silenced all critics, though, once they saw my quick target acquisition and shot groupings. Plenty durable and holds zero well. Not the brightest dot if you're shooting in afternoon desert sun. Works extremely well if you add Butler Creek flip-up scope covers (12eye & 15obj). If using for tactical purposes there is no need to step up to a 40mm, the 30mm gives you both eyes open target acquisition. Will withstand rapid fire. My only complaint is that you can't use this sight for co-witnessing. It's "built on" mount is too low to co-witness on a flattop and adding a riser block locates the sight about 3/8" over the top of the front iron sight. This is only an issue for AR and M4 rifles. If you use a riser or a carry handle mount you'll love this sight. Pretty good battery life on this unit, I left it on accidentally when I put my rifle in it's case for 2 days. The dot was still lit just as bright as when I put it away. As a matter of fact, I'm still running on the same battery. For the price you can't beat the quality. If you don't like it (which I doubt), at least you didn't sink a whole paycheck into it.

Good sight for the money. In bright sunlight the highest setting will let you see the red dot. Sight mounts securely and easily. It's easy to keep both eyes open with the sight. No glare/reflections from the glass. I would buy another one. Caveats. The dot isn't perfectly round, and if the setting is too high for the ambient light it looks like an octopus, but the large knob makes adjustment quick and easy.

I got this site to replace an NcStar model DAB that was beaten into submission atop a 44 magnum. Prior to that, it destroyed a Tasco pro point, after thousands of rounds. So far I have fired 500 rounds out from under this sight. It is staying put very well and holding zero under the punishment meted out by the 44 magnum. While, in my case I accept the fact that practically any sight I mount on this particular gun is doomed eventually, this sight is more than worth the price paid

This red dot has held up well to recoil and use at the range. The mounting system is a bit finicky and cheap, but the controls and adjustments work well. If the dot appears fuzzy, try focusing on a distant object or wear glasses that correct your vision to 20/20 or turn down the brightness. I found that the #8 setting works nicely outdoors. I measured the current draw and did some calculations to determine expected battery life in the #8 and #11 settings. At #8, expect 60 hours and 16 hours at #11. This isn't incredibly long compared to 1100 hours with the EOTech 512/552, or the 10,000 hours with an Aimpoint M2 or 50,000 hours with an Aimpoint M3.

Not a bad product considering the price. I had trouble with the threads on the mounting screws stripping out. I used some medium strength Loctite which seemed to correct the problem. I mounted it on a 10mm Glock and have about 100 rounds through it with no signs of coming loose. The tube is of good construction and the dot is visible in all but the brightest light. The dot leaves something to be desired as its more of a blob but you get what you pay for. Overall, a good buy for the money.

This sight is what you would expect for the price. I use it on a flattop AR and it works decently, but I feel like I should get something better made. The red "dot" is an amoeba like blob when viewed indoors, although it looks more like a dot in sunlight. However, only the top two settings are bright enough to be visible in even mild sunlight. The mount is very cheesy and took many instances of shoot a few rounds and tighten again before it finally locked in place. This would be a good sight for a rimfire or airgun but is not so good when two or three boxes of ammo cost as much as the sight. However, it is my first red dot and has motivated me to buy a nicer red dot for regular use.

I purchased this sight to mount on a S&W 22a pistol. When I tried to mount it the cross bolts, I would not travel far enough either way to fit the slots on this gun. I am really upset that Tasco does not supply the cross bolt spacing before you buy this sight, since they are built in and only go so far. I will be buying something with out built in mount from now on.

I mounted this site on an RWS .17 cal. air rifle, and the forward/backward hammering delivered by an air gun constantly knocked the red dot out of alignment. I mounted a second Tasco and the same thing happened. Note that these sites ARE NOT recommended for use with air guns so don't waste your money and time. They are probably fine for rimfire/centerfire as other reviewers have pointed out.
