Yeah this is a great mount for the SKS, if you want a scout type setup. It's very well made and once mounted is very solid and won't move at all. I used it with a Trijicon Reflex sight and it sat pretty high up, so you might need a cheek pad of some sort.

I found this product to be EXACTLY what I was looking for. It moved the mount from the more common receiver type to the 'Scout' type and lessened the shock to the scope. The fit and finish are very good.

I've found this product to be of absolute genius design. I used it to mount a BSA red dot sight in a long eye relief position on an SKS. To use this product, you depress the leaf spring detaining the rear sight and pull the sight down and aft from its recesses. This was easier said than done, but not difficult enough to be a strike against this product. After the rear sight is removed the leaf spring can be lifted up and pulled forward clear of the groove it rests in. This groove is then used to hold the rear-mounting block for the new sight rail. A pivot pin is inserted through old iron sight recesses and a forward hole in the new sight rail. A large setscrew provides elevation adjustment to allow the new rail to be positioned parallel to the barrel. Once properly adjusted, a screw binds the rail to the rear-mounting block to snug the system together. The instructions were clear, concise, and helpfully illustrated. All of the necessary hex keys were included to adjust the screws.

Product design is great. It is solid and stays in place after hundreds of rounds. Ease of installation is 1 on a scale of 1 to 10. Lots of filing needed on the base to fit the rings that came in the same package! Instruction is non-existent. It tells you how to install a different Millett base on a bolt-action rifle. Taking the mount off requires a punch and hammer.

I was not satisfied with this device, primarily because it puts my BSA red dot sight too high- no way to get a cheek weld or even close. Might work better with a smaller diameter tube. Mounting is easier said than done, but that may vary from one SKS to another. Instructions were adequate. I agree with a previous reviewer that there aren't enough grooves in the base, and it does block the gas tube. I am going to get one of those receiver mounted aperture sights instead.

I encountered two problems with this mount. First, the mount blocks gas tube removal. This means that not only do you have to go through the hassle of removing the mount every time you want to clean the tube (including tapping out the main mount pin) - you have to re-zero the rifle! I solved this problem by using a rotary tool to cut off most of the forward part of the mount, providing enough clearance for the gas tube to be removed. I was using a red dot sight - I don't know if there is enough length left for other scope types. I still have to remove the scope - but I think it will stay zeroed. The second problem is that the mount lacked grooves close enough for the Red Dot. Once again, I had to use the rotary tool to cut an extra grove. This seems to be a common problem with mounts as I had to do the same thing a while back with a handgun mount. On the positive side, the mount is rock solid - and is elevation adjustable. I am pleased with the results - but it took me quite a long time to install.

This item looks nice, but is not that great and is no longer on my rifle. The lack of grooves really limits the optics you can mount. I had to mill new slots to mount my scope. Installation is not too bad, but could probably be easier. The mount does require removal for basic cleaning. After a few removals and installations my mount is broken. The instructions state not to over tighten the screw, which I do not believe I did, it was not even snug when the base snapped. In my opinion this mount needs some work before it can get any rating over 1 star. Look for something else.
