Milled from a solid aluminum billet, this extended magazine release replaces the small, recessed factory release button of the Ruger 10/22 with a lever that extends to the rear, following the curve of the Ruger factory trigger guard. Magazines are extracted with ease by simply pivoting the ergonomic lever forward, significantly improving the speed of reloads.

Technical Information

Fits: Ruger 10/22

Notes:

  • This release is longer than the standard factory release, making it easier to release the magazine on the 10/22.

  • Overall Rating: 4.57 stars

Easy drop-in part. Works very nice with original box magazines and banana's.

I had a nice aluminum extended mag release and each time I bumped it while resting the 10/22, it would either eject the mag or cause feeding problems. Adding this lever remedies any premature drop of the mag and allows you to rest the gun however you want. A little loose fit, but great design! A few shims fixes the problem. Easy to install. Drops the mag crisply and effortlessly. All my squirrel shootin' buddies and brothers want one now!

Fantastic product. The struggle with 10/22 magazine releases is over. Works even better than the premium brand extended mag releases. Works perfectly with the stock trgger guard as-is, but it may take some minor modification (notches) to work with Volquartsen's angular trigger guards. Every 10/22 should come with these.

One fine product. I use to dig around and even turned the gun sideways trying to get the magazine out. With Tactical Solutions Release it is easy just a small push and the magazine drops right in to your hand.

I have always thought the designer of the 10/22 mag. release should have a prominent place in Dante's Inferno. This new release worked without failure on all my mags. Unfortunately it did not fit on the new Jard trigger assembly I bought so I never got to use it during actual firing. But I am sure it would work great as the mags actually fell free when the release was pressed. Now there has to be a place in Dante's for the designer of the release on my new and wonderful 1 pound trigger unit from Jard. The trigger is wonderful but the mag release is worse than the original Ruger unit if that's possible.

This release is very smooth, with magazines dropping easily from the action. It is much more effective than the factory magazine release. The only shortcoming was that mine came without installation instructions or even a diagram.

This magazine release has two valuable features that makes it superior to any other. The lever moves the magazine retaining lug farther than the stock part or several other aftermarket releases do. The lug completely clears the magazine by a lot. This design also carries well and I have not dropped magazines in the field with this one as bumping it during carry will not drop a magazine. My 10/22 is seriously tricked out and I bought this part originally just for looks. What a surprise in the function department. It works well. I am happy with the fit too and believe that those complainers who want to put shims in with this will only make the part less efficient to use with a wobble free fit. I don't fix what works well and believe the fit is correct and intentional by the manufacturer.

Looks and feels great. a quick flick of the finder and the magazine is out. As already stated, working with VQ triggerguards takes a bit of trimming.

Great addition to a 10/22. My kids used to struggle with removing the magazine, but really liked this release. Fits good on my rifle, no wobble like reported by others. For some reason, only half of my factory Ruger magazines drop free, the others require you to reach up and pull them out. I don't think this is a fault of this mag release, just thought I'd mention it.

I have bought several of these releases and have been very happy with them. They look and work good. The people that I have built guns up for have been very happy with them. When I build a gun up for someone this is the only release I recommend.

This is the finest example of an aftermarket part I have found in a very long time. The fit and finish are just great. It works exactly as it is supposed to. I have it on my 10/22 with a Butler Creek folding stock and it works perfectly every time. You can't go wrong with this part and Midway's price.

Overall a quality upgrade for a stock 1022. When I first installed it it held the mag release plunger in too far, it worked but mag was a little too loose for my liking. Since I'm refinishing my trigger guard assembly anyway I filed and sanded until I got the fit I wanted before new powder coat. It now follows the contours of the trigger guard and works GREAT. Magazine just drops right out when you push the release. Love it.

Easy install, only problem is that the fit is little loose. Will NOT work if you have a butler creek folding stock! The length keeps you from placing your finger on the middle finger grove of the grip. It still works though, I accidentally dropped a magazine in the snow when my glove worked its way into the 1/2 inch (or so) space between the pistol grip and end of release.

Function is fine. The release lever is engineered poorly not following the geometry of the Ruger trigger guard. It also causes a contact point with the trigger guard that could have long term effects. I inquired with Midway and was told they didn't know anything about it and to contact Tact Solutions. I tried Tactical Solutions three times and never got a response. Very very poor customer service. It works fine but just isn't right.
