Nice grips have had them on my Springfield 1911 for 2 years. They fill my hands well and I really like the control they give. Look real nice on the black stainless. Finish is great and would recommend for high end 1911's.

Purchased for use on a Stainless Taurus 1911. Perfect complement to the look and feel of the gun. I did have to inlet and trim the top edge of the right grip for the ambi safety.

Love these grips. They give you the "classy" look of wood with the control of rubber. Great cross of materials. Installed on my Springer pre mil spec no problem and I know I keep the front of the gun down better without the sacrifice of having a full rubber wrap around that just doesn't look as good!

These grips look excellent on my Kimber Stainless II. The fit is excellent and they make the gun fit my large hands much more comfortably. I feel like I have much more control.

To Chuck of Louisville, I hope you didn't go cutting the wood of your grips to fit your ambidextrous safeties...I have a Charles Daly 1911 with ambidextrous safeties and the American Legend grips fit perfectly...but I suspect I know what trouble you were having..when mounting on mine, the left-side wood was obstructed by the left side safety, until I cocked the gun and activated the safety, which swung the safety up out of the way (on both sides, obviously) and then the wood snapped perfectly into place. And to Joe in NH, you must have gotten a 2nd or something, because the color and finish of the wood on mine are perfect, a deep, beautiful rosewood color that is the perfect complement to the 1911. I was surprised to find they were one-piece, like other Pachmeyrs, with the rubber connecting the two wood pieces. It makes perfect sense, but for some reason I thought it would be two pieces of harder rubber, one on each wood grip, with a seem down the middle of the rubber. I think these American Legend grips are perfectly named, the perfect grips for a perfect gun and the styling and quality couldn't be better...the best of both worlds, beautiful Rosewood with soft rubber finger-grooves. The 1911 now feels perfect in my hand and the Legend grips did not make it any thicker to hold then the original grip panels. You can't do better than these.

These grips are pretty nice. There have been some complaints about the "give" behind the finger grooves, but I have no issues with them. The fit is just about perfect, and the finish is quite nice. Adds to the positive shooting experience with my old Ithaca 1911.

Great product! My husband teased me about how "pretty" they look on my 5" Springfield 1911 45., after trying them out he bought a pair for his Dan & Wesson Bobtail. He had to trim the wood a little to fit but it looks like it was made for his gun. Comfortable, secure grip even in the rain. Best buy for my gun yet!

Adds a nice look to my new Taurus PT1911 SS 45 Cal. You will need to lay it on the right side mounting studs and mark the limits of the right side ambi-safety "throw" and Dremel a groove to accommodate the part. You will end up with a 1/2" x 3/16" depth groove...use your plastic grip to get an idea of the placement. The rubber/wood panels are joined with a fastener through the medallion...very secure.

The fit and finish of these grips are great. No fitting was needed on my Taurus PT1911, but I have replaced the ambi thumb safety with a standard thumb safety so I do not know if minor fitting would be needed or not for ambi thumb safeties. This product really looks nice on my 1911 without compromising performance of the weapon. Thanks also to Midway for great service and shipping!!

My Kimber Pro Carry II really shines with these grips. I almost didn't want to shoot it, but I am glad I did. The extra control that these grips provided, kept my shot groups tighter than they have been in years. I have no complaints with either the appearance or the function of these.

I put a set of these on my Colt Series 70 about 4 years ago and love them! I have fixed my gun for use with a Gemtech Suppressor which tends to make it barrel heavy, the finger grooves make it a lot easier to hold it true and straight with the extra weight on the end, I am also fitted with a Jarvis EX/Threaded Barrel, Extended Slide release and Ambi Safety, I have had no problems with any of these items either in fit or function, of course they are a tight fit to stretch around initially, otherwise they would be sloppy when you handled the weapon, I would rather have to put a little elbow grease into stretching them around then to have them fit around super easy and then handle Sloppily as sin! I suppose it is just a matter of priorities is all, I put mine on final performance not super easy installation. The wood on mine are beautiful even after 4 years and a few thousand rounds worth of handling, they are also still holding a good tight fit which means everything to accuracy and do not interfere with any of my over sized extra length after market accessories I have installed. All in all among the nicest grips I have on any handgun I own and add a definite improvement to the appearance of the Colt 70 Series which has a really nice finish anyway from the factory. I would recommend these to anyone who is competent with their gun and is looking to improve both its appearance and performance, best money I spent on the entire gun. (except maybe the trigger job I had done in it) like the trigger job they look good and work even better (and there cheaper than a trigger job to!!!)

Excellent choice for the shooter interested in handsome grips with good functionality. I have large hands and find the rubber finger grooves excellent at filling my hand.

To: Daniel B. and others. I love my grips, but didn't like the hollow voids behind the finger grooves, too squishy. Here's the Fix: clean the inside of the grooves/hollows of any debris-dust, then wrap a 6 X 6 inch piece of saran type wrap around the gun frame. Carefully fill the grooves with silicone rubber bath caulk, just enough to fill the grooves but slightly higher. Keep the grip groove side down for about ten minutes, then attach it to the gun without pressing on the outside of the grooves. Brace the gun (with grips attached) in a grip-down position for at least a couple of days. When you remove the grips, the wrap will be stuck to the inside of the finger groove area. If it does not pull away from the silicone, just carefully trim it away with a razor blade. The grips will now feel firmer and the silicone will stay in place, as a void filler. The wrap protects the gun frame from any excess. Worked great for me. You'll love these great grips even more. Good shooting. Gunner..

I love Pachmayr products but these grips were a disappointment. The wood seemed worn and without much color and the rubber finger grooves felt limp.

These grips look really awesome, but I was disappointed in the quality. The medallions on the center of the grips fell off the first time I went shooting. And the rubber is not attached well to the wood. Also, in certain warm conditions, moisture builds up under the rubber grooves, be careful you dont damage the guns finish. They are also NOT cut for ambi safety. I emailed their support and they said they dont do it, and I was on my own. A dremmel tool fixed that. I dont use them anymore.

I wish I had read the review by Jeff Stennett of Gambrills, MD Date posted: 10/20/2005. I cracked mine trying to put them on a 1911 with Ambi safeties. Then I cut them to accommodate the extra safety lever. Too bad because they are really nice looking and functional grips. I wish they also made a version with a cut for Ambi safeties.

The grips looked nice when I got them and do a good job of reducing felt recoil. However the rubber is not attached to the wood well (if it is even possible to attach the 2 materials) and one of the emblems has fallen off. The rubber is a bit too soft and I don't like that there are hollow portions behind the finger ridges.

Dont fit OK, they fit loose. The wood used, seems cheap, however the tarnish used, gives a good color. Should be produced without the finger grooves

Grips do not support ambidextrous safeties. They require cutting out section of wood. Tried to call their 800 number to see how they recommend doing so--no answer after 10 minutes of "hold music" I do like the appearance and feel--just haven't bee able to actually use them yet.
