This is the best front rest that I have ever owned. The rest came with two front bags, one that just happened to fit my competition rifle perfectly and the other fits my other 5 rifles perfectly. For the money, you just can't go wrong. I also purchased one of Caldwell's new carrying cases and it really helped in transporting this beast around. Extremely satisfied and highly recommended!

This is a great rest for the money. I replaced the Caldwell bag with a leather Protektor bag. The rest has groves made to accommodate the Protektor bag and it is a perfect fit. The rest is heavy and very solid. I was very pleased with my purchase.

I did not experience any of the problems that other customers seem to have had with this product. In fact, I could not be happier with it. I own several rests that cost over 3 times as much as this one and I reach over them for this one every time I go. Highly recommended for serious long range shooting!!

This rest is a fantastic performer, especially for the price. All movements are smooth, without sloppiness. The ability to use different bags is a big plus. The weight is good enough for serious work. The only ding is the cheap level. Come on, caldwell, you can do better than that! Otherwise, I like it a lot, and would buy it again. Highly recommended for serious target shooters and load developers.

Very well put together. Adjustments work smooth and precise. I experienced a minor fitting problem with the leveling buble. A small needle file took care of the problem. Has the perfect amount of weight. Use a different front bag if you are shooting a rifle smaller than a fifty. Highly recomended!

The rest works perfect for me. I like the height, but average size shooters might find it a little tall.

Best bang for the buck! My rest did not suffer from the tolerance issues mentioned in other reviews and Caldwell has started shipping the product with the medium deluxe front rest bag in addition to the two sizes of three lobe models included. For the price this can not be beat. The rest nest case makes this incredibly convenient to transport. If you want to remove the human element from shooting, spend $600. If not, this rest will not disappoint.

This is a really great front rest. It is heavy (stays in place) and easy to set up on the bench. Yes I purchased the carry case, it's really nice. The base is powder finished really nice. All the adjustments work really smooth. When you get it set, tighten the elevation and windage knobs and it's Rock Solid. The front bags provided are a bit small but they will do until you figure out what you need... they're add on. The lower bag is also small but works fine until you decide what you need. If there were any things they need to do I would say it would be to provide a better set of assembly instructions (provided ones hard to see and use) and an illustrated user guide. These are also hard to see and use. Overall I'm very pleased with the purchase and would do it again in a minute.

The level is a joke, the front bags were a joke and fit perfectly in my trash can, the windage is not very effective. It moves in an arc not strait and returns by spring power, so it may return or may not return. I trashed the top and added a brand new Farley Compact rest. Now we are talking about a front rest. The Caldwell base is very good but the bearings make dents in the elevation wheel since the bearings are steel and the elevation wheel is alunimum. The feet are not quality so I replaced them too. This front rest makes a good starting platform to build a good rest.

The rest itself is sturdy and looks like it will last a lifetime. The rest bag was a total diappointment. For the money you're paying they should include a decent bag especialy since the product is pictured with a bag that is nothing like what is included. This might be considered deceptive. There was no notation to inform you that the bag pictured is not the bag that comes with the rest. They would be better off not including the bag they ship so that you can go ahead and order a decent bag and not have to wait til you see the el cheapo in the box. Other than the bag I'm completely satisfied with the rest.

The rest works very well for it's price range. The factory bags work good for benchrest stocks only. If you don't have a benchrest stock, buy some Caldwell universal front bags.

I like this rest very much! I did not have the problems that some of the others have had. I also got the "rest nest" for it and I am very glad that I did, the rest fit in it very well and makes it easy to move around. I am not sure how you would move that heavy thing around with out it.

Good product, but supplied rest bags are a joke and a little misleading to sell these puny bags with this heavy duty rest.

Well let's start with saying for the money this product is good. Nice job upgrading the front bag. The standard bag is junk. My dislikes about the rest were, the fine adjustment set up could use come attention, I felt it was very sloppy. I was not overly impressed with the finish of the base it showed various casting marks and grinding marks paint was ok. I have used other Caldwell products and have been pleased. I don't like the 0-5 star rating so I will give it a 75% I like the rest but it is not a rock solid 1,000 yard model in my opinion. If you ever get the chance to shoot from other more costly rests you will understand my review. Still in all I am happy with the rest and will continue using it. Remember at the end of the day it is all about what a person can afford and the price of this rest on sale made it a good deal for me.

The basic design of the rest is sound, however quality control of the machining and deburring could be better. 1) The threads in the hand wheel are not perpendicular to the bearing face which causes the rest to orbit during adjustment. Having a machinist face (true) the hand wheel in a lathe is the only way to fix this problem. 2)The slot cut into the adjustment post must be deburred and needs a smoother slot bottom to eliminate rough adjustment. 3)The round bubble level should be replaced with a transverse vial bubble level.

Pro's. Heavy, lots of vertical adjustment. affordable price. Con's. included bags unusable, level bubble came off never worked anyways, missing screw sent for new one, top wobbles, windage adjustment unsatisfactory. If I shot benchrest I would purchase a differen't rest alltogether. But this one will get me by.

A good idea but not very well built. First off the exploded diagram is blurred and to small to read. The fine adjustment center post is .015" smaller than the course adj. center post and it sure does wobble until tightened real good. The lock down screw for the fine adjuster was too large to fit in the milled grove it was suppose to go in.

I received my Caldwell Rock BR 1000 yd Mod. and one of the main parts was broken. I called Midway and asked them to send another. But when the part arived it was the wrong part. Called Midway and they reshiped the right part. I called Caldwell and told them about the problem. I found out the drawings were wrong. After using the rest I found that the two bags that come with the rest will not work with a benchrest gun. I am now changing the cross feed to a different setup. the spring that returns the top back to center is not strong enough. After reworking this rest it may make a good BR rifle rest. I will say both Midway and Caldwell worked with me to replace the broken part.

This is my third review of this product. This rest suffers from some serious quality problems. It is not precision bored or assembled. Vernier height adjustment has excessive lateral movement or 'swim'. There are many better rests on the market for the money.

This is my second review of this product and now that I have used it I think even less of it than I did before. About the only good thing I can say about this rest is "it's heavy". The windage adjust really stinks. It moves in an arc rather than straight left and right and requires a spring for returning which it may or may not do. This rest is just not very well designed or built...

This is the worst product that Caldwell has ever put out! Do not waste your money on this item! The quality is terrible! If this cost $5.00 it would be a waste of money! Parts were missing, the screw holes were not done correctly. All in all this is a bad investment! Spend a few more dollars and buy a rest that is not made in China or Thailand! This is not worthy of a paper weight! If this is the quality that Caldwell puts out they will never get my business again!
