I had reservations about how long this tools would last, but it has worked 100% of the time for over 3 years, and pulled probably 200+ .270 and .30-06 loads. My first hit with it last night and the plastic cap shattered. But no worries - I just got off the phone with RCBS and, as always, they have a new one in the mail. Whatever rare shortcomings may be found in their tools are more than made up for by their high level of customer service.

Assuming you have a hard striking surface and don't mind a little noise, this durable plastic kinetic bullet puller will pull any handgun bullet from a .32acp and up. However, one must understand that cartridges with lighter bullets such as the .32 ACP and .223 Rem will require extra effort to pull as this unit along with all other kinetic type pullers rely on the momentum of the bullet generated during the swing to pull the slug... therefore the lighter the bullet (or harder the crimp) the more difficult the pull. A 55gr .223 or 60gr .32acp may take a few hard raps, but a .45acp will spit out its 200-230gr pill like magic.

Once you get the hang of it, 1 or 2 solid smacks on end of a 4x4 is all it takes. After unloading 200 rds of oversize 9mm that don't fit new gun, jaws show a little wear, but otherwise looks like new. I never had any problems. If you have a lot to unload it can be a pain to unscrew cap and empty after each round, but a must have for those occasional oh schlitz.

Originally bought this for just pulling bullets to look at them, but since I’ve got into Reloading it's been invaluable for correcting my mistakes. Being plastic, I didn't expect it to last long, but it's actually been one of the most reliable tools I have. It's stood up to repeated hard whacks on concrete over 150 rounds, and it's still going strong. Highly recommended!

This is a great product. A note to buyers: it takes a little while to get used to this product. My first bullet took about 20 hits before it came apart, but after about 150 bullets, I can get them apart in about 3-6 hits. I would recommend hitting this on concrete with short, hard, controlled strikes. Great product.

Works just like it should. If you use it with pistol cartridges that have not yet been crimped, the bullet practically jumps out of the case. Crimped rifle rounds are more work, but all that teaches you is to be more careful. Recommended.

This is the 2nd one of these units I have used. I sold the other along with all of my other reloading gear about 5 years ago. Well I'm back into it and I'm only trying to buy the products that worked well. I pulled hundreds of bullets with the first one and never had a problem. Mostly doing random checks for proper powder weight, I also pulled 500 223 bullets from a old military load because the ammo can had a lot of condensation in it. I would rather pull it apart and start over than trust old ammo that has been sitting in a wet can. Well I'm back using my 2nd RCBS hammer and it is identical to the one I bought years ago. That's very reassuring, the first one worked perfect, I’ve only pulled a few hundred rounds from this one and it seems to be better. It can't be, it's the same design, maybe I was just used to it. I have read reviews of this saying to only hit it on a block of wood but all of my use is smacking it on my basement floor and it has never broke or chipped. Also the best way to insert the case is to take the collet out and push it in from the back. If you just loosen the collet screw(the piece of plastic that unscrews off the back)and insert the case from the case head (the end with the primer) into the wide end of the collet (when the collet is screwed in the rounded edge is facing out. the inside has a sharp step) just a small push and the collet edges firmly grab the case. Hit it on a solid surface and you're bullet and case will be separated quickly. This is a solid made unit that is more than worth the small amount of money spent.

This is a very durable bullet puller... I've used it on several hundred rounds of ammo (mostly someone else's reloads I got in a deal... I pulled them because I don't trust other people's reloads). Smacking on a concrete floor doesn't hurt it, and there's a felt cushion in it to protect the bullet. I think this is much better than the metal/plastic pullers, because I've seen the plastic on things built like that break too many times. It also carries the RCBS lifetime guarantee, so you can't go wrong. Also works great if you over-seat a bullet... a few taps moves it back out to where you can work with it.

I had 50 rounds of .480 Ruger I screwed up, and those components aren’t cheap. I ordered the RCBS puller and after a few practice whacks, being sure to tighten the cap after each whack, I had it down to a science. Also, it seemed to work best on a concrete patio block as opposed to wood. It paid for itself on just those 50 rounds.

I was a little skeptical at first after reading some negative reviews, but after about 400 rounds of surplus steel cased rifle ammo this still works flawlessly with no signs of any structural weakness. You just have to remember that you're not swinging a framing hammer. I use a leftover piece of firewood as my striking surface. IF this ever does break, I will definitely buy another.

I think the RCBS Pow'r Pull Impact Bullet Puller is a great deal for the money. After reading the reviews I was skeptical (as some were good and some bad). However, the first day I had the puller I used it to pull the bullets on thirty (30) .260 Remington rounds. Georgia Arms puts a heavy crimp on their loads, so I wondered how the puller would work. I followed the direction and had no problems at all. Great tool!

A NECESSARY EVIL that every reloader should own! For those that have noted it takes a few taps to knock a bullet loose...YOU'RE BEING TOO GENTLE. I give it a solid blow on a chunk of Osage. 1 or two strikes is all it takes to remove crimped 38 wadcutters that are deeply-seated in the case. Albeit a pain in the neck to insert, screw down the cap, WHACK then open and dump...repeat...repeat, it sure beats wasting components on those rounds that a reloader 'just ain't sure about'. Spend the money and you will recoup the cost in saved X-spensive components on any and all OOPS that come across or from your reloading efforts. SAFETY IS PARAMOUNT and when in doubt...pull it and be doubly-sure! The RCBS whack-a-block method works well. Just be sure to securely tighten the back cap to prevent premature fracture and failure of the tool. See ya at the range.

I bought this bullet puller about two months ago to salvage some brass, bullets, and primers from ammunition that I no longer have firearms for. I pulled about 700 bullets over the course of a couple of hours each day for three days. No problems at all with the product, though I wouldn't recommend to anyone that they attempt to pull that many bullets with a hammer style puller. So far so good, I already got my money back out of it and its showing no signs of stress or cracks. I'd buy it again.

Pretty good product, wouldn’t use it for high volume projectile removal. This would be more suited to the occasional ' corrective ' pull or low volume use. Had purchased this primarily for 7mm Remington Magnum cases as I had several hundred that required pulling as a misprint was later found in the load data used. Concerned of using an actually puller that would defect the bullets I went to this striker. While this did work, the threaded cap split in two after about 100rounds. Luckily it was a perfect split in 2 pieces & plastic epoxy & electrical tape on the outside allowed me to use it until I was done. A few notes, get a nice thick piece of wood to smack squarely & wear hearing protection! The rest of the unit held up fine. Worked even w/ crimped loads. I am going to be getting a pulling die for the press for future removal.

The product works well with .223 Rem. However, the instructions are wrong: they say to use several light fast taps. That doesn't work. 2-3 Hard slams will shake the bullet out. Makes a lot of noise. If you are going to be pulling a lot of rounds apart, you should get the other models that mount in your press. But this works fine for pulling a couple of rounds.

I used packing tape to tape around to hold the 3-way chuck then more on top, works but rather a pain. On my standard cartridges, 257 Roberts, 250 savage A+.

It does the job if you're pulling hollow points, or fmj, or bullets that you just don't care about. But with bullets with the plastic or lead tips, you will break off the plastic or smash the lead tips when the bullets comes out and hits the bottom of the puller. Some of these designer bullets aren't cheap.

I bought one of these in November, 2008 and it broke in January, 2009 just below the collet threads (about 45 uses). I called RCBS and they stated it had a lifetime warrantee, ship it to them. I did so and more than a month later, I'm still looking for it's replacement. I suppose that RCBS considers a lifetime is over when the unit dies. AVOID THIS PULLER, it will only break your heart. I gave this item one star because there isn't a lower option.

Pulled about 25 .223 bullets and the very thin lip of the aluminum (yeah that's right aluminum, not steel!) collet broke and would not grip the shell case any more. I bought a new one and started again. After about 5 pulled bullets the head of the hammer broke off. The bullets were seated without cannelure or crimp. RCBS did offer to replace it if I shipped it back. But what am I going to do, ship it back to them after every 25 bullets or so pulled? This is one poorly designed piece of junk.

I could not get it to pull a single .308 bullet, both factory and handloads. I just don't see how a plastic hammer can last very long, maybe I was being too easy on it but all it did was unseat the bullet just a hair.

This is a piece of junk. The old RCBS bullet puller had a steel shaft, but RCBS cheapened it and went to plastic. The plastic handle consistently breaks. RCBS took a good product and cheapened it so that it is now a piece of junk. Don't buy this bullet puller.

I pulled less than ten 40 S&W cases and the plastic screw assembly shattered into two very sharp pieces. It is a good thing I was wearing safety glasses because one piece hit square where my eye would have been and the other piece hit below the glasses cutting my face. If you enjoy personal injury this is the product for you. If not buy something less dangerous.

I have had very good experience with RCBS over the years - their dies are first class. However, this puller is certainly not up to their usual standards. The cap nut broke after removing fewer than 20 bullets. I called RCBS and they sent another cap nut (free of charge) out pronto. Unfortunately, the replacement cap nut only pulled about five bullets before it shattered also. I'm going to call again and try to get a replacement but I definitely would not buy another one of these pullers!

I too had the screw on cap shatter on me, the bigger half hit me in the ear, luckily not the eye, as was not wearing eye protection. I too will buy a better brand!

I disassembled 10 .243 win. cartridges then the back plastic collar broke in two. I will be returning this puller for a collet style.

I pulled about 15 - 20 bullets over the 2 months that I owned it and, like many other's reported, the plastic screw on cap broke. Definitely a design issue. I'll call RCBS tomorrow and if no replacement caps sent, I'll go with another brand and/or method.

Lasted almost a year. Used it against a wooden block clamped in my vise. Basically the plastic nut shattered. Next vendor please.
