My Rem 700 VSSF in 308 was glass bedded using a Brownells glass bed kit and it shrunk my 100 yd groups to 1/2" using Black Hills 168HPBT Match. The Jewell two stage trigger is not like the light first stage of an M1A trigger. The Jewell has a stiff and short first stage. However, the release of the second stage is very crisp and clean. Watch the placement of the bolt spring lock prior to install so you don't confuse it when you reinstall the parts. Otherwise, the install is very simple and required no modification to my stock. The Jewell trigger reduced my 100 yd groups by half turning my rifle into a cheap and an affordable match rifle.

I too have nothing but high praise for the best trigger on any rifle I own, with the exception of maybe my Anschutz 1907. It is top notch in functionally, consistence, and any other category you can think of. Jewell certainly outdid themselves with this work of art.

Truly amazing! The crosshairs don't move, even on 12 power at 300 yds. So absolutely smooth, it WILL floor you. Had to go to the Dremel tool three times for minor fitting, perfect fit though. Will definitely be buying these triggers for my other rifles. Thanks Jewell and Midway for making them available.

I have been lucky enough to have had my finger on many custom rifle triggers. My friends and I shoot varmints on a regular basis, so needless to say we are always looking for a great trigger. I have finally found the altimate trigger. There are two kinds of triggers, Jewell and everyone else. Jewell rocks! Very simple to install too, the sear and sear spring are contained withing the trigger body, it is as simple as popping out to retaining pins, swaping triggers and replacings the pins. Done!

A friend of mine that has installed many an aftermarket trigger suggested the Jewell compared to the other brands. We installed a Jewell on a 700, 22-250 of mine. On my electronic trigger scale I was amazed at the consistency of ten pulls in a row. It's right in there with my custom guns. Don't buy one unless you're prepared to put one on every gun you can, you won't be happy otherwise.

Absolutely incredible product. My hats' off to the guys at Jewell and Midway. The trigger went in in about 20 minutes with no problems whatsoever. Anybody can install this product. The only problem I had was that someone forgot to tell me that the hammer and hammer return spring would also fall out of the stock trigger. Other than having more parts laying on the bench that I anticipated, no problems. This installation was on a Rem. 700 VS 308. No inletting or stock clearance problems at all. Now to functionality. I shot benchrest rifles back in the late 60's-early 70's but I have to say this trigger is hands down better than anything I have ever felt. Absolutely perfect. I'm heading to the range ASAP and I anticipate my groups will shrink significantly. If you're looking for the absolute best, look no further than Jewell.

This trigger breaks so clean and consistent that after you try it, no factory trigger will be the same. So even though it cost almost as much as half the rifle, the difference it will make in accuracy will be well worth it.

This is the 1st after-market trigger I have ever purchased, and the decision was based on the reviews posted here. As far as the installation is concerned, inletting on the safety side is required for the 700 BDL walnut stock, along with some filing of the trigger guard for the bolt stop release to clear. And yes, watch out for the bolt stop spring - attach some tape to it before punching out the pins. My Jewel breaks consistently at 8 oz. out of the box with no creep or overtravel. The only complaint I have is that the trigger is narrow, short and square. However, I remedied this by cutting off the factory trigger and epoxying it to the Jewel, since the grove in the back of the Rem. trigger matched the width of the Jewel perfectly. It's not an inexpensive unit, but well worth the money, as I'm convinced that it's the best.

I changed the pull to 2 LBS. I installed the trigger on a Rem. 700 VSF .308 WIN. No fitting was required. Do yourself a favor and spend a little extra for a product you can depend on.

I installed this trigger in a Remington 700 XCR and found a couple things. First, you will have to inlet the stock on the safety side of the trigger. Second, with the trynite finish you may find you have to polish the inside of the trigger guard to allow the bolt release to move freely. The trigger came set at .8 ounces. I set it at 1.5 pounds and it is extremely consistent. The Jewel is by far the smoothest trigger I've used. It is very high quality and you can trust it.

Trigger installation was relatively easy; it was truly a drop-in fit for my new 700 VSSF. Stock trigger out-of-box trigger pull was about 6 lbs. 10 oz.; I adjusted my new Jewell from the 1 lb. set weight to about 2 lbs. 5 oz.. As expected, the trigger is excellent in feel and well-made. Installation note: The trickiest part of the installation may be the bolt release spring return. Since the stock spring is re-used, take a good look at placement before disassembling the stock setup. When putting the spring back into place, a small Allen wrench inserted from the opposite side of the trigger proves invaluable to holding the spring into position while putting in the rear pin. Tools recommended: Allen wrenches, gunsmith's nylon/brass hammer and various sized punches.

This is the BEST trigger made for the Rem 700 but also costs the most (hey, you only live once). I installed it in about 30 minutes into my old Rem 700 22-250 Varminter, dramatically improved my gun's accuracy even though my friend Teeny and I had adjusted the original stock trigger to get it light as possible with no creep or overtravel yet work safely (rubber hammer test and bounce test), old one was about 1 3/4 lbs pull, best we could do after hand polishing the sear faces. The Jewell's one lb "as delivered" setting is fine (passes above safety tests too) for my purpose but nice to know I can go any other setting with it. This is an understatement, one pound with a feel like silk is more like it. To install you need a brass pin punch, hammer, rubber hammer and 30 minutes. It drops in perfect. Be aware of bolt return spring and assemblies construction, figuring that out cost me 20 minutes of the 30 minute install time! It should have been a no brainer, I just did it outside at the gun range so was distracted. The Jewell is also easy to fine adjust AFTER install without having to take action out of stock. I am a VERY HAPPY BOY like the old Beat Farmer's tune. Hubba hubba hubba! Teeny has a super custom 6-284 Bench Rest gun with a safe 2 oz Jewell, now THAT is amazing!

I am buying one now, not for a 2 oz bench rest setting but to replace the trigger on my 700 22-250 pasture poodle popper and set at about 1 lbs, who knows, maybe lighter. : )

I bought one of these last year to see what it was like. I liked it so well, I've now installed one of these in all five of the Remington 700's that I own. The Jewell trigger is designed in such a way that you can adjust trigger pull force, sear engagement and overtravel independently. It is a 3 bar design, rather than the factory 2 bar. This is the key to the independent adjustment, and it is a safer design than the factory design, since sear engagement isn't closely coupled to trigger pull force. This is also a factor in the fact that it is just about impossible to set it off by random impact on the gun. It is easy to adjust, and it is reliable and consistent, even at low settings. The safety and bolt release work every bit as well as the originals. On my H. S. Precision stocks (Sendero and aftermarket), I did not have to do any inletting to get the trigger to fit. On my Remington BDL DM wood stock I had to inlet a bit, and also on my Remington 700 Ti Kevlar/Carbon Fiber stock and my Remington 700 Laminated stock. I used a Dremel tool, and was done in less than 5 minutes. The safety mechanism interferes with the non H.S. Precision stocks, so the relief required is on the side of the safety. H. S. Precision inlets their stock for the trigger with enough room for drop in installation of the Jewell. In a nutshell, I really love these triggers. I've tried other aftermarket triggers for the Remington 700's, and I have to say that none of them were as crisp, smooth, and safe, as the Jewell.

Worth every penny. I first bought the Timney 510 trigger but the safety and bolt release didn't work or fit well at all. I then bought the Jewell and its fit and funtion are flawless and the installation was simple. This is the trigger that Remington should have put in the rifle when they made it. Don't waste your time or money with any other trigger.

This trigger is perfection. Unfortunately after using it I'm now spoiled for life and will never be satisfied with factory triggers again. Installation isn't difficult but take note of the bolt release lever and spring orientation before removing the old trigger since you'll have to re-use them. Some careful inletting with a Dremel tool was necessary on my BDL wood stock. The factory setting was just right for me and I didn't feel the need to make any further adjustments. It breaks consistently perfect every time and I couldn't get it to release with any amount of bumping, releasing the safety, etc. I can't imagine a better trigger. These are well worth the cost if you value quality.

Absolutely amazing. The travel is very smooth and release very crisp. It’s all stainless steel and easy to clean. Everything on this trigger is adjustable and it actually works as claimed, even the two-stage operation. Very easy to install, (unlike the Timney, it’s really drop-in installation), it would take about 10 minutes. The best feature is probably the possibility to adjust the pull weight without removing the receiver from the stock. This trigger is two classes above the Timney I used before. I guess they are right: you do get what you pay for.

This is one sweet trigger that will improve anyone's shooting over a factory trigger. Installation was relatively easy but not a complete drop in job on my new Rem 700 VSSF in 22-250 cal. Rem stock trigger pull was about 6 lbs. 10 oz. as others have said. I adjusted my new Jewell from the 1 lb. factory weight to about 1.5 lbs. which was more comfortable for me on a rifle used for varmint hunting. As others have said: "The trickiest part of the installation may be the bolt release spring return. Since the stock spring is re-used, take a good look at placement before disassembling the stock setup." Good advice. There is a lot of good info on the internet that will help with installation. I did not have to do any milling to my stock to make the safety fit but, had to grind off a small amount of metal on the left inside of the trigger guard housing to allow the bolt release lever to move up and down freely. This was easily done with a Dremel and a round stone. A very minor hassle considering the major improvement to the gun. I do this sort of minor gunsmithing myself because a good gunsmith is hard to find these days. When you do find one, they are very expensive and take months to get your gun back to you. I will be putting Jewels’' on the rest of my precision guns. Enjoy!

The Jewell trigger made an enormous difference in the performance of my Remington 700 BDL .30-06. With the stock Remington trigger, I had been firing 8 inch groups - very frustrating. After Bob the gunsmith at Dakota Gunworks installed the Jewell trigger, the first group I fired measured 2 inches - in the sitting position, with a sling, leaning against the leg of the bench at the range. Back story: When I was a kid, my dad bought me a .22 target rifle that the owner had used in competition, and he had "tweaked" the trigger, with a trigger shoe, an overtravel stop, and a light, smooth pull. I fired one hole groups with that .22, and that trigger spoiled me for life, until now. I have the Jewell, product #: 706845, with the 3 pound pull, which is just right for me - I wouldn't want it any lighter for hunting. I especially appreciate the clean break and zero overtravel of the Jewell, and the safety is also much smoother and quieter. The "upshot" (pardon the pun) of having the Jewell trigger in my 700 is this: On the opening weekend of the 2008 deer gun season, I was able to take a 190 pound whitetail doe at 150 yards - with a head shot. The precision of the Jewell trigger made me confident in my shooting skill once again. The Jewell is worth every penny. My only regret is that I didn't get one sooner!

I can't rate this product highly enough- in a word, superb. I installed it in a Rem 700 VSSF II in .223Rem and it fitted into the stock with no modifications required. I agree with some comments below that the instructions could be a little clearer,. Google ‘Jewell triggers Remington 700’ and you will find a couple of comprehensive sets of instructions. Installation took me less than 30 mins and I am no gunsmith. A second 1/8th punch is handy to hold things in place while you put pins back in. I ordered the trigger with the 1lb pull and I measured the pull once installed with my Lyman digital gauge and took the average of 10 pulls. They came out at an average of 1 lb 0.1oz with zero creep or over travel.

Great trigger, TOO easy to install. 1 TIP, LOOK AT THE BACKSIDE BEFORE YOU JUST JUMP IN, SEE WHERE THE BOLT RELEASE SPRINGS GOES that's the only [stop in think] to do and get an alignment pin to hold the trigger in place so you can tap the holding pins back in. The three adjustment screws let you tune this very easily, nice to have a little scale to read trigger pull. Very happy with this trigger. Read all the other reviews for technical specs, these are hints I thought could be helpful.

Before even firing one round from my new Remington 700 LTR I had to replace the stock trigger immediately. Remington states their X-Mark Pro triggers “Break like Glass” and this is true. However, to do this, one must first overcome the factory set 5.5 pounds of trigger pull. The Jewell on the other hand, installed very easily. After reading as much as I could on the internet, I decided to give it a go. The only thing I would recommend is marking one side of the bolt stop for a reference if you are in doubt. Otherwise, it was a piece of cake. The performance of the trigger is Awesome!!! I even had to increase the pull weight just a tad from the factory settings. Unlike the Remington which has to be sent to the factory for adjustment, one can adjust the Sear Engagement, Overtravel and Pull force via three set screws without any disassembly and these adjustments can be done independently which is really nice. I had two friends try out my new rig who own similar guns with aftermarket triggers from different manufactures. They originally wanted Jewell's but did not want to spend the money. Guess who is Now Swapping out their triggers? One other note, Jewell does not recommend using solvents or gun oil. Just flush the trigger unit out with Lighter Fluid and nothing else so you might want to have a bottle on hand.

-PURE AMAZING- My Jewell arrived, and without hesitation I installed it in less than 30 minutes. Jewell triggers are such a breeze to adjust. I has able to get the trigger weight I wanted w/ just an Allen key. I had a factory tuned 1 lb. trigger in my 700; The Jewell trigger came set at 1 lb. but the Jewell broke so much more "cleanly". I adjusted my trigger to about 8 oz. The trigger is on a heavy long range hunting rig, so I like the light triggers. I harvested a nice speed goat buck today at 350 yards w/ this trigger. It broke exactly when I expected it to break, and I only had three shots prior to taking the antelope for re-zeroing. Over $200 for a trigger seems like a risky move, but for me and so many others posting a review here it was definitely worth it.

Put into a 700 SPS build that I want to shoot an inch at 100 meters at a bargain price. Wow! Easily installed with a very gentle punch and a little patience with the bolt release lever spring. First three rounds of BH Moly 168's were touching in .75 inch. I'm impressed with this trigger!!

I have installed several different makes of triggers in the 700 Remington and this trigger is the best of all. It has the safety already installed so there is no changing the factory safety to the new trigger assembly. Adjustments (overtravel and weight) are easy and very consistant. Range was measured from one (1) pound to about (3)pounds. It is well worth the money.

Just installed on my Rem 700 .243. Installation was straight forward and simple. Some minor inletting to the stock on the safety side. Trigger is very crisp and clean, I can't wait to shoot it! The only thing that bothered me was that the safety seemed to feel really weak, but it does work. The stock Rem safety felt alot stronger. This is my first Jewell Trigger so I don't have another one to compare it to. Maybe this is an isolated event. Nevertheless this is still the best trigger I have ever pulled.

Just bought a Sendero with the X trigger. After squeezing it a few times I thought it was pretty decent. Certainly not bad enough to warrant a $230 replacement. I had the Jewell on order for it and figured I'd at least give it a try. WOW. What an incredible trigger. VERY easy to install and adjust. It truly surprises you every time you pull it. I'm spoiled for life. The $230 is pretty spendy, but if you want the best this is it.

I bought a Rem VSSF 223 last year, my first Rem rifle and it has a gerat chamber and barrel, easily capable of extraordinary accuracy right out of the box. Except for the terrible 10 lb trigger; I know that Rem is afraid of liability issues, but this trigger is terrible. I couldn't even get the adjustment screws loose; which is a good thing because the trigger is junk. The Jewel trigger is a drop in replacement; I took a digital snap of the bolt spring placement and had the Jewel trigger in the rifle in minutes. Worth every penny, crisp, perfect trigger. I have built several multilever triggers from scratch and believe that the Jewel trigger is one of the best that I have ever seen.

I put this trigger into a Rem 308 SPS Varmint. Install was a snap. If using the factory plastic molded stock you will have to remove some matierial to allow the safety to work. The safety arms on the side of the trigger housing will hit the stock, but lets face it how many heavy barrel 308 owners use the plastic factory stock. Anyway swapped the action into the HS stock and tourqed it down and my goodness. This trigger is heaven on earth compared to rem 40x blaugh. No creep, no clunk, no straining trigger finger, just pure snap and that bullet has allready been in the berm before you realized you just shot off a round. Absolutly amazing, and you dont have to pull the gun apart to adjust it if you want to make it lighter or heavier. Hats off to jewel on this one.

Great trigger. It will take some getting used to if you are already used to factory triggers. The bolt release spring is a som-b. Take a picture of it before disassembling. Also, when you are reinstalling the pins, be sure that the safety lever is out of the way or else you will bend it when driving in the pin. My gun, 700 LSS in .243, did require some inletting. When you reassemble to test the safety, make sure that the gun is cocked, or else you will think that you still have some inletting to do, because the safety will not move if it isn't cocked.

The finest trigger I have ever used. Have worked and installed several triggers and this was by far the first change over I had no problems with at all. Simple turn of a screw that you can get to with action in stock and I had the 8 oz trigger I wanted. Crisp and clean with no noticeable over travel. Let my Range Master feel it and he had one three days later for a 223 he's building for 600 meter matches and all he has so far was the action. Barrels are 2 weeks away and custom A-5 stock 6 weeks +. I would recommend this trigger to anyone quick adjust and it's ready to go from the range to the field and never have to remove from stock. Also cut groups in half at the least. A++++++++++++++

I purchased one of these triggers and put it on my 243. While it was fairly accurate before, the groups shrunk drastically after installing the new trigger. I did find it difficult to figure out how to install the trigger myself. A gunsmith might be the best answer.

At first glance I was disappointed in the size of the trigger after shooting the very large/wide factory one. This soon went away after installation. I am used to my Ruger trigger with all of its creep. I never got used to the Remington factory trigger hence the reason for this replacement. After firing the rifle several times after installation I am glad it is small/thin. I will not have any problem with not knowing when the rifle is going to fire. Do not put your finger inside the guard unless you are ready to fire if you are accustomed to the factory trigger. The wind will discharge the rifle, which is how light the trigger feels compared to the factory one. I did do a slam test from about 4-5” from a hard floor 10-15 times and it did not fire. The trigger is awesome at the factory settings. It did come with two additional springs to lighten the pull, but the instructions are non-existent on changing them. I think it will be fine with the A spring.

There was no creep at all. It was crisp and took exactly 1 lb to fire.. Worth every penny. It's a NO BRAINER!!!

This trigger has so many 5 star reviews that if you don't buy it, you're going to be missing out on life! I was told that as soon as you start shooting with a Jewell Trigger, you'll end up putting one on any rifle you own that can take one and let me tell you that it's true! I already have two of them and one of them is on my Remington 700 .270 WSM in stainless. When I first bought the rifle, no matter how much load development I tried, the thing would group around an inch or so. I know this accuracy is good for a hunting rifle but not for me. So I bought a McMillan stock for it and this trigger and now the rifle groups 5 shots in under .5" CONSISTENTLY as long as I don't heat the barrel up. The stock isn't bedded or anything like that but what made the greatest difference is this trigger. It will literally cut your groups in half because it will it breaks so clean that every shot always catches you by surprise. I have mine set at 2.5 pounds and I love it. I can maintain 1" 3 shot groups in the field shooting off hand with it and even if I pull the trigger quickly, it's so light and clean the barrel doesn't move at all when the trigger is pulled. So take it from me and buy this trigger and you too will end up putting one on everything you own!!!

I put a Timney trigger on my Rem 700 LH 30-06. My safety doesn't work after 2 months. I read the reviews on the Jewell trigger and finally bite the bullet and ordered 5 for my varmint and Sendero rifles. They are complete w/ safety and bolt release (extra $ on Timney). I installed the Jewell triggers myself at an average of 10-15 minutes each. The documentation on replacement is poor in the instructions. The triggers work faultlessly. Set at 1lb from the factory, they are safe and drop at light finger pressure. I plan to up my hunting guns to 2 lbs and the varmint guns to 1-1/2 lbs. The Sendero stocks fit like a charm but the SPS stock needs some inletting for the safety to work w/o binding. If you want to change your trigger--get a Jewell trigger--you will not be sorry--a few $$$ extra but it is money well spent--no problems is worth how much?? At 1 lb you feel for the trigger-touch it- begin to add pressure-and bang-it goes off. THIS IS THE BEST REPLACEMENT TRIGGER FOR REM AVAILABLE-BAR NONE. From my documentation I see that left handed options are available. If so, I will replace the trigger on my LT HD 700 with a Jewell trigger and toss the Timney trigger.

I just bought a Remington Model 700 R5 mil spec (.308). I have been using this gun to shoot fairly long range 300-500yrds. The first thing to go was the stock Rem trigger. Let me say that this is by far the best trigger I have ever owned. Just by installing the trigger myself, in about 15min, (no gunsmithing experience) my groups have shrunk from 3" to 1.75" at 300yrds, Are you KIDDING?? For just $225 WELL WORTH THE MONEY!! This trigger feels like you could run over it with a tank and be ok, Very Well Made!! A+++

This is without a doubt, the best trigger available on the planet!! PERIOD!!! All others pale in comparison. It does exactly what is advertised and then some. It has absolutely no creep or over travel out of the box, and it can adjusted to be better. It breaks like glass and all adjustments are easily set. It even looks good on the rifle. I've bought a few now, and it is the trigger of choice now also!!!

A work of art, plain and simple. Bought a Jewell for my AR-15 a couple years ago and after the experience with that trigger, Jewell was the only choice for me. Works beautifully. The only problem was the installation with my stock. I have a Hogue Overmold with full aluminum bedding block and it required me to mill away some of the aluminum and bit of the floor. The safety would not operate in the original state of the stock, but after a little time with the Dremel, I am extremely pleased with results. I would INSIST that anyone wanting the best trigger, buy a Jewell. For those wanting to use this trigger and the Hogue stock, it will require you to grind the front end of the trigger pocket on the right hand side of the gun. I removed the edge between the narrow and wide sections of the pocket so that the wide section angles right into the round of the front of the pocket. (if you draw a line from the farthest point forward of the wide section to the edge of round at the front of the pocket, that is the material to be removed) I followed the pocket's contour all the way down leaving about 3/16ths of an inch of the floor, by the trigger opening. You could probably remove the material all the way through, as the trigger guard will cover it. I assume the pillar bedded model will require the same inletting. I hope my instructions make sense for those wanting to follow them.

Very much impressed with the performance of this trigger. Easy to assemble. Found no need for the other two extra springs that adjust pull weight. The one that comes installed is perfect from 1/2 to 3 pounds is plenty of range. Anything less would be a little scary. The only reason I gave this trigger a 4 out of 5 is the the bolt release sticks and requires a little manipulation and the bolt seems to flop around once the action is fired (just a little). Other than that a fine trigger much improved over the factory.
