The bullet performs extremely well when loaded for .30-06 and .308 win. in both bolt action and semi-auto with ball powder. Excellent accuracy at 100 yards.

I shoot these in a Savage model 10 tactical with a very light load of 748 with fantastic groups. Half inch or smaller @ 100 yards. Great bullet at a great price.

Talk about consistency, I love those bullets. 5 shots after 5 shots groups everytime .5" @ 100 yrds or less. Those bullets loaded with 41.5gr of IMR4064 in my Winchester M-70 Stealth .308 is now my standard accurate load. I also tried the Sierra MK 168gr HPBT, but I found the Nosler to be more accurate, consistent, and cheaper. If you're looking for accuracy and consistency give those bullets a try.

I have found THE bullet! My favorite two rifles love this bullet. I believe it has to do with the contour of the ogive, because the Nosler Accubonds also do very well. I tried them today in a factory Remington 700 BDL with a 24" heavy bull barrel chambered in .308 Win and in my Remington 700 Sendero chambered in .300 Ultra Mag. I shot from a 'shooting roll' I made from a towel rolled up and taped - NOT from a mechanical rest (to simulate shooting from my pack in the field). At 200 yards (Yes! 200!) my .300 Ultra Mag shot a 3 shot group that measured .683" CTC - my .308 Win's group measured only .379" CTC! The .300 Ultra's load was H1000 and a Federal 215 Magnum primer in Remington brass. The .308 Win load was Varget and a Federal 210 Large Rifle primer in Lake City Match brass. All were loaded to standard overall length so they could be magazine fed. I believe this bullet has much more use than just as a match bullet. With it's sectional density, I believe it will work very well on varmints and deer sized, light skinned animals. I pushed it out at 2750 FPS in my .308 Win and 3450 FPS in my Ultra Mag! For heavier game, definitely use Noslers Accubonds. I highly recommend deburring / beveling your flash holes and trimming / chamfering your necks. Redding makes a great manual neck trimmer that is very easy to use.

Ooooh yeah! I bought an old Korean era Springfield M1 to rebuild. Put one of Midway's excellent Criterion barrels on it (another product you ought to check out), a set of Wolff springs, a set of NM sights and a Boyd's stock set. That was it. Loaded up the 168 grain Nosler J4s on a dribbled charge of WW748 (best case fill possible with a powder of acceptable burn rate for this rifle; don't go any slower or you'll bend the op rod) and dropped all eight shots from the first clip in a one inch hole at 100 yards; no break in, nothing. My buddy's jaw dropped like a rock looking through the spotting scope. The only problem I had with this bullet was that the recoil was a bit excessive in my M1, what with the metal butt plate and all. I may drop back to the 150 grain J4s for my next experiment as they are legal for competition and likely to be a little easier on me. Either way you cut it though, this is an outstanding projectile. I will buy more of them.

I tried the Nosler J-4 in the 155-grain wieght last spring. I discovered that the 100 ct box had a wieght variance of + or - 2 tenths of a grain much more consistant than the Sierra 155 grain Match King I had been using at about two dollars less a box than the Sierras. I also switched to the 168 grain J-4 to replace the Sierra 168 gr. With a more consistant wieght I found greater accuracy from my Springfield M1A. Great product I will recommend this bullet to any M1A shooter.

Excellent bullet. I used it to win a 100/200y match on Saturday 20th October. Rifle used was a Remington 700VS in .308 Win with 57 rounds down the barrel at the start of the competition, Leupold 3.5-10x40 M3. Load was a Nosler 168gr BTHP, Varget, virgin IMI Match brass, Winchester LR primer with a MV of 2,670 fps. All of the groups were under well under 1/2 MOA with two of the 200 yard groups pulling in sub-1/8 MOA. All groups were for 3 shots against A-7/5 (100y) and A-23 (200y) targets. Had twice as many X's as second and third place winners. Will buy many, many more.

Nosler J4 bullets have,in my testing, been nothing short of incredible. I highly recommend this bullet for for the 308W. If your rifle likes this particular weight I would recommend you give these bullets a try. They represent a great value for high volume shooters who enjoy accuracy, a high BC, and consistancy. These are now the only match bullets in this weight I now load in my rifles.

I use this product and will be getting it here from now on since my local retailer went out of business. I like the boxes of 250. I fire it from a Savage Model 10 Law Enforcement package 2 (short barrel - 20 in.). I used a faster powder because of the shorter barrel. I fired a 1/2 MOA group at the 100 and 200 yd. line at Knob Creek KY this past weekend. I also reloaded Hornady A-Max with this same powder and shot a 1/2 MOA group CTC and my hand load was less than 1 inch grouped off of Hornady 168 gr. A-Max factory loads. I also fired Hornady Match 168 gr. BTHP, and Federal Gold Match SMK 168 gr. which both grouped the same. As far as I can tell, this bullet with my round and my rifle is equally accurate as SMK and Hornady. Next I’m going to try it over H-Varget and I'm going to try the 155 gr. weight in Sierra Palma and Nosler 155 gr.

Excellent match bullets. I'm shooting these through a 20" Remington 700 tactical rifle. I'm getting consistent 1/2 MOA groups @ 100 yards. These are match bullets, and as such I wouldn't recommend them for hunting, but for those of us who reload and want a consistent bullet for competition or target work at longer range you can't beat these.

For those who say a 168 wont shoot past 600 yards ought to see those clay pigeons break at 1200 . I charge of Varget and Federal match primers and it off to the races .

The weight consistency for my lot of Nosler Custom bullets was nothing short of amazing. Mean weight of 168.3, sd of about .07 gr; about 95 of the 100 were within 168.2-168.4gr. Neither Hornady Match nor Sierra MK were anywhere near as consistent in their weights. And considering the price, it's in my opinion the best match 168 grainer out there. Caveat: I haven't tried Berger yet.

Compared weight & variation in three 168 grain premium bullets--PRVI #PPB30HP168 HPBT, Hornady #305502 A-Max, & Nosler #53168 HPBT. Took a random sample of each and weighed them on my RCBS Model 5-0-5 scale. PRVI sample averaged 167.3g plus or minus 0.55g; max = 167.8g & min = 166.7g. No sample weighed 168g. Hornady's were a bit better. Sample averaged 168.33g plus or minus 0.35g; max = 168.6g & min = 167.9g. Nosler's beat the other two hands down. Sample averaged 167.95g plus or minus .050g; max = 168g & min = 167.9g. The variation in the Nosler's was literally too close to accurately weigh on my scales. Was out of Sierra, Speer, and Barnes but I'll weigh 10 of the next box of each that I buy. Now if I could just figure a logical reason for the Hornady's grouping better in my son's Rem 700 SPS Varmint 300 Winchester Short Magnum and his Savage 10FP 308 Winchester. Haven't worked with the PRVI's long enough to really evaluate their accuracy potential.

This is an accurate bullet, not quite as good as the Sierra version of the same weight, but very close. I use this bullet in two Remington 700 heavy barreled rifles and the difference at 100 yds for three shots groups between the Nosler and the Sierra is approx. 1/8". I buy the 250 count boxes and save more money so I can practice more. Try the Noslers' in your own loads and rifle(s) as they may shoot better in it than the other brand bullets as compared to my guns.

Outstanding bullet! I have a custom Mauser 98 with a heavy Adams and Bennett barrel that has a 1:10 twist chambered for the Winchester .308 cartridge. The Nosler bullet weights are very consistent and accuracy is superb using 44 grains of Accurate 2520 powder. With my tired eyes, I have consistently shot less than 1/2 MOA up to 200 yards and on a good day can put 5 shots into a dime sized hole at 100 yards. The bullet has an excellent ballistic coefficient and the boat tail also makes it easy to load. I've tried others, but nothing does it like this Nosler.

An outstanding bullet for my Rem 308. Have obtained excellent groups (1/2") with 2-3 different powders. Works very well at shorter ranges to 200 yds. For 250+ yds, I shoot tighter groups with Sierra 175gr.MK bullets, however. Update post 1/31/2009: These are great bullets for most of us "informal" target shooters. They shoot very well (1/2" or less) in my Rem.700 PSS 308 using RL15, Varget,748, H4895, and a couple of others. As mentioned in my previous post, these shoot well to 250 yds or so. For longer ranges (250-500+) a 175 gr. like Sierra MK will shoot tighter groups for me. Good cost-effective bullet. If you are a comp. shooter, I'm sure there are better (more expensive, too) bullets that may do a better job.

I'm impressed. I shot ten 3 shot groups at 200 yards in a 10-15mph cross gusts. In an unmodified standard weight Howa 1500 .308 win "deer gun" I had my first group measure in at 3/4" with the remaining groups coming in no larger than 2" with XMR 4064/mil cases & Lee tools at 2700fps avg. I'm new to reloading and this is *great* to see out of a rifle that has seen several hundred rounds of surplus that has never grouped any better than 4-6" at 100yds.

I tried these because the price of Sierras is getting ridiculous. After trying many different loads I gave up. These shoot well but their not Sierras. These Noslers grouped around 1in at 100yrds in my tactical Savage. 168 Sierras stay around 1.5in at 300yrds with same rifle. The Noslers do look nice and did weigh more consistently than the Sierras but I think my Savage likes the longer more streamline bullets. The rest of these will be loaded for my M1A.

OK bullet at best for the price. Weight is pretty constant, but that's about it. Tried using in my .308 and 30-06 dies (Lee deluxe, RCBS X-dies for both) but could not get any consistent seating depth. In both calibers and die sets, the best consistency I could get was ±.01inch. Accuracy on the 30-06 was marginal with average groups at 100 of .75 - 1in. This isn't too good considering the max velocity spread through the Chrony was 9fps. Group sizes with Sierra MK and Hornady 168gr Match bullets were .5MOA or less. If price is your primary, you don't mind tweaking every cartridge to the correct Overall Length, and average performance, these will be OK. I will stick with the Hornady Match bullets for the best price and performance combo. NOTE: The Nosler Ballistic Tips work fine in both sets of dies and maintain ±.002inch COAL consistently.
