This is a GREAT scope for the money. The optics are clear; no distortion at the eges. The reticle is crisp, and the power ring rotates smoothly. I like the rubber coated eye-piece at the rear. The scope is very light and compact; the black, matte finish has a nice texture, and appears resistant to nicks and scratchs. I think the gold-plated adjustment dials are a nice touch, as well as the plastic inserts that make adjustment easy. Adjustment caps are generously sized, and screw into place smoothly--no "gritty" feel. This isn't a great scope "for the price", it's a great scope period.

As promised I'm updating my review based on the latest field test. With the Ruger Mini-14 mount securely locked down, and all ring screws "lock-tighted", I posted a group size of under 2" at 100 yards. The scope still requires substantial left windage adjustment, but careful examination of the mounting angle (azimuth), reveals the scope is just a "hair" angled to the right...not the scope's fault. The Mini-14 has been accurized by relieving the forward portion of the slide to eliminate pressure against the gas block assy, thus eliminating a MAJOR cause of inaccuracy in that type rifle. The scope's clarity was excellent, and POI did not shift with power variation from 3 up to 9 power.

Great scope especially for the money. Clear and doesn't weigh the rifle down. Great for hunting.

This is a great scope! Not just for the money, but great...period. I have used other more expensive scopes, and I would rather use this scope. I don't know why Simmons decided to discontinue this model, but I am going to buy 2 or 3 to stock up on them. Great durability, and excellent image from all magnifications. good eye relief and great field of view.

I beat this scope to-death on a Browning BAR .338 Magnum. I could not get it to shift from "zero." The bonus: this is a nice, clean-looking scope and should accent any rifle. It's a keeper although I didn't expect it for the price.

This scope was given to me by a neighbor. He bought a 7mm rifle and the scope came on it. He put a Nikon on his 7mm and had the SImmons laying around. I recieved a Marlin 1894 in .44 mag for Christmas. My friend invited me hunting and lent me the scope. I mounted it on some $11 kwik set aluminum high rise mounts (that was the only mounts I could find to fit a Marlin 2 days before we were going hunting) We sighted it in at 50 then 100 yards. I put a box of .44 spl (50 rnds) then a box of .44 mag (20 rnds) through it. It held zero. The day we hunted, it was 25 degrees and misty. It never fogged up. I've been back to the range 2 times since then and shot at 50 yards and it is still on the mark. Best free scope I ever got.

I have one now and I'm thinking on buying another one. Excellent scopes for small caliber rifles such as 243, 25-06, 6mm, 22 magnum and 30-30.

This scope is blurry and not very bright. It also tracks poorly. The only reason I rate it 2 stars is because it holds zero like nobody's business. If not for its ability to hold zero, this scope would have been thown in the trash and been given a negative 2 star rating.

Scope is not very clear, especially when a side by side comparison is done with a Bushnell 3200 or 4200 series. Adjustments are positive and consistent; unfortunately this scope is not durable. I purchased one mounted on my Savage .270 (weighs 6.5 pounds without glass). When I took it to the range I was able to fire three very nice (1.5") 5 round groups while shooting factory Remington ammunition. After zeroing Round 16 and 17 (group 4) measured .110, round 18 turned it into a 2.7" group, round 19 turned into a 5" 4 shot group AT 100 YARDS. Suspecting I was flinching I immediately grabbed my 30-06 and pumped out a .75" group, swapped the scopes, and now the .270 (with the Bushnell) will consistently fire 1 MOA five shot groups, and the 30-06 (with the Simmons) is capable of consistent 4" groups... I would not hesitate to put this scope on a .22 or other rimfire, but do not expect it to withstand any amount of abuse...

Had it for 3 years, carried on 6 hunts. The seventh day it fogged, and is now useless. Don't waste your money.
