I've used this sight for a number of years on a 5-1/2 in. Ruger Blackhawk. I try to shoot 50-100 rds. twice a month all year and it's all I use for deer hunting (12 bucks, 4 does & 1 North Dakota buffalo) I haven't had any problems with this sight. If I did, it would be gone long ago. Battery life seems to be good also, I put in a new one at the beginning of each hunting season and it wears out in early spring. Then a new one lasts till the next hunting season and I start over again. When I bought it, I took it to my gunsmith and he mounted it securely with a modified commercial mount and I haven't taken it off the gun since. I did change sight adjustment once last Dec. for that buffalo hunt because of the heavy bullets but I turned it back after that hunt and it's right on again. I think I bought this sight in '93 or '94 and I believe I paid more for it then, than it sells for today. But it has taken the recoil of thousands of .44 mag. and it's still going. I’ve never dropped it but I have been caught in the rain several times without any apparent damage, not that I can tell. I think you would be more than satisfied, I’m sure you’ll like it. I'm going to order one for my rabbit gun [mod. 14s&w in .38] having a hard time with irons these last couple of years.

This scope is rugged, offers clear picture, easy to see the red dot on bright days, and holds a zero. The claim "built to last" is correct. I accidently dropped by 44 Redhawk in a water puddle. Thinking my hunt was over when I picked it up, the scope still worked! Minutes later, I tagged a nice sized hog. Excellent product.

I've had this scope on my 44 mag for years. It's held zero, never fogged or broke after 100s of rounds. I had an Aimpoint on the pistol before the Tasco, it lasted about 50 bullets and stoped working. What more can I say?

I have 3 of these red dots and I have had no problems at all out of them. They hold there zero and don't fog up. This is one of the best red dots I have purchased in a long time. That's why I own 3 of them.

Although I've had a few bad experiences with Tasco/BSA optics, I bought a PDP2 for Ruger Mk II based on a handful of good reviews. That one worked out well, so I bought two more. The one that I've used the most is mounted on a Glock 17 race gun. Despite being pelted with brass enough that some of the finish has worn off the bottom, is still holds a zero pretty well, as long as the mount and ring screws are kept torqued. The dot is still a bit small. Reasonably good for accuracy, bad for speed. A bigger dot would be better for action shooting, but it’s still faster than trying to line up the front sight, rear sight, and target. A 8MOA dot would be better for action shooting. Brightness settings are good on this scope. I’ve used it in dark indoor pistol ranges, and outside in bright sunlight, without any problems. I had a little trouble with the dot fading away at random times. I accidentally pulled the spring out of the battery compartment cap trying to stretch it out. It still works, and I haven’t had the dot disappear since. The sight uses 2 357-type batteries, commonly used in lasers and digital calipers. The batteries are available in Wal-Mart stores in 3-packs at a reasonable price, as well as in most drug stores. Although I haven’t kept track of battery life, they will last a dozen or so hours, at least. With the included sunshade screwed in, the scope can be mounted with a single wide ring, like an Aimpoint. As an added benefit, the sunshade helps keep powder fouling, thrown up and back, off of the objective lens, when mounted on a compensated or ported pistol.

This is a great scope for the money and I own two; mounted on a .22 pistol and 12 GA 870. They hold zero, have good battery life, and are trim packages for mounting. I have ordered a third in camo for my new Mossberg 835 Ultra. The only negative are the low-end rings. The cross bolt of one on the 870 snapped and I had to replace. Great scope but use other rings on heavy recoil firearms.

I promised an update after receiving this product and no dot could be found. I returned it for repair and now have it in hand and installed on a 14" bull barrel 30-30 TC Contender. I checked it out and the red dot works better than I could ever imagine. From inside the home to against sun lit snow banks. I did have to remove the front sight (not the base) & removed the red dot from the Weaver base which I highly recommend, before driving it out. As soon as this last snowstorm dries up and the wind dies down I will check it on the range. It was so close when using an old Bushnell bore sighter that it was a question as to whether to move it a click or two or just leave the adjustment caps on. I am pleased with Bushnell's service, they bought out Tasco.

It appears that the owner's manual is incorrect. It says that this model comes with a single CR2032 battery which should be installed "+" side up. Mine came with a pair of LR44 batteries, which must be installed "+" side down. My older PDP2 (purchased used) came with a different battery, but the orientation was also "+" side down.

Ordered from Midway and received excellent service as always. Removed rear sight from 30-30 Super 14 for a TC Contender and installed a Weaver base in its place. Prior to mounting the Red Dot sight I installed the batteries furnished and believe they should change the name to "no dot". I am returning to Tasco for either repair or replacement under their one year warranty. I question if the dot adjustment is ok also, there are several clicks, but I believe there are supposed to be eleven positions. If the problem is corrected I will update this post after field testing at the range. Chances are it will be much better.

My Tasco red dot was dead on arrival, no red dot. But that wasn't the worst- the Tasco warranty is only one year and it requires not only that you pay shipping back to Tasco, but that you send them $10.00 too. So you pay a total of around $17.00 just to take a chance that your defective device will be correctly repaired.
