This product removes copper fouling from rifle barrels like no other and I've tried them all! I still do use powder solvent and brush (I'm using Butch's now) but after a day of shooting Barnes Triple Shock bullets, nothing gets copper out like Wipe-Out. And as a note, I also have a S&W 629 that I use Wipe-Out with several times and also store loaded and I have not experienced any discoloration of my brass like the other gentleman. I patched the bore clean and did not use any other cleaners or lubes, as recommended by the manufacturer.

Best product EVER for really nasty bores. Used it on a 90 yr old Mauser. Two applications and what looked like a worn-out bore was pristine. Friend used it on a really worn Enfield -- same thing. Thought at first it was overpriced...WRONG! Does twice the work of any cleaner I've used and with much less work. For really bad bores, just spray it in and leave it overnight. Gets copper and everything else. I give it 5 stars because they don't have a choice for 10!

This stuff is great, squirt it in, the foam stays in place, wait 30 minutes, push it out with a patch, and you are done. Sure beats pushing a rod through every single gun, every time you shoot.

Used this on a CMP, Greek issue, H&R M1 Garand - 70 year-old rifle - not one I want ruined by a harsh chemical cleaner. Wipe-Out was the answer. Got ALL of the copper out of the bore with no harm to the parkerizing, nor the bore or chamber. The stuff expands a LOT (like exapnding foam insulation), so a little goes a long way! It even expanded out onto the wooden stock and caused no harm to the old finish. Great stuff: extremely easy to use, no harsh odor, and caused no harm to a valuable, old firearm.

Absolutely the best copper cleaner out there. I have a rifle chambered in 338 Lapua Magnum that I tried at least 6 different conventional cleaning solvents. I have access to a bore-o-scope and found that there was significant copper fouling after a tremendous amount of scrubbing. After soaking all night and wiping out the barrel the bore no longer had any copper fouling.

If you've never seen a patch come out of a gun white before, you will after cleaning with this stuff. I got my 100+ year old 30-40 Krag totally clean with this product. I recommend using the accelerator liquid also.

This stuff is the best for copper fouling. Have to leave it in the bore for an hour (may need to leave it in longer for the first time if there is significant build up), but then the copper just swaps out with a patch, no brushing. Safer than ammonia based solvents. Try it. The manufacturer has a money back guarantee, but you won't use it.

I agree with all of the other reviews of this product with one caveat: Brush with a powder solvent followed by Sweet's or equivalent first. Make your last step an application of Wipe-Out. Using this sequence you will notice that it will remove an astonishing amount of loosened gunk without a brush. This product works as advertised, but, like it or don't, there's no substitute for elbow grease, and as far as accuracy is concerned, cleanliness is next to Godliness.

Especially effective on older rifles that have copper fouling in a pitted bore.

It has taken time and repeated applications for rifles with anywhere from 30 - 70 years of neglect, but I just put a rifle in the rest and leve it sit for 24 hours at a time. Saves a lot of scrubbing.

This stuff does an amazing job on copper fouling, assuming you give it enough time to work properly. I generally let it sit overnight for best results. As the directions admit, it doesn't do much for lead fouling. On a badly fouled cowboy Marlin, I followed up the Wipe-Out with a brush and MP-7. the lead came out very easily, suggesting that the carbon underneath was cleared by the Wipe-Out. As others suggested, a light oiling of the bore is always a good idea after cleaning.

This stuff is surprisingly effective. It removed many layers of copper fouling from an old Tokarev SVT rifle of mine. It does not remove powder fouling, or lead fouling, though. I run Kroil soaked patches through the bore first, to get out any powder or lead. Then, I fill the bore with Wipe Out, and let it sit several hours. Dry patch, oil the bore, and I'm done. Very effective for extreme cases of copper fouling, though the liquid version of Wipe Out may last you longer. Important note: do NOT get this stuff on wood finishes. It will strip the finish off.

Like most the others I've found great results with this stuff! Especially for 17cal rifles and levers or auto loaders you can't get to the chamber on. 17cal I spray it in run the rod down and its done! No worries about banging the throat with brushes etc. Accuracy is staying great, I carry it to the poodle dog pasture and spray and wait 15-20 minutes while shooting another rifle and no problems with copper build up during the hunt, same at extended range shooting. Also works great in savage 99 levers with out being concerned about banging the crown up. It's a little messy, puch the button less than you think you will need until you get the feel of the amount of product that comes out. Then wait and patch it out. I follow up with a patch with rem oil or clp then a dry one and dry out the chamber. almost takes less time than typing this review.

This is hands-down the easiest, most effective cleaning system available for rifle shooters. I have tried just about every method, and this is the only product that removes absolutely every trace of fowling including powder and copper. My 270WSM is a bit of a "problem child" when it comes to copper fowling, but Wipe-out gets it all and leaves the bore mirror-bright! I have not had any trouble with damage to stock finishes or bluing. I do recommend lubing the bore after cleaning, however. THE BEST BORE CLEANER AVAILABLE.

The residue will eat into your brass cases. I just had to punch a 45 Colt round out of a Judge cylinder because the residue had eaten into the case. This stuff dissolves brass! Just make sure to get all of it out! I think I will use some Hoppes #9 behind this product.

I've used this stuff until patches came out perfectly clean and then followed that up with SC and a brush and there's still considerable black gunk that comes out of the bore. There's just no substitute for a scrubbing with a brush and good powder solvent. But for copper fouling, I like Wipe-Out more than any other solvent I've used including Sweets and Barnes CR-10.

The only downside is that you have to leave Wipe-Out sitting in the bore for a while (at least an hour). But it removed 3000 rounds of copper buildup in a USP barrel and almost 4000 rounds of copper buildup in a M1911 barrel! I just used a couple of cleaning patches wrapped around the brush and I was finished. Unlike so many other copper removing/bore cleaners, this one doesn't stink!

I agree with the other reviews, and especially about the useless nozzle. At least 90% of the foam winds up outside the bore. My solution was to buy a can of Outers or Gunslick foaming cleaner, pry the plastic cap & nozzle assembly off, and re-use it on the WipeOut can. The applicator tube seals easily into the chamber and 100% of the foam stays in the bore. Otherwise a great product - just keep it out of the receiver and off the stock.

This product is great for copper removal. Let it sit for a least an hour and the blue run out. Run a patch through to get the rest. This is the easiest method I’ve tried for copper however not for powder/carbon removal. I still had to clean with a powder solvent to get the bore clean. There was still a considerable amount of powder in the bore. This is not a one product cleans all. Further, the nozzle provided is a pain. Foam sprays all over the place and is wasted. I tried Jack Pollock’s nozzle switch from another review and it worked perfectly. However, this would require the purchase of the Gunslick foam product, which defeats the purpose of buying this product. The Gunslick foaming bore cleaner removes copper just as well, has a better nozzle and costs less. Buy it instead!

This is a pretty good product for in between thorough cleanings, but does not eliminate brushing altogether. We soaked several bores for 24 hours, and we did this two to three times. All of the patches came out real clean after the first two cleanings. Then we used a powder/copper solvent and brushed the bores. You would not believe how much stuff came out of those barrels. Especially powder, all of the patches were saturated with powder fouling. Try this experiment so you know exactly what to expect with this product.

Could still see light traces and to use a bronze brush with Kroils after trying a nylon brush. To be fair I cleaned my guns at the range cleaning each barrel three times with Wipe out for about 10 - 15 minutes each time. Product might work better if left in a few hours or overnight. I bought this product because I wanted somthing quick easy whch this product is not. You will need other cleaners if you want to be finished cleaning three guns One hour. Also you will need somthing to clean the rest of the gun besides the barrel.

Product worked great for cleaning barrels, however the 2 star rating is because of the "will not cause corrosion to carbon steel" and "Wipe-Out contains corrosion inhibitors" statements that are one the label. I used product on my dirtiest barrel (thank goodness it was not one of my finer guns) and it cleaned it real good, but since I didn't have any of my gun oil (Rem-Oil), I made sure to patch the barrel dry after cleaning and used Hoppes #9 for follow up cleaning and as a protective (semi-wet) coating for rust prevention. This was Sunday night and I was scheduled to go to the range on the following Saturday. Started loading/checking equipment for the range on Thursday (4 days later) and noticed that the barrel I had used Wipe-Out on there was rust on all of the lands of the rifling. I dont know if it was a reaction with the Hoppes or whatever but I was not happy. I have stored guns for months with Hoppes #9 and have never had rust occur on my barrels. SO...make sure you have corrosion protection AFTER using the Wipe-Out and don't be misled by the "corrosion inhibitors" statement.

I tried it with and without accelerator on a 54 year old Mauser and an M1 with chrome lined 7.62 bore. This did not touch the carbon and barely removed a small amount of copper from the Mauser. It did nothing for the copper in the Me and turned the chrome lined bore black - there should be a warning. I went back to Hoppes copper remover to do the job right. Wipe Out did eat the finish off a Husqavarna but still scored a zero in the cleaning department.

The copper removal appears to be good, but not remarkable. The low rating is due to the messy application and stock finish damage. The foam goes just about everywhere except in the barrel. The applicator leaks more foam than you get in the barrel. Even the cheap stuff at Wal-Mart comes with a good applicator tube. There is a note on the bottle that it is safe for "modern" stock finishes. They should just say that it will damage oil finishes. I was lucky that I used it on an old Enfield before using it on a gun with a fine hand rubbed oil finish. If I use it again, I will certainly remove all of the wood first. With a better method of application and a better statement about stock finishes, it would be a good product.

I keep my pistols loaded. One was loaded with factory shells, and the other with reloads. After 3 days, I was checking on one of the pistols, and noticed the shells were bloched heavily black. I realised Wipe-Out was eating/reacting with the brass. I then cleaned them (bores and cylinders)with Barnes CR-10 and a nylon brush, then washed the pistols in isopropl alcohol and blew them with compressed air. I then oiled them in and out with outters oil. Much to my amazement they both turned shell casings black again. Obviously this Wipe-out is hard to get rid of. I called the company, and they were convinced I was a complete idiot. They refused to give me a refund even though I have a reciept and the unused portion (and after saying their product was guaranteed). I only asked they pay the shipping back. The company owner told me to return it to the store and have them call him.

At first I loved the way wipe out cleaned my barrels. Then I noticed the rust-corrosion it caused in my rifles. Also all of the rifles I used this on lost a considerable amount of their accuracy and point of zero.
