This drop-in upper will attach to virtually any standard AR-15 lower assembly. Comes complete with charging handle, bolt, bolt carrier assembly and Miculek compensator. The Miculek compensator greatly reduces muzzle jump and recoil and is installed to meet Post Ban requirements. The closed bottom eliminates dust print when shooting prone. The AP4 upper is an A3 Flattop with a light contour barrel. This upper features GlacierGuard handguards which are an AP4 style handguard that utilize 15 internal fins, rather than the standard aluminum double-shield, for heat dispersion. These unique fins, while dispersing the heat generated by rifle fire, also provide unsurpassed strength and rigidity for the handguard. Externally, the AP4 "GlacierGuards?" feature 15 ribs that mirror the internal fins, and provide the shooter an enhanced grip.


AR-15 Hammer and Trigger Pin Dimensions:

  • Some Colt® AR type rifles have been manufactured with hammer and trigger pins and holes which are approximately .176" in diameter. These are referred to as "large pin" Colts. This was done to eliminate the chances of someone putting M16 fire control parts into an AR receiver. This is not found in all Colt models, just some.
  • All other AR type rifle manufacturers have stayed with the .156" diameter hammer and trigger pins and holes, or "small pin" which is the same spec used in all military M16 rifles.
  • Measure your pins or the holes in your lower receiver to determine if you have a "small" or "large" hole Colt® AR

    Excellent value for the money, good looking and well made. Miculek brake is LOUD but does the job, the barrel stays right on target. The headspace on this barrel is tight so you may experience ammo problems. This is not a chrome-lined barrel.

    Very pleased. good fit on rock river lower. After careful break in 52 grain Hollow Point Boat Tail shot consistently under 1moa with 3 and 4 shot clusters in .3 and .2 seems to shoot as well as my heavy. stainless match barrel.

    This upper from DPMS is absolutely 1st class. I have had it now for 5 weeks and put 1200 rounds through it with zero problems. The fit, finish, tolerances and quality of the bolt and carrier are incredible. The compensator works great and I estimate 50% less muzzle rise than my Colt 20 inch Hbar, which this 16inch assembly replaced. I could not be happier with my purchase and thus the 2 month backorder wait was worth it. If you purchase this upper you will not be disappointed and I am a DPMS fan now. Mine shot a 1 1/2 MOA at 50 yards which for 3 gun tactical shooting events is a winner. I cleaned the bore as DPMS recommends after each round for 25 rounds and then once after 5 rounds for 25 rounds, then let it rip, the groups improved. Enjoy.
