For use in conjunction with the Hornady Case Activated Powder Drop, the Quick Change Powder Die and Powder Through Expanders make reloading on your Lock-N-Load faster and easier. The Quick Change die comes with a lower bracket with guide bushing and lock ring. Expanders are available (sold separately) in .355, .357, .400, .430, .451/.452, .475 and .500 diameter for both lead cast bullets and copper plated bullets. The Expanders allow you to charge the case while expanding the case mouth (Hornady suggest you fill that station with the powder cop die so you can ensure that each case is properly charged with powder. The Powder Cop die is sold separately).

This one works fairly well in both .38 Spl and .357 mag. Why can't the 9mm work in 9mm?

Works well enough. I use it on the LNL AP press, and it dented 3 out of 150 cases on the first run; that was caused by the powder measure LNL bushing moving, as they aren't as stable as I would like for the torque the case-activated dump creates. On the plus side, it eliminates powder spillage and makes a much more tidy powder charge than before. However, note that the only belling force is that create by the downward weight of the powder measure, which is minimal unless you're willing to put some serious, un-engineered-for stress on your powder measure as it bottoms out. I'd say get it just to limit powder spillage, but don't expect it to replace your mouth-belling operation.

I purchased this expander for 9mm based on the reviews of the .355 9mm expander. This expander (.357) was very difficult to setup and required adjustment of the case activated assembly to keep the die from bottoming out on the shellplate. I think I will try the .355 expander for 9mm as the .451 expander for 45ACP worked perfectly. No brass shavings like when I use the Lee expanders.
