Using this with a hand drill I was able to cut and deburr at a rate of about 150 casings per hour my first time. The setup makes it almost impossible to screw up, and the only negative I can think of is the grip of the pocket tool could be comfortable - then again, that is what the ball grip version is for.

A wonderful mix of pure simplicity and functionality. For under $10.00 Lee gives you everything you need to effectively trim cases, and the whole set-up fits in the palm of your hand! Because the pilot is threaded on the cutter, and the pilot extends through the entire length of the case, and references on the case mouth and flash hole, the cutter has no choice but to rotate in alignment with the axis of the case. I use a Dremel tool to custom-grind the hardened steel pin at the end of the pilot to set the exact case length I want, and I never need to worry about the tool going out of adjustment. Truly a utilitarian, minimalist, cheapskate's dream!

Simply the Best. I have used many different styles of trimmers and most of my time is spent setting them up and measuring and rechecking not this one. I went through my old cases that were done on other tools none were as consistant as this tool. they were consistant sesion to sesion but the lee tool showed that My measurements were not. This tool is perfect in its simplicity and consistancy. It eliminates human error and set up time.

Works GREAT. I just trim every case after I tumble and size them. Takes it to the exact measurement every time. I just stick a drill in a vice upside down and I can trim and debur a case in about 4 seconds.

Kudos to Lee on this product. This is the first case trimmer I purchased and am totally satisfied with it - so I wont be switching. I modified an old sewing machine to accept the case holder and it works like a champ - even gives me the ability to have a foot pedal for starting and stopping the motor. I really like it because it's easier to set up and I trust it better than settimg up individual measurements. Once again, a great simple product !

I have used all kinds of case trimmers over the years and I am convinced of one thing, you can't beat Lee's case trimming system. Why waste your time sitting around measuring cases picking out which ones need to be trimmed, then setting up your trimmer to trim to the right length, then start trimming, and then come along and debur all of your trimmed cases. Here is what I do, after resizing my cases I grab my drill, chuck in the lock stud, grab the correct case length gauge and cutter head, I trim the case and debur it before I take the case out of the lock stud. It takes about 3 seconds to trim and debur each case and it's all motorized! And instead of measuring each case to pick out the long ones I trim them all so all my cases are the same length each time I load them. Please don't waste your money on a more expensive system that is going to do nothing but slow you down and wear out your arms!

I have many 308nato cases to do and this beat anything I have ever hand cranked. I checked it in my 9.6v drill and let it whale, I did 250 cases in a heart beat and each case is the same length too. This used with the ball handled cutter is the cats meow in case trimming. The engineers at LEE sure came up with a winner on this one. Case Trimming can't get any better and easier than this LEE product. I ordered one case gauge and holder for every caliber I own. I look forward to trying more of LEE's awesome products in the future!!!

This is a great tool since it positively measures the case length and only trims cases that need to be trimmed. This tool is the only way to go if you have to trim brass for more than one caliber. The bad news is that Lee doesn't carry any 17 caliber case length gauges and won't custom make them for you. So I tried out the Hornady and Redding lathe type trimmers. They're both very sturdy and cool looking but are a PAIN to setup as you switch calibers plus both vendors seem to want to nickel and dime you to death for various accessories. Once setup, however, they do the job. I much prefer the Lee with a small drill attached, hands down the fastest way to trim cases and drop dead simple to use.

Used to use these for trimming before I got a lathe type tool. This is the best way to polish brass you have ever seen. Just match up the shell holder, one size does quite a few different shells, mount in a hand drill, use a little Brasso on a spare cloth and presto the cleanest shiny cases you have ever seen. One or two quick passes and you are done. A quick run with a clean cloth and man what a slick shiny case. My buddies want to know what my new secret tumbler media is!

Good durable product. I'm a newbie, but I can't imagine why I'd want to measure and trim in two different steps. Using this tool is a simple one step process. Plus you can use the lock nut and shellholder (not included) for other processes. The threads had some burrs, but working it with a little WD40 smoothed it out. I like it except I wish they would just include it with the ball grip to begin with.

Good inexpensive way to trim brass. I screwed the shell holder onto the lock nut until it bottomed out (or so I thought). The lock stud was way too loose thus drill method didn’t work. Holding it by hand was a chore. I had accidently bought 2, so I tried the other lock stud and found the first one didn’t allow me to screw the case holder further down to where the case was snug. Works like a charm now.

Like most Lee products it does not have "snob appeal" but works rather well and does not carry a prohibitive price tag. Even as a beginning reloader, I was able to hold all of my cases within 0.002 inches the first time I used it (manually without a drill press) but will likely improve to 0.001 as I develop my technique and "feel" for when the cutter bottoms out. As advertised, there is NO WAY to overtrim with this device using the shellholder and length gauge. It is important to make sure the shellholder lock nut is snug to prevent the case coming loose but even it does, it is no big deal, just retighten and carry on. If you are doing a bunch of cases at one time, a power drill is the way to go. Even so, using this trimmer by hand is not that unpleasant.

I use this product with a drill set up in a vise, so I can power trim several hundred rifle cases at a time. I put a large rubber band around the cutter handle so I can keep a grip on it and not wear out my skin. It is much faster and more accurate than the Forster style, with minimal setup time. It would be better if it had a universal snap it in type shell holder, but it works well in any case. It is very uniform and square with the case mouth.

Great product, but Lee should tell people the really good way to use it in the instructions. Take the cutter unit and chuck it into a drill press and then place a chunk of scrap 1/4" plate steal over the hole in the drill press bench. Put one of those cloth gloves with the rubberized palm on your left hand and hold a case under the drill press and then gently lower the cutter into the case with your right hand with the drill press on low/medium speed. Works like a charm and no frustration with the shell holder threaded thingy at the bottom that always comes loose or is mounted off center when you try to use a regular drill. You can easily trim a thousand or more cases straight out of the tumbler using this method. Learned about this on a reloading forum --- really wished someone had told me about it a lot sooner.

This is a very good tool, but I prefer Lee's Case Trimmer Cutter with Ball Grip. Unfortunately, unless you use the Lee Zip Trim tool, you'll still need to buy this combo just to get the lock stud. For these reasons, I'm deducting a star. The lock stud is a useful alternative to the Zip Trim tool, however, because the lock stud can be chucked up in a drill to spin the case, instead of spinning the cutter. I'm wearing a bandage on my index finger right now because I was careless when spinning the cutter. Spinning the case also enables cleaning and polishing in the same operation as trimming so I'm not planning to tumble my brass from now on. This is a faster way to clean brass.

This cutter work very well and I also use a drill to mount the cutter and length guage, that way I lock a case in, run the drill with the cutter and in just a few seconds it's done. One thing though, I HIGHLY recommend getting a seperate cutter for each caliber length guage. it doesn't take long for the threads on the length guage to wear out if you switch frequently.

This product works but the problem I had is that the case length gauge you purchase along with this cutter according to whatever caliber you purchase it for did not sit flush against the blades. I bought two cutters, one with the ball grip handle and one regular one just to get the lockstud and it does not sit flush in either of them. I do not know which set of threads are not straight, the ones in the cutters or the one on the case gauge. Maybe I just got a bad case gauge, I don't know but either way it results in the cutter only cutting one blade, the blade the case length gauge actually threads in deep in enough to touch. I can't thread it in any farther because it is touching that one blade and it leaves a tiny gap between the three other blades. I guess it still cuts though. Maybe I'll just take a wrench to it and tighten it very hard to see if I can't force it to set flush with sheer overtightening. And the other thing is it is hard to fit into the cases because of the crimp, you have deprime and expand, not just deprime.

Not fancy, not sophisticated, but like many Lee products it does the job very well at a low price. If you are going to trim hundreds of cases this may not be what you are looking for but if you are doing limited rifle shooting this is a very inexpensive way to go.

I like the product, however I think that Lee got it backwards a little. They should have a version of the cutter that fits into any normal 3/8th drill chuck. This would increase speed of processing since now you only set your speed on the drill once and don't have to stop it every time you switch to the next case. Simply use a 1/4 inch bit holder for the shell holder.

I bought one of these and the length gage and shellholder for a 30-06. The lock stud would not screw into the shell holder far enough to secure the 30-06 case. I tried 3 different head stamps/mfrs of military and 3 different commercial head stamps. I called Lee and they suggested trying a different shell holder and sent me one in the mail. When I got the new one I tried it, and it was even looser than the original one. I measured the distances from the bottom of the shellholders to the face of the lock stud and found the original to be .050" and the one they sent to be .085", a difference of .035". I think I'll just stick with my RCBS trimmer - I'm only out 9 bucks and some time.
