I'm new to reloading but I was amazed at how easy it is to get started. The instructions are clear and easy to read and the press itself is super easy to use and produces great ammo. Just be sure to take your time getting everything set up correctly and you will be very pleased. With the auto disk powder measurer set up I can really crank out great 45 acp shots. So far, I'm very happy with Lee products.

Very nice kit. 1)Make sure you get the riser for the autodisk it does not come with it.( it should ) 2)Also order the safety prime as it does not come with it. (it should ) 3)Instuctions could use work. 4)When mouting leave a space or hole for spent primers to fall out 5)The autodisk has only set powder weights, if you wish for loading adjustable weights get the Pro autodisk I like this press,it works, no major complaints. I would recommend this to anyone.

5 stars for the money. Buy the Lee Safety Primer kit for both large/small primers if your doing various calibers. Occasionally this doesn't line up with the auto index system but it's more than easy enough to line up with your finger. Easy to get rolling with. Also buy the micro adjustable charge bar because if you don't you'll end up stripping out the screws on the hopper. Get the riser for the hopper if your going to use the Safety Primer system, it's a cheap little unit but it works real good.

Wow, I got this press along with a few of the addons mentioned here by other commenters. I have to say that I really don't understand why anyone would buy anything else unless they just have money to burn. I reviewed all my options before buying this press and at first I shied away from Lee because the price just seemed too good to be true and I figured they can't possibly be quality stuff. After looking more closely though, the competition seems content to keep pumping out stuff designed 20+ years ago. Lee on the other hand does a lot of things (for instance the locking O-Rings on the die nuts so they can be adjusted quickly by hand) to make their equipment easy and full-featured. It's often the little details like that, that really don't cost but a few pennies and make a real difference and tell me Lee has their act together. Like others, I do get an occaisional lost primer on the floor, and initial adjustments are a bit fidgety, but attention to detail and concentration are all that's needed to get awesome results. I am now a huge Lee fan. As an engineer I look at the design and details of their equipment and the more I look, the more I'm convinced they are clever, creative and focused on value. The turret design is far superior because the load is distributed around the entire ring and can't tilt under pressure. Getting extra turrets lets you swap them out easily and leave the adjustments alone once set. Primer seating works well and gives a nice tradeoff between leverage and feel. Primer feed is extremely straight forward. I actually use it in manual mode so I can clean my breass after depriming and take it one step at a time. The biggest advantage of having a turret is keeping the dies all setup and swapping them out at will and considering I got a complete setup able to load 9mm, 357, 30 carbine and 30-30 Winchester for less than it would cost to get a press all by itself from the competition I'm convinced. Go Lee or go Poor!

After reading many reviews of various products and considering my own needs I settled on this press for my first reloading venture. I am very pleased how smoothly things have gone so far. Set up was easy, operation is easy and everything seems consistent. I read a lot of reviews that this or that did not function well, etc. Most of my concerns were answered by reading various forums before purchase. When the press arrived I already had an idea what to expect. The plastic parts are low quality in construction but their performance has been without issue. I load .40 and have made nearly 300 rounds in the month or so that I have had this and every round has fired without issue. I was expecting that the weakest area of the press would be the powder charge but the system that comes with this kit has been excellent. There are probably better systems but I really got more than I paid for at this point. The kit should have had a couple items added even if it raised the price. You must get the powder riser extension. I don't know why they would leave this item out. I am just glad I read lots of reviews that pointed this out in advance or I would have been making another order after it arrived. I gave 5-stars just based on the fact that this package over delivered based on the price. I am sure that there are better presses if you have the money to invest but this one really meets the needs of the new reloader.

The perfect reloading press period. Do not be afraid to buy this press for your first and last reloading press ever. This setup has the ideal balance between Quality, volume and economy. After 15 years of reloading I have accumulated 9 different presses but if I could only have one this would be it. The fourth hole is perfect for the Lee Factory Crimp die. Lube the press before you start. The Lee full progressive presses are so dry out of the box they won't cycle correctly until you lube them properly. They work well too but they are way more complicated than this little jewel. The best tip I have is mixing the Lee case lube 50/50 with water and stir around with your brass in a bowl, let dry before resizing.

Great little press. An ease to use and set up. There are a few things that you will need to buy to compliment the press. The Lee Safety Primer needs to be bought. Get the Small and Large set and save some bucks. If you are loading for a hand gun, make sure that you get Lee's die set that comes with the expander/powder through die. If you are loading for a rifle, get the Lee Auto-Disk Rifle Powder Charging Die that can be used for .22 cal up to .30. Then to charge the larger cases, you will need to get the Lee Double Disk Kit. Even after buying these few extras, you are still saving a LOT compared to the other brands.

Well I have had my 4 hole turret press with auto indexing and deluxe reloading kit now for about a year. I love it I reload shells for my 45/70 and my 30/30. The part that is really great is in a matter of seconds you can go from one cal to another by getting an extra turret. Just set the turrets up with your favorite cals and all you have to do is rotate and lift it out and drop the next one in and you are ready to start on the next cal. The scale is a little sensitive but when you are working with minute particles this is to be expected. Once set though it will weigh the same every time. The auto disk powder measure takes a little time fine tuning and with the purchase of extra disks and the extension kit it drops within 1/10 of a grain or less of your initial setting every time. The primer pocket cleaner, cutter and lockstud and chamfer tools all work reasonably well. What I really like the most about this press is that I can disconnect the auto indexing and perform batch jobs one step at a time. Like deprime a whole batch of shells and then relube and resize them all and then load them all with powder and so on until they are ready to shoot. I have put 500 45/70 and 1000 30/30 shells through this press and it works like it was new yesterday. This kit is well worth more than what they sell it for and for the most part is simple to maintain and adjust.

Really easy to change from one caliber to another. Buy extra turret plates and leave them set up and all you have to do is pull out the one that's in the press and put in another one and you're ready to go with the dies already adjusted. Loads as fast as some progressive machines at a fraction of the cost. Some of the most expensive machines are not auto indexing and this one is. The scales work really great and are easy to set up. The scales didn't look like they would be that good at first but are as sensitive as any I ever used and are well made. The auto disc powder measure works really good that came with it also. Buy the quick change adaptor and they remove very quick too. Or you can buy extra auto disc powder measures and leave them attached to the dies that are attached to extra turret plates and be even faster at changing calibers. Unless you need more than 200 loads per hour this is the one to go with in my opinion...for the money.

Of all the presses that I have owned over the past twenty some years this is the ideal press. If you can only have one press or if this is your first press, this is the press that will stay on your bench for decades to come. It is simple to set up and oprerate, as opposed to a fully progressive press and far less complicated to operate. I have never broken anything from the four hole or three hole turret presses. I average about 150 rounds per hour and every round is perfect. for the beginner or expereinced reloader, this press is ideal.

I bought this press as my first one to start reloading with. It is very easy to set up and to use. I have reloaded 30/30 and 30/06 with this press and have had really good luck with it so far. The only thing that found is that the auto index rod needs to be removed to do the big rifle cases. Other than that everything works great. I was reloading within thirty minutes of receiving it. I would buy this kit all over again if I had to.

I load only handgun ammo on this press. 45acp and 44mag. I've loaded for 30 years and this is the fastest and most economical loader I've used. The priming system sucks, so I use the Lee auto prime instead. The up-grade for the power measure is a must. My wife and I shoot a lot of 45acp. Unless you need 500 rounds an hour, this system fits the bill just fine. I'm sure happy with mine.

This press works as designed and loads ammo quickly and accurately. I load both pistol and rifle with this press and have excellent results. The auto index feature is easy to adjust and works perfectly. The only complaint I have is that the press is not tall enough to use the auto advance feature for the turret when loading rifle cartridges. When you lower the ram to pull the cartridge from the dies the turret advances before the cartridge has been fully extracted from the die. This is easily remedied by removing the advance rod and manually advancing the turret which is just as efficient. This will get you reloading for less money.

I reviewed this in May right after I started using it and gave it 5 stars then. Four months and 8,000+ rounds later I still rate it at 5 stars. While it does have a few little quirks it is extremely consistent, easy to set up from one caliber to another and about as fast as you want to go. I do set each caliber in its own turret, record the actual powder drop for each powder and always use the safety prime system. This is so easy to use my 8 year old has loaded with it. Great value for the money.

I just got this press from midway on May 21st. I must say I’m happy with how it is made and the over all looks of it. It seems like it can easily load all of my rifle cartridges and pistol cartridges. Also all of my dies fit perfect on it. However the powder measure I’m not too crazy about as it does not give enough grains thus I would have to come around about 4 times to load 80 grains. Another bad thing was the instructions were near to the worst I have ever seen. However the performance over all is GREAT!!!!

This press is an awesome tool to have if you have been reloading for years or just beginning. Although you may not be able to crank out 600 rounds an hour on this unit, you can definitely pop out a bunch of it in a short time and have a great time doing it. The ammo this unit makes is as good or better than factory loads, plus you are able to put your hands on every load unlike a lot of progressive loaders. Another great reason to buy this product is that Lee makes excellent products that the average Joe can afford. There is nothing Lee products left to be desired. Great products at great prices for the beginner or experienced loader. You will not regret this purchase.

Pros: Easy set up. Tight consistent loads. The powder measure disks are great and very accurate. Great for a starter package. Comes with a primer seater for small and large primers; used this instead of the Lee auto prime, much easier. (Sold the Auto Prime on eBay after not using it for 6 months)Includes a Chamfer tool, primer pocket cleaning tool, and case trimming tool. Cons: The powder scale is garbage, sold it on eBay for $20. The auto-index needs a little manual help sometimes getting to the next stage. You need to treat it with rust inhibitor, not really a con. The one thing that I was a little annoyed at was that Lee uses a plastic washer that turns the index, mine broke before I had it set up, luckily there was a spare in the box. I recommend this product highly. Excellent entry level press.

Over all, a great press for the money. It's not "top of the line", obviously, but a very suitable press for the new reloader or for the experienced reloader that doesn't want to give up steps of load control to a progressive press. Downsides are: The priming system can be dissappointing until broken in, during the break in period, expect to chew up many primers. The auto disk powder measure while a smart idea leaves much to be desired, so, upgrading to the "pro" will eventually be necessary. The powder hopper can strip out easily, so use caution. The auto index works providing you are firm but not too hard on the down stroke which will result in the index being missed and trying to load a case at the half way point resulting in case damage. You can be loading quality ammo in a short period of time, but, the efficiency of your loading is dependant on practice and there is a semi learning curve to the kit. If you're wanting to load good ammo and save money, or save up for something better, this press will let you do that. I cut my ammo expenses by more than 70 percent using this very press and I shoot alot.

When I bought this kit I was new to reloading. This kit is an inexpensive way to learn the practice. I use it to successfully load 380 ACP, 9mm, and 45 ACP (Lee dies purchased separately). The press design is satisfactory. The 4-hole turret spins to allow indexing of various dies. However, the rod that spins the turret (during the very top of the upstroke) failed after about a thousand rounds and it no longer functions well as a semi-progressive unit. This is fine with me, as I actually prefer to do each step all at once for a set of rounds. The benefit of the 4-hole turret over a single stage press is that I can leave an entire set of caliber dies in the unit and simple manually spin the turret to the one I want. One other small problem is that occasionally the brass case does not fit perfectly into the resizer die because the shellholder and resizer die (which is screwed into the turret) are just slightly out of line. This is usually remedied by tweaking the die (screwing it in lower or higher a quarter turn). The powder scale is cheap but accurate to 1/10 grain measurements. With only a 100 grain capacity, it is only useful for measuring powder charges and not bullet weights or weights of finished rounds. The best part of this kit is the auto disk powder measure. This system allows you to quickly and consistently drop powder charges and expand the case neck with a single stoke of the handle. However, with the small charges needed in 380 ACP and 9mm, the preset disks don't allow a vast variety of powder charges to work up loads. The priming tool is a joke to say the least. You should buy the Lee Auto Prime II (it is much better but still has a few issues). My handloads with this kit are MUCH more accurate than factory ammunition. In summary, this kit (along with carbide dies, the Lee Auto Prime II, reloading trays, and reloading data) is more than adequate to get you started in and making you efficient in reloading. If you are an experienced handloader in the market for a purely semi-progressive or progressive set-up, this kit is probably not for you.

I love this unit. Some points to ponder. The powder drop cannot be removed without removing the two dies next to it. It is not a two minute job to change dies. I would recommend to people wanting this kit, to get the power measure extension. Then you can just unscrew the powder measure and then change dies. Second, the ejected primers go EVERYWHERE! I kid you not. The only place they do not go is in the container I placed under the unit. Overall, and having loaded 500rds 45ACP, and 9mm, great unit as all Lee products are. I do not use their primer unit, I have the Lee hand job. I size and deprime the case, remove, prime, replace, and tally ho! Two more steps and a finished cartridge. If I did not get the extension, I would get at least two locking rings. That way, the dies can be removed to change the measure to the other die plate and be returned to the original setting. Great unit.

I purchased this press to reload .45 ACP and .38 Spl ammo. Set up was easy right out of the box. I did not initially order the additional riser for the powder drop but that should be here today. That should make changing dies and powder disks easier. I have loaded approx 250 rounds of ammo so far with only minor adjustments. The only complaint I have is the auto indexing doesn't work all that well. The dies don't always line up as they should and I have tried without complete success to correct this as they describe in the directions.

This is my first reloading press, but I have borrowed a RCBS single stage press. I am only loading rifle cal now. In my opinion for the money you can't beat it. It is nice not having to switch dies after every step, just a simple turn and you're ready for the next step. My only complaints are: 1. It does not have a really smooth action. 2. You really need to buy another powder dispenser, because without the double disk kit it will be hard to measure enough powder to charge a rifle. 3. The turret seems to "tip" ever so slightly from time to time when pressure from the case/bullet is applied. This is only a problem when seating the bullet. Carefully check the OAL of your bullet the first few rounds. No big complaints. I would buy the same press if I had it to do all over again.

You need the following: Lee Auto-Disk Powder Measure Riser, Lee Auto-Disk Adjustable Powder Charge Bar, Lee Auto-Disk Powder Measure Swivel Adapter, Lee Safety Prime Small and Large Primer Feeder for 2006, Later Reloading Press. This all should be in the kit even if they have to up the price.

Yyes, it is as easy as it's stated. You too can save $$ reloading expensive stuff like 454 Casull. I found the auto-index feature too clunky so I disabled it. Now I do one stage at a time, and it works great.

For the new reloader, in my opinion, this is a good press - but you will need some other items. If you are reloading rifle ammunition, you will need the Lee Auto Disk Double Disk Kit, the Lee Auto Disk Riser, the Lee (Universal) Rifle Charging die, case lube, the Lee Safety Primer Feed (get both sizes), a powder funnel, along with a set of rifle dies. I would also recommend a book on how to reload, as the instructions are quite difficult to follow - they seem to skip some critical info on the entire process & setup. They really could make the instructions a little better. Apart from not knowing about the Rifle charging die and having to make several separate orders to Midway, I'm happily making 308 ammo now.

Good press but its only half of what you need to start reloading. I set up my press today thinking I’m gonna crank a couple out. But I need more stuff just to get going. First off you are going to need the Safety prime but if you get that then you are going to need to get the Riser for the powder drop and lee Pistol Dies with the lee powder through expander die. And then you can start on pistol. So if you don’t have lee pistol dies it’s going to cost you 10$ a caliber just for a die to use the auto-disk powder drop. For rifle you will need the universal rifle powder die.(should be included because it does not come with any of the Die sets) But here’s what gets me if your reloading large rifle you are going to need a auto-disk stack kit so you can stack the disk but the most u can go is 42.2 gr. of powder Which is a .308 with a 168gr bullet. If you need more you are going to need a whole new powder drop. All of the above should be included in the kit. Or they need not be so vague about what you are going to need. Take my advice or you will be waiting on parts for weeks. I rate it a 3 because its incomplete.

I already had a single stage press when I bought this kit, trying to "automize" the reloading process. I found I was taking the brass out of press after depriming/ sizing to check the length, cut and chamfer before priming. I can do those steps on the single-stage press so I didn't need a 4-hole press when 3-holes would do. Next, the auto-indexing is iffy, I generally check the positioning before each stage. I imagine manual would be about as fast. Now about the accessories -- The auto-disk powder measure needs to be removed to change disks, and the device didn't clear the bullet seating die. I had to order a riser, and wait for delivery. Then, if the Safety scale is accurate, my autodisk powder measure isn't. I test the powder measure output on the scale to find a disk that gives me the appropriate load. I will get an electronic scale to verify which it is. Word to the wise, no matter what Lee says, the safety primer doesn't work on my press with the aut0-disk, even with the riser, the powder measure doesn't clear the primer assembly.

I have used Lee equipment for years and have always found it to do a good job for me while being cost effective. I recently purchased this kit and soon discovered that the ram does not align properly with the dies. It seems to be in the machining of the top of the ram because if I turn my shell holders (any size & caliber) the off-alignment turns with them. It's off enough for any straight case to catch on the edge of the die each time you raise the ram. So much so that I have to hold the case centered to resize it. I'm still waiting for a reply from Lee. If they resolve the problem, I will leave a follow-up review. If not, 2 stars is all they get! -Pete
