I have read the other ratings and have to disagree with the bad ones. This stock does use simple screws to hold the top and bottom together. That said, I love it. It was very easy to put together. I have no feeding problems and I have no problems with losing zero ever. Every time I shot it,( about 400 rds to date) I put groups 2 inchs at 200 yrds and thats on a bad day.

Was a dream come true to build on a barreled action I saved from a scrap pile. Looks ugly as sin, but fits me and shoots like a dream. Only wish I had bought the camo version. Mounted 2x Scout Scope and kept straight bolt handle. I love it.

I really like this stock for my mil. surp. k98 mauser. It allows me to scope my rifle without altering it. This stock is perfect for bench shooting and gives me tight groups every time. I would recommend it to anyone.

I purchased this stock to scope a collector Mauser that I did not want to alter. It took me an hour or so to get the metal clamp aligned correctly and assemble the stock. It performed well for the $$ I paid for it. The gun shoots sub 1" groups. I even removed and reattached the scope and the gun held zero. It is very ugly, but it is an inexpensive way to scope a military gun. The only real problem I had was the mag box was a little small for 30-06 cartridges. This can be fixed with a Dremel.

Stock was a pain in the behind to get together. But, once put together it looks great with my Simmons whitetail classic scope. Minus 1 star for the headache of putting it together.

I bought this for A Rhineland arms 45 Winchester mag/mauser conversion. From what I have first looked at I believe it will work. I will need to counter bore the recoil clamp to fit around the jam nut on these kits which work like a Savage head space nut. And the kit has feed and magazine release spacers in the kit that fit in the factory 98 mag well. It looks to me as though they will work in the polymer blind magazine well with some trimming and longer pins to secure them in the stock. Then I'll trim out the blind magazine to fit the 30 carbine magazines which will be most if not all the blind magazine. This is my best guess for now.

Likewise, I disagree with the negative posts about this stock. The price is decent and the stock functions well. I have a M48 Mauser and it installed without a problem. It feeds flawlessly and holds a decent group. True it isn't a target stock but it isn't priced like one either. If you're mechanically inclined and are comfortable or experienced with disassembling your Mauser this stock is not a challenge to install. If you are not patient, don't follow instructions, or have never disassembled your Mauser than this install or any other one may take you an hour or so. Great way to modernize a good classic firearm.

This stock is ok, I actually don't agree with the price should be a lot cheaper, the generic wood like screws hold the upper to the lower stock, no threads, you thread the stock when you screw it in, and is still plastic, so I'm sure after a while it will become stripped. I myself will be drilling all the way through and adding small bolts and nuts to replace the screws the stocks still good just poorly thought out.

I can not believe that anyone gave this stock a good rating. The stock is definitely constructed for easy assemble, but the two pieces of the stock are held together with phillips head all purpose/drywall type screws. The slightest little bit of torque will split the screw channels. (only talking about 10 ft/lbs) I have had three because of returns for problems. the screw holes do not line up very well either. If you are buying this stock for scope mounting and you clean your weapon regularly as I do, be prepared to re-zero after every cleaning. A xeroed rifle before cleaning, may not even be on the paper after you reassemble the rifle. It is very comfortable and light though, but feels more like a plastic toy from mattel than a composite stock. Also be prepared for feed problems because the inletting in the magazine area of the stock does not match the trigger guard magazine box, and there is a lot of movement with the follower and follower spring. The last round from the follower never seems to feed properly.

I tested this stock on my yugo m48 and turk 38. I think this stock is the most beautiful commonplace synthetic stock I've ever seen, but... The upper handguard is made out of the same thing the stock is. It may have a metal fastener, and some (wood) screws here and there, but it doesn't bring me comfort to mount on. Next, you can't really use the stock without the hand gaurd. Lastly, you have to have a scope with a smaller size objective (or very high rings) to mount on the stock because the rail blocks the bell. To get the scope caps on you'll probably wind up having to cut out or sand down part of the hand guard. I wound up selling the stock and never did shoot it so I don't know about that. Its a beautiful stock, good for novice work, good price, good to keep your rifle somewhat original; but has some considerable drawbacks.

Very poorly made stock, the plastic is cheap. The forearm was off center, had to send it back to ATI, they replaced it. Still the same problem. The action screws crushed the plastic, causing me to put spacers in. That was an major pain. More I work with this stock more problems that I run into. I will not pay for another one. I would wait for Choate to make theirs.
