So my friends and I did some informal testing between Federal Hydra-Shock 45 ACP hollow points, and these 9mm Cor-Bon. We got some coconuts to use as targets. First we shot the Federals at about 20 feet. The bullet went straight through the coconut and did not expand as promised. Basically just a bleeding wound. The second shot through a different coconut with the Cor-Bon 9mm's resulted in the coconut exploding!! We were shocked! The bullet was recovered and compared to the published expansion photo on their website. The bullet expanded as advertised and destroyed the target. We repeated the tests several times with the same results. I would most definitely recommend this brand of Ammunition. Of course the Federal brand could have performed poorly just because it was a heavier bullet than the 9mm, shooting the same sized targets, but I am inclined not to think so. Shooting different types of random targets, we could not get the Federals to expand anymore than just a slight bulge.

After seeing this ammo at the top of some review lists for the best defensive 9mm ammo, I decided to buy a few boxes. They cycle perfectly through a Beretta 92. No problems ejecting empties or feeding rounds out of the mag. Seems to be a pretty reliable bullet.

Great ammo! Functions flawlessly in both my Kahr K9 and my Berreta 92FS. Accuracy is good and rounds eject forcefully, I’ve seldom, if ever, experienced a stoppage. One can’t ask for much more in a self defense round.

This is the most powerful 9mm ammunition you can buy. Out of my Beretta 92FS It clocks in at 1360 fps. Functions perfectly for me.

This round has preformed without a hitch in my Kahr PM9. 200 rounds from a new out of box pistol no snags. Holds a steady 3" group from 10-15 feet. I trust my life with this round.

Satisfied with accuracy and recoil, particularly for +P rounds. But, had one dead round out of a 20 round box. Not up to par for the price and purpose.

I would expect more from a dollar a shot 9mm bullet, but I had one that had a defective primer and did not fire. I read that this has happened to others too!? That officially takes it off my list of defense ammo. As for the Federal Hydra-Shok not expanding, I have shot cantaloupes and all that was left was juice. I shot a rabbit once and all that was left was legs and blood.

I hate to give a bad review to the "usually reliable" Cor-Bon Manufacturer, but I bought this ammo for SD, and the 10th round jammed my Springfield XD. The cartridge did not fully eject. I've owned the XD for 2 years and it has NEVER jammed. Although this may have been an isolated incident, when my life is on the line, I need to know the odds are in my favor. Perhaps the factory spring doesn't like the extra pressure. I'll try some Gold Dots.
